Chapter 37 - The Threat Of An S-Rank
Chapter 37 - The Threat Of An S-Rank
-----
Sector C, 8 PM.
Inside a large skyscraper, a man in his thirties with a muscular figure, with long and spiky crimson hair, glanced down below into the beautiful city at night, many lights illuminated this dark night, and the city was very busy even when it was getting quite late.
His eyes gleamed with an orange and fiery glow, as he wondered how his little brother might be doing.
"I wonder if he already managed to absorb that Core? If he did, he should not even be in that school anymore… I guess I will ask him- Oh?"
The man received a phone call from a familiar number.
"Talking about the devil, how are you?"
The man answered the call as he asked his little brother how he was doing.
"I… lost it…" said the voice of his little brother.
"Eh? What did you lose?" asked the man.
"…The Core that you… gave to me…" muttered the boy.
"…"
"Sorry! I am deeply sorry! I… I don't know how it disappeared, I had it saved inside of my room, which was even locked when I left it… But when I came back the room was unlocked and the Blood Core… gone," said the young brother.
"…"
"Aniki?"
"YOU FUCKING IDIOT! It was meant to be your fucking ticket to my league, and you fucking lost it?! Why didn't you used it the moment I gave it to you, to begin with?! Were you showing it off your stupid friends?!" asked the man, his eyes suddenly releasing flames of anger!
"I… I… Well… Yes…" sighed the young brother, as the man simply lost it.
"GRAAAARRGHH…! Now a random ass kid is going around with an SSS-Rank Core?! Are you fucking insane?! Maybe… he already fucking used it! You gotta find that kid right fucking now!" roared the man.
"I've tried… But recently no one has shown any signs of showing some kind of Skills related with the Vampire Boss where you took the Core from…" said the young brother.
"Then look harder, Fernand! Or I am going to get there and personally beat your ass and whoever stole it!" roared the man, as his brother screamed in fear.
"Y-Yes! Sorry! I am very sorry, aniki! Please don't come here! I will find it! I promise!" cried the young brother.
"You better fucking do it, Fernand, you better fucking do!" roared the man, closing the call and then suddenly hitting the entire wall with a blazing punch!
BOOM!
The entire building began to tremble, barely stabilizing itself!
An enormous hole appeared on it, as pieces of the building fell to the streets down below, crushing a few innocent people.
"FUCKING HELL!!!" roared the man, as flames surged over his entire body, like a living torch, he unleashed a gigantic beam of concentrated heat towards the sky, illuminating the entire night for a brief moment!
BOOM!
A gigantic explosion unfolded in the sky, as many people glanced with surprise, many thinking that it was some kind of firework of sorts.
"I should have never given that idiot the fucking Core… For once I was trying to be a good older brother and this spoiled shitass ends up having it stolen?!" roared the man, sitting in the building while glancing at the city through the giant hole he made.
Suddenly, another call came, as the fire-resistant phone he possessed showed up another familiar number.
"What do you even think you're doing?!" asked the voice of a man.
"Ah, chairman… What's up?" asked the man.
"What's up my ass! Why did you just blow off a piece of the building?! Two people were flattened like pancakes down below by the debris!"
"Oops…" laughed the man.
"Sigh… If you weren't a freaking S-Rank Hunter I would have sent you to prison a long time ago buddy!"
"Haha, yeah sure. I am way too strong for you to waste me in prison, even if I were an A-Rank or B-Rank I bet you wouldn't even dare touch me anyways," laughed the man.
"Tch…! The reparations are going to be discounted from your pay!"
"Yeah sure whatever," sighed the man.
"Why is an S-Rank Hunter such an immature fucking brat-"
The man closed the call midway through as he threw the phone down the building, without a care of the world.
"Man, I got pretty angry there… Maybe I should go release some steam in some nearby Dungeon…" said the man, covering himself in flames once more and jumping off the building, flying like a meteor of flames through the sky…
…
Unaware of the lurking threats that the future awaits, Noah's party enters his room after an hour of preparing.
"Noah-sama, we are ready," said Iris, she had taken out her school uniform and was now wearing simple sports clothes.
"Hm," said Jon while nodding, he was also wearing simple clothes which he did not mind getting covered in blood.
"Err, Noah, what are we going to do?" asked Arthur.
"Oh nothing much, we'll get out of here for the rest of the night and go grind in the nearby F-Rank Dungeon for more Cores," said Noah.
"But tomorrow there is…" muttered Arthur.
"Yeah, the trip to the wastelands… So what? We still have to train and become stronger, we cannot waste such a beautiful night as this one… And well, is someone hungry by any chance?" asked Noah.
"Hungry?" asked Timassa, as she remembered that one day ago she ate two corpses by herself. Since then, she had not felt any hunger and has not drunk nor eaten any other food.
"The night is beautiful, and we all are a part vampire. Shouldn't it be ideal for us to go hunt some innocent and weak civilians?" asked Noah.
"B-But that might be dangerous!" said Arthur.
"Nah, there are a lot of homeless people around… And well, we have to feed ourselves, right? Oh, a new member is joining us today…" said Noah, as the party heard a knocking sound in Noah's room door.
Knock, knock…
"Who might be?" wondered Timassa, as she opened the door, which revealed a lugubrious woman.
Her skin was pale gray, and her eyes crimson red, her hair was blonde, but it has lost a lot of its bright colors and seemed old.
"Oh, Adamantine, so she recovered already?" wondered Iris.
"Indeed, although her mind is completely broken, she had been given the liberty of sleeping in her room, mostly because the teachers and doctors in here do not even care about her anymore, so I went to take her a visit and ordered her to come here in an hour, so here she is… She's rather hungry," said Noah.
"Master… Mistress…" muttered Adamantine with a dry voice, glancing at Noah and Iris with wicked fascination.
"That's… Adamantine… She's one of us?" asked Arthur.
"Yes, I guess you had already figured out who killed her two little friends and let her in the dungeon, right? Well do not blame me, because that was Iris," laughed Noah, as Iris gave an apologetic smile.
"I… went a bit wild there…" she said shyly.
"Well, the more people the more strength we have, right?" asked Timassa.
"That's right, although I don't plan on getting any more, too many people all together at night will awaken a lot of suspiciousness, especially if they are us… For now, let's keep the group small until we get out of this school," said Noah.
"Concentrating our resources and growth into a smaller group is better than in a larger group after all," said Arthur.
Adamantine slowly walked towards Noah, as she kneeled.
"Master… Hungry…" she said.
"Here," said Noah, as he sliced off his hand without any issue and threw it as a snack for Adamantine, who began to devour it like a mad dog.
Noah's hand quickly grew back anew, surprising everyone except Iris.
"Noah-sama, I also want to taste your flesh~!" said Iris.
"Anyways, let's get going," said Noah.
"Don't ignore me…" sighed Iris.
