Chapter 82 82. I Am The Progenitor
Chapter 82 82. I Am The Progenitor
Sam’s theory was indeed correct. Starsuper could actually see a video game-like status screen on top of everyone’s head.
What’s more, is that this system-like screen also allowed him one more function. That was to ‘disable’ or suppress someone’s ability.
That was his [Divine Sight]
However, he does so by cutting off one’s connection to their ability biologically. Progenitor, the one who literally manipulates biology, is immune to this effect.
Not only that, but this ability also lets him see the person’s location whom he had ‘scanned’ before.
That means that once Starsuper sees a target, he locks onto it like heat signature detecting missiles.
This ability also doesn’t work on the Progenitor. In fact, it doesn’t work on anyone within his bodily radius.
After carefully inspecting the kid, Starsuper nodded once, and the instructor beside him shouted.
-“Next! Kiara Vecteronva! Ability, Ice Manipulation!”
The boy stepped aside and joined the other line before a silver-haired girl walked up to Starsuper.
She was sweating like crazy, and Starsuper didn’t need his Divine Sight to know that she was up to no good..
He still used his ability and found out that she was actually hiding her primary ability.
Her main ability was [Serpent Physiology and Mythological Serpent Summoning], making Starsuper instantly realize her real identity as Medusa.
He just shook his head and nodded. Although she was a Supervillain, Starsuper had no time to deal with the extras. He was here to kill the final boss right now.
That’s not to say he wouldn’t deal with the extras later.
Kiara gawked at him with a dumbfounded expression as if she couldn’t believe what had happened here.
She supposed she fooled the Starsuper with her scared little innocent girl act. In truth, Starsuper didn’t even see her face clearly.
-“Next! Viera Black! Ability, Force Reflection!”
(How did she escape? Are we, in actuality, overvaluing Starsuper?)
‘No, but I am certainly overvaluing your intellect. Are we really the same?’ Sam couldn’t help but roll his eyes at that obvious dumb question.
It was apparent what just happened here. Starsuper let her go just to catch her later.
He did so for two reasons.
One, if he were to catch her now, she was sure to resist. No matter how stupid Kiara may be, she was a [Calamity-Rank] threat. She was sure to kill at least a few of the students here before going down.
That bloodshed would’ve caused a commotion. And that commotion would’ve turned into panic among the students.
Panic means a chance to escape or a chance to strike. Both of which Starsuper couldn’t afford to give the Progenitor right now.
Second, she was just an extra. Why fuss about a mere goblin when there’s a dragon to hunt.
“This sure is taking a long time, right Sam?” Drake mumbled in a bored tone from behind.
“Mmm,” Sam just hummed and nodded before turning around and facing Drake.
“What?” Confused, Drake asked.
“Drake, you’re a Dragonheart, right?” Sam shot an obvious question before continuing. “Tell me one thing, have you seen a Dragon?”
“Mmm, not a living one, no. No one in our generation has seen a living dragon. But I’ve seen pictures, yeah.” Drake touched his chin. “Why do you ask?”
“Nothing. I was just thinking how nice it would be if they were still extant, right?”
“Yes, but then I would’ve been ruling over you all! Hahaha!” Drake kidded shamelessly.
He wasn’t hiding or holding the fact that his clan really did try to take over the world. Instead, he was making jokes about that!
“Yes, but what’s so wrong with that?”
“Huh?”
“I mean, the reason the Dragonheart clan tried to disrupt the power balance of the world was that they wanted to eliminate border conflicts, right?”
“You don’t see anything unfair with that reasoning? Are you okay, Sam?”
“No, honestly, your clan could’ve unified the borders and eliminated any further conflicts between countries.”
Drake hesitated at those words. He looked at Sam like he was looking at an eccentric man. After all, what 19 years old talks like that?
It was confirmed that the Dragonheart clan wanted to unify the world, but they were literally starting a war for it!
They were bringing peace by oppression! That kind of peace wouldn’t have lasted! Someone would’ve risen up to that kind of power abuse!
“They were ready to murder people for their own subjective and selfish vision, Sam. They were forcing their ideals on everyone. So no, I don’t think that was the proper thing to do. Right goals? Yes. But not the right way to achieve them.”
“Why does the way matter?” Sam shook his head as if he didn’t comprehend what Drake meant by that.
“All that matters, in the end, is results. Taking wrong decisions and forcing your worldview on others makes you a villain, sure.
“But if you possess the power to change the world and make it a better place, yet you still do nothing, then aren’t you just worse than a villain?”
Before Drake could reply to that weird and unexpected question, the instructor announced the next name.
-“Next! Samael Gracefell! Ability, Biology Manipulation!”
…Silence. Dread silence.
As soon as the instructor disclosed the ability of Samael Gracefell, which should have been Bio-electricity manipulation, as Biology Manipulation, a deafening silence took over the field.
No one could believe what had just taken place. Was it a joke? Should they laugh? That couldn’t be real. It must’ve been a blunder!
However, it wasn’t a blunder as even after seconds of silence, no correction was spoken.
Starsuper turned his head to his right to face the instructor, who announced this and hoped to get some answers.
But when he turned to his right, he saw that the bald instructor was already looking at him with a creepy grin.
His eyes were rolled back. Probably they were rolled back all this time. Starsuper just didn’t notice them.
-Step
A sound of a footstep resounded throughout the silence just then. Starsuper looked at his front only to behold a black-headed boy stepping in front of him.
“Go on, use those eyes of yours on me,” Sam uttered those words with a calm expression as if those were the most normal words to speak in this situation.
Slowly, his expression changed, and his lips curled into a smile. An eerie smile that even sent chills down Starsuper’s spine.
“I introduce myself to you as the current Progenitor. Nice to meet you.”
