Chapter 183 - He Wants To Bite An Apple
Chapter 183 - He Wants To Bite An Apple
Ji Yao was like a little girlfriend throwing a tantrum because her boyfriend got swindled. The only difference was that his tantrum was anything but sweet and cute.
Actually, calling him a little girlfriend was a little far fetched. To be precise he was like that aunty who sent her husband to buy bok choy at the market for a specific amount only to have him come back with shrivelled up bok choy that spent the entire day basking in the sun like salted fish for double the amount.
Yes, he was a rich little young master whose father robbed the affluent and chased legendary treasure but he couldn't tolerate Rui Fei being swindled.
Crouching down on the ground his palm hovered a few inches above the soil. A curious Rui Fei caught up with him and asked, "What are you doing?" crouching down beside him.
"Teaching an old man a lesson," he replied but if only he knew that it was Rui Fei who forced that old man's hand to sell the set of brushes he might not have been that excessive.
"Uhm.... that?" said Rui Fei raising his index finger but when he saw Ji Yao's expression he shut his mouth immediately. He was like that husband who knows it was his fault something happened but was scared to tell his wife who was standing up for him.
He could own up like a man but Rui Fei had a shifty moral compass. To be exact he wasn't a good guy which was sort of a trait of the Huishe clan.
Slowly, Ji Yao's seraphic energy began to seep into the soil. A crimson like mirage disappeared beneath the surface before merging with the earth's vital energy. Everything whether it be leaves, grass or rocks have energy.
It was that energy Ji Yao took advantage of. Through the earth's vital energy his seraphic force journeyed down before tapping the nearest source of lava.
Agitated the viscous red liquid spurt in all directions like it had reached its boiling point due to the seraphic energy Ji Yao injected into it. After a second or two the hot lava came under control and began to flow upwards at a steady pace.
Breaking through the compact soil like a snake it flowed in a specific direction. Above ground, in an old shop targetted for scholars, a gleeful old man was counting and recounting the gold coins he had gotten from that little girl.
His loot was worth half his entire shop after selling a counterfeit brush set left to him by his grandfather who had swindled hundreds of wannabe scholars who had the unfortunate luck of encountering him.
He didn't want to sell because he knew it was junk but the more the boy insisted the more he saw an opportunity. The more he refused to sell the higher the offer. The price could have gone higher if that little girl hadn't stepped in.
She had momentarily terrified him into refusing her money but lucky for him she insisted. Now he had made a year's worth of profit in a single day. How he wished more stupid people like that boy would walk into his door.
He recounted his money again with the wrinkles around his eyes smoothed out as though ironed. His hand that was stacking the coins paused mid-air as he looked around with a puzzled look on his face. He could smell something burning but after searching around there was nothing.
Shrugging it off he continued but before he touched the second gold coin the burning intensified. Thinking these street vendors were up to it again grilling kebabs outside his shop, he strode over in large strides intending to teach them a lesson.
This time he would beat them black and blue. But just before he crossed the threshold of his shop, he heard a gulping sound coming from underneath the floorboard. With his brows furrowed he leaned down which was incredibly difficult because of his strained back.
Breathing heavily he peeked through the gaps on the wooden floor. He could see something expanding like a scarlet balloon underneath. Vexed he looked closely with his lips contorted in a weird way only to be startled when the vicious balloon popped spewing out hot lava.
Unable to figure out what was going on, he leaned down again forgetting he almost lost his eye. Springs of lava sprung up all over his shop in every corner. His store was about to end up like Pompeii with the only difference being that these were puddles of lava slowly creeping into his shop.
"AAAAAAHHHHHHHH!" screamed the old man leaping out of his shop while holding on to the coins for dear life. Unfortunately, karma had a way to deal with a person like him. His lovely gold coins fell on the floor with a loud clanking sound when he tripped at the door stomp.
He had to watch his coins rolling away before landing on the hot lava. "NOOOOOO!!!" he yelled performing a dramatic opera scene. A sizzling sound was heard as the dazzling gold mixed with the lava creating a beautiful blend that could be considered art.
Having screwed over the culprit Ji Yao got up on his feet only bump heads with Rui Fei. He drew in a cold breath of air with his hand on his forehead. His eyes stung from the pain. It was as though he had hit his head on a bag of sharp rocks.
What was infuriating was that Rui Fei seemed fine. The guy who always whines to him about his injuries was actually fine like nothing had happened.
This line of thinking was leading him towards questioning each and every injury this kid had brought to him before. He was beginning to suspect that it was a manipulation tactic but before he could delve deeper into the details, Rui Fei stretched out his fingers and removed Ji Yao's hand while saying, "Are you okay. I am so sorry Yao-ge," in a soft yet anxious tone.
Ji Yao didn't know what to say. He silently watched as Rui Fei scrutinized his forehead looking for any slight signs of injury. His face was ridden with worry like he was inspecting a porcelain artefact for cracks.
They were so close to each other that he could see Rui Fei's Adam's apple bobbing under his skin. The way it flowed rubbing against the skin had fascinated Ji Yao so much that he wanted to take a bite.
In fact, the urge to take a nibble was so strong that he subconsciously stood on his toes as though reaching over to take a bite but unfortunately, Rui Fei moved before he could do it.
