Chapter 4 The Deceptive Task
Chapter 4 The Deceptive Task
Du Wanrou glanced at Qin Hao, surprised in her heart. Was he actually studying?
This guy used to be lost in his own world before. What happened today?
She tentatively asked, "Qin Hao, which university do you plan to attend in the future?"
Qin Hao curiously looked at her, feeling that she was unusually talkative today.
They had been desk mates for three years in high school and had spoken only a handful of times. What was up with Du Wanrou today?
Not far away, Yuan Zhengxiang, seeing the two of them talking, had a thick shade of jealousy in his eyes, because Du Wanrou had never taken the initiative to talk to him before.
He gritted his teeth in hatred. It seems that Xu Liang's lesson yesterday was not enough for you. Just wait; you'll suffer today.
…
Du Wanrou, seeing that he was not talking, said irritably, "I'm asking you a question."
Qin Hao: "Class rep, why are you talking so much today?"
Upon hearing his words, Du Wanrou's face turned cold, and she turned her head to look at her own review materials.
Qin Hao was somewhat confused. What happened again? Was it wrong to just ask out of curiosity?
Indeed, a woman's mood changes faster than flipping a book.
He shook his head, speechless, and continued to look at the review materials. He spent the whole morning revising the mathematics materials of the senior year.
By lunchtime, he had covered about one-fifth of the material, which could be said to be extremely efficient.
When the school bell rang for lunch, everyone in the class got up and went to the cafeteria to eat.
Yuan Zhengxiang and Song Wei glanced at Qin Hao and walked out of the classroom.
Qin Hao stood up, stretched lazily, and also planned to go to the cafeteria. He glanced at Du Wanrou next to him, only to see her taking out a thermal lunch box, planning to have lunch.
"Ding, side mission activated: Invite Du Wanrou to have lunch together. Successful reward: 100 achievement points, failure penalty: 200 achievement points."
Hearing the system's voice, Qin Hao's face was stunned. Invite Du Wanrou to dine together?
The system wants me to invite her to lunch? Are you kidding me?
Seeing that Du Wanrou had already unpacked her lunch box, Qin Hao hurriedly said in a low voice, "Class rep."
Du Wanrou looked up, "What's up?"
Qin Hao, a bit embarrassed, said softly, "Um… could I treat you to lunch?"
Du Wanrou's expression was surprised, thinking if she had misheard, "What did you say?"
Qin Hao's cheeks turned slightly red, feeling exceedingly awkward, "I said, can I treat you to lunch?"
He hadn't even had the courage to talk to her before, and now he was inviting her to lunch, which showed how much pressure Qin Hao was under.
After saying that, he felt his palms sweating.
"Really useless, it seems you still need a lot of training," Xiao Ying said speechlessly upon seeing his performance.
Du Wanrou hesitated for a while, then her lips curled into a slight smile, "Sure."
"Really?" Qin Hao was a bit surprised. At that moment, he realized that the joy of completing the mission was minimal; more overwhelming was the excitement from deep within, an indescribable happiness.
The two left the classroom together and arrived at the school's cafeteria.
The cafeteria was bustling with noise, with hundreds of people eating there. It was very lively. Du Wanrou immediately drew countless gazes as she walked in, and many people also looked towards Qin Hao.
Qin Hao felt as if he was sitting on pins and needles and quickly asked, "What would you like to eat? I'll go get the food."
Du Wanrou: "Get a sweet and sour pork ribs rice bowl."
…
Qin Hao went to get the food while Du Wanrou found an empty seat.
Seeing this scene from not far away, Yuan Zhengxiang's face was extremely gloomy: "Qin Hao, you just wait."
After finishing his hasty meal, he left the cafeteria with Song Wei.
During lunch, many people around Qin Hao were sizing him up, wondering who he was to be eating with the campus belle. Could he possibly be her boyfriend?
The meal was so unbearable for Qin Hao that he sweated profusely and wanted nothing more than to finish quickly and leave the cafeteria.
Du Wanrou seemed oblivious, eating gracefully, a sight that others found enjoyable.
"Congratulations to the host for completing the side mission, awarding 100 achievement points."
"The next stage of the side mission begins: Write a love letter of over one thousand words for Du Wanrou.
Reward for successful completion: 100 achievement points, and 200 deducted for failure.
Task duration: within five days"
...
When Qin Hao heard the second mission, he almost spat out his food. A love letter? Of over a thousand words?
Seeing his reaction, Du Wanrou asked, "What's wrong? Don't you like the food?"
Qin Hao explained, "No, it's quite good, I just ate too fast."
After Du Wanrou finished her meal, they both returned to the classroom, where their classmates looked at them with surprise.
Back at his desk, Du Wanrou smiled at him, "Thank you for the meal."
Qin Hao: "You're welcome, it's my pleasure."
Du Wanrou didn't speak further but started looking at her revision materials.
Qin Hao spent half the day pondering how to write her a love letter. Since he had a few days left, he put aside the thought and continued revising.
He reviewed the math materials for the whole afternoon. He had gone through more than half of the senior year mathematics knowledge points, and he could almost finish them by the end of the next day.
In the afternoon, Du Wanrou stole a few glances at him, and seeing Qin Hao engrossed in his revision, she was astonished. Had this guy changed?
At 5:45 PM, the school bell rang for dismissal.
Classmates began gathering their books and gradually left the classroom, and Qin Hao also started packing up his review materials.
Today was Friday, and there were no classes for the next two days, so he decided to take more review materials home.
That's when Yuan Zhengxiang and Song Wei walked over, "Meet us at the small woods outside the school."
After the others had left the classroom, Du Wanrou spoke up, "Qin Hao, don't go, they must have gathered people to beat you up."
This wasn't something he could avoid; it was a good opportunity to find Xu Liang and the others, and also to test the power of level 2 Fighting Skill.
Qin Hao smiled and said, "It's okay."
In his smile, Du Wanrou saw a confidence she had never seen before, which momentarily stunned her.
Qin Hao: "I'll go ahead, see you on Monday."
"Okay, bye." Du Wanrou smiled and waved.
Qin Hao, with his backpack, left the classroom and exited the teaching building, still seeing many students heading towards the school exit.
At the school gate, two of Xu Liang's underlings were waiting for him, presumably to prevent him from running away.
Upon seeing him emerge, they walked towards him.
Qin Hao looked at them sharply, remembering that these two were among those who had beaten him up the night before.
Not waiting for them to speak, he said, "Let's go."
In the small woods, several people were standing, including Yuan Zhengxiang, Song Wei, and Xu Liang.
Except for Yuan Zhengxiang and Song Wei, the others were those who had beaten Qin Hao the previous night, not one more or less among them.
Xu Liang, also a senior student, was from Class 8 and was a known figure in school, often addressed as Liang.
Upon seeing Qin Hao's arrival, Song Wei's expression grew fierce, "Qin Hao, you acted tough this morning. Now kneel and crawl from under Xiang's crotch, and we'll let you go today."
