Chapter 221: A Worse Fate Can’t Be Imagined

After escaping from their encirclement Amahle dialed La Madre’s phone number, where she immediately began chastising the woman for causing such a tactical blunder.

“What the hell Selena! You told me my job was simple! Take that obese piece of shit out and escape to the extraction zone where a helicopter would be waiting for me! But there was no fucking helicopter! I was stuck with my thumb up my ass, while surrounded by hostiles! And you sent just one fucking guy to get me out of that mess?”

Selena’s voice was as calm and seductive as it always was. She did not fear the freelance assassin one bit, and instead spoke to her as if she were a mere child.

“But my dear, did the one fucking guy I sent not get you out of there? You should mind your tone with me missy, I promised you a helicopter, and there was a helicopter there… It’s just that things became unexpected on another front, and we needed to move that asset elsewhere. The moment this was communicated to me, I sent somebody to pick you up.”

Amahle was very clearly trying her best not to blow up in Selena’s face, or at least over the phone. There was a very clear expression of intense anger on her otherwise pretty face, causing Alex to grab the phone from her hand so that he could speak with the vicious drug queen herself.

“I got her out alive. She’s fine. A little pissed off, but fine nonetheless. Where do you want me to drop her off?”

La Madre’s voice suddenly turned coy as she spoke to Alex with a far more seductive tone in her voice.

“Well, if it isn’t my little golden god… How was the task? Was it to your liking?”

Alex shrugged slightly while continuing to drive the truck, before answering honestly to the woman on the other end of the line.

“I honestly expected it to be worse than it was. We came under fire, waited them out into the night, then I slit their throats while they slept. Fucking amateurs. No way we were up against Jalisco, so who did I just kill?”

Alex’s brutal honesty, and the way he talked about murdering Selena’s enemies turned her on immensely as she spoke to the man with an alluring tone in her mature voice.

“Oh? Did you dispatch them so easily? Well, I guess the Gulf Cartel is not enough of a challenge for you… Well the good news is we are coming closer to putting together a plan for Jalisco’s little princess and her big day. So the level of competition you are dealing with should increase soon enough.

As for the little chocolate beauty sitting next to you, drop her off at the compound, you know the one. I have more work for her. But you have earned yourself a brief break. Call me back in a week and I might have some work for your lover boy. Until then enjoy yourself. And try not to get kidnapped by one of our rivals again…”

Alex was about to make a remark on this when the woman hung up on him, causing him to have a bitter expression on his face. This elicited a mocking laugh from Amahle who grabbed her phone back from the man before sharing his misery.

“Hah! It seems I’m not the only one who that bitch keeps pissing off?”

Alex remained silent as he drove the pickup truck towards their eventual destination, but the journey was long and Amahle could not help herself from learning why Alex had chosen to join this bloody line of business.

“I don’t get it… You’re famous, and worth more money than you could possibly ever spend. You also have two dozen beautiful women by your side who will listen to your every command. So why? Why get involved with the drug business? Why become a murderer for the cartel?”

Alex sighed heavily and shook his head. It was not as if he really had a choice in this matter. Tanks to the Richard and his attempt on Alex’s life and that of his family. Alex had to rely on the Los Zetas to end his blood on his behalf, and in doing so, incurred a great debt to the criminal syndicate. He, of course, explained this, before saying something that Amahle found to be peculiar.

“Besides… My destiny was always to come to Mexico… It just so happens that there are several women here involved in the drug business who I am forced to pursue…”

Why Alex would be forced to pursue these women, and who was powerful enough to compel Alex to do such a thing was the immediate question on Alex’s mind. He was just about to say something about this, when Amahle received a text message causing her to curse before throwing her phone out the window of the speeding pickup truck.

“That fucking prick! He has the nerve to taunt me after setting me up like this!”

Alex was curious just who Amahle was talking about when he saw a message from the system enter his thoughts.

[Amahle is angry at Angel for taunting her!]

[-5 Affection from Amahle to Angel!]

[Amahle’s Affection to Angel: 45/100]

It was only now that Alex remembered that he was actively competing with a drug prince for the favor of the heroines in this arc. Things had gone so smoothly so far, minus the whole drugging and kidnapping, that he had felt like he was in easy mode. But this message was a stern reminder that his life was quite literally at stake in this war for the hearts of five heroines, one of which he still had yet to meet.

Knowing this, Alex’s expression turned stern, while Amahle pouted in silence. How he would cross the Drug Prince of the Jalisco Cartel and come out on top of the whole violent exchange, Alex still did not know the answer.

But he was determined to win this battle. After all there were many beautiful women who would mourn his passing if he were to suffer from a bad ending in this story arc, and several daughters who would go fatherless. And Alex could not fathom a worse fate for his daughters than to be raised by single mothers…
