Chapter 173 - God
Chapter 173 - God
-----
Breakfast in the Noctem Family Manor was nowhere as conventional as the breakfast in other families.
Large amounts of blood, both human and that of monsters, was served to their members, who deliciously drank the sweet nectar.
After what had happened yesterday, everyone ended quite exhausted, and slept for way more than the expected amount, having recently woken up at around 1 PM.
After filling themselves with the panacea of Vampires, blood, the Noctem family finally sighed in relief and Noah, their Progenitor, decided to slowly assess everything that had happened yesterday, the many events, what he learned, and what they earned.
He explained several things, such as how he defeated the Lady of the Lake, how he was now able to eat Souls, how the amount of power he acquired was so much that the System had to seal part of it, how he shared it with them, and how he became a Guider.
Alongside this, the abnormal soul of Noah was addressed as well, as the Vampires noticed that his soul was so enormous and monstrous now that it was even flowing out of his very body.
Any normal person would think of Noah as someone completely aberrant, chaotic, and horrible, but for them, Noah seemed glorious and splendorous.
And Noah also noticed that their souls had grown…
Although not as enormous as his, they were growing bigger, and stronger, and each of their souls was unique in their own splendor too.
Iris's soul was dark-blued colored and flowed like an enormous mass of phantasmal blue flames, it often had many crimson eyes glowing eerily all around as well, alongside large claws, she was the second biggest soul after Noah.
Arthur's soul resembled a vicious worm-like creature covered in purple-colored viscous liquids, it had a gigantic circular mouth filled with razor-sharp teeth which constantly vomited this purple-colored substance, the soul seemed to be always twisting around grotesquely.
Jon's soul resembled an enormous eye. However, at closer inspection, Noah noticed that it was several eyes stitched together by a phantasmal, purple-colored thread. Each eye was of a different color and seemed to be extracted from a different creature, below the mass of eyes there were long, pink-colored tentacles that constantly secreted slime.
Timassa's soul was more "normal" although not less surprising. Her soul resembled a large falcon, or some kind of bird with a very sharp beak, made completely out of black thunder, it seemed proud and powerful, and it was always shielding Arthur's soul.
Adamantine's soul was perhaps the most striking, it resembled an enormous mass of shadows in the shape of some kind of quadrupedal beast, perhaps some kind of wolf, but its head was way too wide and grotesque. The shadows seemed to be constantly changing its appearance slightly, and it possessed a large jaw filled with razor-sharp teeth that were always smiling, it also had two small crimson eyes above such a gigantic and eerie smile.
Clementina's soul was also more "normal", although no less interesting. Her soul resembled an enormous, prideful, and loyal horse made completely out of ice, which also had a large horn in the middle of its forehead, so it could be said to be a unicorn. The horse had six limbs and its eyes gleamed with blue light, it constantly exuded an aura of frost.
Meanwhile, Sakura, Sugar, and Noire's souls were still small and developing, so they didn't have any particular form that Noah could discern yet.
Nonetheless, all of his subordinates had gigantic and monstrous souls, it was as if their very souls had undergone an evolution.
Of course, they were also aware of their own soul's shape, some were surprised, and others seemed indifferent.
"Why is my soul a giant purple worm?!" asked Arthur in surprise.
"Worm or not, I believe it is beautiful, Arthur-sama," said Timassa with a gentle smile.
"You say that because you got a giant falcon! I want that… Why do I get the weird one…" sighed Arthur.
"Arthur stop crying for something like that. Jon's soul is also quite… unique, and yet he doesn't complain," said Iris.
"I have already coped with the idea that I might be in reality a mass of floating eyes with tentacles," said Jon nonchalantly.
"Is it my idea or Jon is talking more fluidly now?" asked Timassa, ignoring Arthur's protest.
"Don't change the subject…" sighed Arthur.
"Is that so?" asked Jon curiously, he didn't realize that he had grown more confident and less timid.
"Oh yeah! I remember that you used to stutter a lot and talk very little…" said Iris with a sweet smile.
"Indeed. You have progressed," said Noah with a mild smile.
Seeing both his master and mistress smile at him like this filled Jon's heart with warmth and even more fervent devotion to them.
He even began to believe that he didn't deserve such good people in his life, completely discarding that they were in fact, insane vampires.
"My lords are too precious, I don't deserve them…" he said while vowing.
"W-Why are you vowing?!" asked Iris.
"My soul is… dark… Shadow?" asked Adamantine, while wondering what her soul really was, she couldn't really see anything else than just the darkness and the shadows.
"Indeed, your soul seems to be covered with shadows, Adamantine," said Noah.
"Cool! I am… strong!" said Adamantine, feeling awesome.
"Anyways, as of now, it would be a good idea to assess more of the truths I have discovered now that we have talked about what had previously transpired within our lives," said Noah.
"Oh yeah…" said Iris.
"You mean… what Merlin said? About a God?" asked Arthur.
"You have a good memory. Indeed. Merlin had said that Excalibur was made by the wishes of humanity and God himself. Well, after eating his soul and then The Lady of the Lake. I can confirm this, God exists," said Noah, his eyes flashing with crimson light.
"God… So there's a hell and heaven and all of that crap? I bet it is pretty filled with people after so many died in the apocalypse," said Iris.
"Wait, will we all go to hell then?" asked Arthur, recognizing that he was truly quite the sinner!
"No, don't worry… There is no heaven or hell. At least not within Earth. This "God" is not the concept of God we know about… It is something different," said Noah.
"Something… different?" asked Timassa.
"Like an… alien?" asked Jon.
"Heh, no. It is not an alien, Jon. It is an entity that humanity created! Yes, it is just as you heard! Humanity created their own God! How ironic! Hahahaha!" laughed Noah, laughing at the very ridiculousness of the origin of "God" an entity of supernatural forces that were… born from humanity itself, who prayed to him as if it was their creator.
It was the mere mortals that it overlooks from the heavens that created him.
Without people, Gods don't exist.
This was one of the truths about this twisted world!
"We… created God?" asked Iris.
"I mean, I get the physiological implications of humanity creating their own figures to worship… But Noah-sama, you mean… literally?" asked Timassa.
"Yes, Timassa. God was created by Humanity. From the very era where Humans began to walk on two feet and stopped being stupid apes," said Noah.
