Chapter 32: Chapter 34 Opening (Part 1)

Qin Hao spent the whole day busying himself with the roasted duck restaurant.

It wasn't until three or four in the afternoon that the issues with the billboard were sorted out. A few odds and ends were still needed for the roasted duck shop, and it could open for business after those were purchased.

Qin Hao urged Kang Youyi and the others to hurry up, striving to open the next day.

It was past six in the evening by the time Qin Hao got home.

Qin Youguo, seeing him return, frowned and asked, "What have you been up to all day? Couldn't you find time to come back home?"

Qin Hao casually made an excuse, "I was discussing some problems at a classmate's house."

"How come you didn't bring any books if you were studying problems?"

"My classmate had them."

At this point, Mrs. Qin stepped in to defend him, "Qin Youguo, are you interrogating a criminal? Can't you speak with a smile?"

Qin Hao chuckled, "You two chat, I'll go back to my room first."

During dinner, Mr. Qin didn't pursue what Qin Hao had been up to during the day, which gave him a sigh of relief.

The next morning, after breakfast, Qin Hao hurried out of the house again.

Once Qin Hao left, Qin Youguo turned to Li Shujie and said, "Have you noticed that our son has been acting a bit off these past two days?"

Li Shujie, washing dishes in the kitchen, replied, "Off in what way? Don't be paranoid. The unified exams are only a few days away. Our son is probably just trying to relax. A few days ago, the class teacher even called to praise our son for his diligent studying."

Qin Youguo, hearing her say this, didn't comment further.

...

Jiangshan Roasted Duck Restaurant

When Qin Hao arrived and saw the exterior decorations of the restaurant, he nodded slightly in approval.

Upon entering, he saw Kang Youyi and a few others sitting there waiting for him. They quickly stood up when they saw him come in.

Qin Hao asked, "How's it going?"

Kang Youyi replied, "Hao, everything is ready; we can open for business."

Qin Hao nodded slightly and then took out his phone to call Du Xing at the live poultry and seafood market. He gave the address and then hung up.

During this time, he inspected the roasted duck shop and asked Kang Youyi, "How's the hiring coming along?"

Kang Youyi replied, "Hao, these brothers are here to help out for now. We can recruit more staff gradually."

He had called over six people, all of whom were Li Bao's trusted subordinates. Qin Hao only recognized Liu Pengyun and Zhao Hongyu.

Qin Hao addressed the six men, "You guys will have to work hard these next few days until we recruit more staff, then you can go back to Li Bao."

Liu Pengyun quickly said, "Hao, no need to be polite. Just leave the work to us; you don't need to hire more people."

The others nodded in agreement. They were eager to be around Hao every day because he was, after all, the boss of Yonghe Street.

Being remembered by the boss and getting a slight promotion was enough for them.

Qin Hao knew their nature all too well. They might be okay for a few days, but if left longer, they really weren't suitable.

He didn't spell it out, instead saying calmly, "This kind of work can be done by others. You've done well these past few days, so I'll have other tasks for you."

The fatty declared, "Don't worry, Hao. If anyone dares not to work hard, I'll teach them a lesson before you need to lift a finger."

Qin Hao nodded, "I'm going upstairs to mix the duck seasoning. It's our secret roasted duck recipe and our biggest advantage. No one, without my permission, is allowed in the room where we store the herbs, understand?"

"Yes, Hao," several people nodded in unison.

On the second floor, there were four rooms, with the herbs stored in one of them. It was twenty to thirty square meters with an office desk inside.

On the desk was a scale for herbs, specifically used for measuring the ingredients.

Half an hour later, Qin Hao came down from upstairs with a large bag of medicinal ingredients, weighing about fifteen pounds or so.

Delicious roasted duck didn't consume much in the way of medicinal ingredients, so the amount he bought was enough to last a long time.

Qin Hao said to Kang Youyi and the others, "Come here for a moment."

Seven people followed him to the duck roasting room at the back, where Qin Hao placed the medicinal ingredients into a stainless steel barrel.

Kang Youyi looked at the ingredients and asked, "Hao, are you going to boil some medicine?"

"These are the auxiliary ingredients I've already prepared," Qin Hao explained. "Pour them into the barrel, then add the appropriate amount of water."

As Qin Hao spoke, he carried out his instructions. He stopped after the water in the stainless steel barrel reached four-fifths full.

Next, he began heating and simmering the auxiliary ingredients in the barrel.

"It needs to be simmered for about half an hour or more, and then it will be ready. Once the ducks arrive, soak them in here for three minutes, then put them in the roasting oven to roast. Got it?"

Kang Youyi and the others nodded; these steps were quite simple.

Just after eight-thirty in the morning, a small truck stopped in front of the roasted duck restaurant.

Du Xing got out of the truck and, seeing the sign for Jiangshan Roasted Duck Restaurant, he felt relieved.

So, it was a roast duck restaurant. No wonder they needed so many ducks all at once; it seemed the place hadn't opened yet.

Qin Hao and the others came out of the shop upon hearing the noise.

Du Xing was surprised, then quickly smiled and said, "Mr. Qin, the ducks have been delivered; you can check them."

Qin Hao walked to the back of the small truck; the ducks were fresh and had just been slaughtered.

He gestured to Liu Pengyun and the others to unload the ducks.

Du Xing offered Qin Hao a cigarette, and Qin Hao didn't refuse, lighting it with his lighter.

Du Xing started by flattering him, "I never imagined someone as young as you, Mr. Qin, would open his own shop. It's truly impressive."

Qin Hao took a drag of his cigarette and said indifferently, "Just messing around for fun. Mr. Du, how much does it all cost?"

"The ducks weigh a total of 260 pounds, and the slaughter fee is three hundred, so the total comes to four thousand two hundred. You can just give me three thousand two hundred."

Qin Hao transferred three thousand two hundred directly to him, and after the ducks were accounted for, Du Xing greeted them and left.

Kang Youyi and the others had already unloaded the ducks into the backyard, awaiting his next instruction.

When he got to the backyard, Qin Hao brought several large barrels over and said, "First wash your hands and disinfect them, then clean these ducks."

Everyone followed his instructions, washed their hands, disinfected, and then started cleaning the ducks.

Soon, the ducks were cleaned. Some were put into the safe, and some were taken into the roasting room.

By then, the auxiliary ingredients had been properly cooked, and about a dozen ducks had already been put in to soak.

Seeing that there were not many barrels with auxiliary ingredients, Qin Hao went upstairs to prepare another batch of medicinal materials.

With two barrels of auxiliary ingredients, nearly thirty ducks could be soaked in one go.

Three minutes later, more than a dozen ducks were placed inside the roasted duck ovens.

At ten past ten, a rich aroma wafted out of the roasting room, filling the entire duck restaurant.

Kang Youyi and the rest couldn't help but swallow their saliva upon smelling it; damn, it was so fragrant, they had never smelt such delicious roasted duck before.

There truly was drool-worthy anticipation; this wasn't just some overblown nonsense by the system.

"Damn, Hao, I'm hungry." Kang Youyi's stomach growled a few times after he spoke.

The others weren't any better off, staring at Qin Hao with the expressions of starving wolves.
