Chapter 96 Anger
Chapter 96 Anger
Villain Ch 96. Anger
The seconds ticked away and the event was nearing its end, Allen felt a sense of restlessness stirring within him. He had been hunting players relentlessly, racking up kills left and right, yet there was still no sign of Mac and his team. Was he really that afraid of him? Allen couldn't help but wonder.
Perhaps it wasn't fear that was holding Mac back, but something else entirely. He couldn't help but think back to Yora, the female healer. Her behavior had been strange, to say the least. Could it be that what he had done to her had somehow impacted Mac's decision to stay away?
Or maybe Mac had simply decided that this event was a waste of time and had opted to level up instead. It was a disappointing thought for Allen, but there was little he could do about it now.
But as the time ticked closer to the end of the event, Allen grew more and more agitated. But he refused to let that frustration turn into desperation. Instead, he channeled his anger into his attacks, swinging his claws and throwing demonic lances with even greater ferocity.
Blood splattered across the sandy ground as Allen cut down player after player. He had long since lost count of how many he had killed.
When the event was almost over. An announcement appeared.
[A treasure has been found! Mac has obtained +7 Basic Armor and 300 Basic HP Potions]
Allen stood in the middle of the dungeon, frozen in shock and disbelief. He couldn't believe it. Mac had found the jackpot.
"That bastard…" he hissed in displeasure. Unfortunately, he couldn't do anything.
A few seconds later, the treasure hunt event had ended. The entire players were sent back from the Sand Pit to their final save point. So did Allen and his team.
The loading screen faded, and the world around Allen and the girls sharpened into focus. They were standing in front of the Cursed Crypts.
[Congratulations! You have successfully completed the event!]
[You have killed 204 players]
[You got EXP and 2000 Coins!]
[Level up!] [Level up!] [Level up!]
[You have reached level 43!]
Despite their good result, Allen's face was a picture of disappointment. He felt a gnawing sense of frustration deep in his gut. He thought he could take on Mac. But it seemed that Mac had managed to slip away once again, snatching up the +7 Basic Armor just moments before the event had ended.
"That Mac guy sure is lucky," Allen hissed, unable to contain his annoyance and disappointment.
Zoe expressed her surprise, "I surely didn't expect that."
Vivian tried to guess, "Could it be Mac planning this already? Or is this his trap?"
Bella, who had been analyzing the situation, answered, "I'm not sure about that. Besides, the whole treasure box is placed randomly. He has no way of knowing what he will get. So yeah---" She smiled dryly. "He is surely lucky."
Allen, still brooding over his loss, added, "Maybe that healer asked Mac to do it. Maybe that's also why Mac changed his target, from me to treasure."
Hearing Allen's guess, it sounded reasonable to them. The girls immediately agreed. But his face still looked downcast, and they could sense his dejection. However, they did not want to leave him alone in his misery, so they tried to cheer him up.
"It's okay, Allen," said Shea, her voice as soothing as a gentle stream. "I'm sure you'll be able to kill Mac in the next event."
Allen nodded, but his face remained unchanged. "I know. I'm not really obsessed with killing Mac either," he admitted. He knew this wasn't an obsession, it was just a disappointment. It was like… a battle without a climax, without a result. It was so irritating.
The girls exchanged glances.
"Then what's with that look on your face?" Shea asked, her tone gentle.
"I'm just annoyed that the first event ended before I finished my fight with Mac. And now even Mac managed to get the jackpot," Allen gave up.
"Don't think too much about it, Allen," said Bella, her voice full of hope. "I'm sure in the next event, you will get more."
Allen sighed, his shoulders slumping. "Yeah, I definitely get that. Come to think of it, if it weren't like that, it wouldn't be interesting, right?" Suddenly, he pulled one corner of his lips up, an evil smile spreading across his face.
"You're right," Bella answered.
The girls felt a little relieved that Allen was already smiling. They had been worried about his mood earlier, but now they were glad to see that he had bounced back. They thought Allen was able to accept what happened to him. They also returned to their previous atmosphere, cheerful yet devilish and calm. In that calm, Allen suddenly thought of something.
"Do you want to continue our hunt?" Allen asked turning to the girls.
"Where?" Larissa asked him back, her voice laced with exhaustion.
"To the Tower of Power tower, of course. Where else?" Allen said. It was an obvious answer. "We need to reach a minimum level of 50 to hunt in the player maps, remember?" he reminded them.
Larissa let out a long exhale. "Well, I thought Kafra told you that we have another hunting place," she said with a hint of complaint in her tone. She hoped that they could explore more.
"That's too much to ask," Jane said in a skeptical tone, shaking her head.
Larissa turned to her. "I know, but who knows?"
Jane shook her head, but Zoe was already stepping forward. "I'm in," she said without further ado.
"Us too," said Bella as she glanced at Alice, who nodded her agreement.
"Before we go, have you refilled your potion stock?" Shea reminded them just like a mother reminded her kids to finish their homework.
"Geez, we almost left unprepared," Zoe said with a huff.
They quickly checked their inventory, making sure they had enough potions to last them through the dungeon crawl.
