Villain Ch 512. Unpredictable

Gil's gaze remained understanding as he responded, "You know… I don't mean to be a bad friend or try to separate you from her, but there are lots of fish in the sea. It doesn't have to be her." His words carried a tone of genuine concern for Elio's emotional wellbeing.

Elio's response was tinged with a mix of frustration and yearning, "I know. If I could get rid of this feeling in a snap, I wouldn't mind." His sigh mirrored the emotional turmoil he was experiencing.

Gil's wisdom came to the fore as he continued, "Sad for you. But I prefer it that way. In the game, we need logic more than feelings. Well, that also applies in the real world even though feeling is also very important." He paused for a moment, letting the gravity of his words sink in. "But logic is important so we could know right or wrong or differentiate between a good friend or a toxic friend," he concluded, underlining the significance of having a balanced perspective.

Elio offered a dry smile, acknowledging the wisdom in Gil's words. "You are right," he admitted, turning to face his friend. "You know, I'm surprised you're so wise today," he quipped with a hint of amusement, finding solace in the valuable insights offered by his friend.

Gil chuckled. "Thank you. It's very rare to hear praise from you," he replied in a lighthearted tone, the humor in his voice evident.

"Oh right. Where are Liam and Darren?" Elio inquired.

"They are on the second floor," Gil responded casually, the hint of a shrug evident in his tone. "Probably crafting something," he added. He knew Elio well, and his glance at his friend suggested that it was, once again, related to Sophia.

Elio's frown was hard to miss. "They didn't accompany her?" He questioned, the surprise in his voice unmistakable.

Gil noticed the worry etched on Elio's face and responded with a knowing look, "Shocking, right?" There was a hint of exasperation in his voice, a common sentiment among the guild members when it came to Sophia.

Elio, though silently acknowledging this, felt the need to understand the situation better. "Yeah. That's unusual," he replied, with a touch of concern. "Sometimes I thought they're all caught up in her drama. Including me." His voice conveyed frustration, not just towards Sophia's tendencies but also the impact it had on their guild's activities.

"Can't blame you," Gil shrugged. "She's got this whole 'damsel in distress' thing down pat. It's hard not to help," he said with a wry smile, displaying his understanding of the situation.

Elio pressed further about their guild members. "What about Noah and James?" he inquired.

Gil provided the information, "They just came back and are in the private room." He paused for a moment before adding with a cheeky smile, "Oh, and Noah also mentioned he just met Sophia."

Elio couldn't help but give Gil an inquisitive look. "Is that something I need to know?" he questioned, wondering if there was a specific reason Gil brought up this particular encounter.

Gil playfully grinned in response. "In case you wanted to know," he replied, his tone light and teasing.

Opening the door, Elio and Gil entered the private room where Noah and James were engrossed in conversation, just as Gil had predicted. Their dialogue ceased as they noticed Elio and Gil's arrival.

Elio questioned them, "Why don't you two chat in the hall?"

Noah responded with an indifferent tone, "Nah. The event hasn't started yet. We will be on standby after the announcement appears," she claimed.

"You guys seriously think this event is boring, right?" Elio assumed, placing his hands on his waist and observing them with a huff.

"Kinda," James casually agreed. The nonchalant tone in his voice resonated in agreement with Elio's perception of the upcoming event.

Noah's tone carried a hint of condescension as he chimed in, "What kind of event is this? It won't be interesting without war and fight," he quipped, a hint of condescension lacing his words, as if belittling the very essence of the impending challenge.

James shot back a wry grin in agreement. He was one to appreciate Noah's bluntness, finding a sort of raw honesty in his observations.

Elio, more serious and intent on the task at hand, wasn't having any of it. With a measured tone, he cautioned the group about the importance of the imminent challenge. "This is our chance to defeat the villains by using our intelligence, our brains," he emphasized, his words carrying a weight of responsibility and purpose.

Before anyone could respond to Elio's warning, Gil took charge. "The event is almost starting. I'll head to the hall and keep an eye out for anything peculiar," he declared, a sense of readiness in his voice.

"Okay," Elio mumbled, slightly perplexed by the lack of seriousness from the rest of the group towards the impending challenge. He couldn't shake off the feeling that Gil was the only one truly grasping the gravity of the situation and he truly appreciated it.

Gil, without a moment's hesitation, briskly exited the room, leaving the others in his wake. His sense of duty and preparedness was evident in his determined stride.

As the group lingered, their attention was seized by a sudden buzz and a faint ping. An announcement materialized in front of them, casting an eerie red glow across their faces. It was a stark reminder that something significant was about to unfold.

[Guild Betrayal event has started! To all participating guilds, beware of the villains among you!]

"Let's go," Elio had been on the cusp of urging Noah and James to join him and follow Gil, but before they could move, another thing interrupted their conversation. A notification flashed, catching everyone's attention, as a guild chat message popped up on their display screen. It was Gil's message that took center stage, demanding their immediate attention

Gil: Elio, the event has started. How long do I have to wait at the city's gates?
