Chapter 218 - Hearty Defenseless Meal
Chapter 218 - Hearty Defenseless Meal
"No wonder Yao-ge likes Dage so much otherwise with his attitude Fei-ge would remain single for life," continued Rui Li after having deduced the same thing.
"Do you dare say it to his face?" asked Rui Yewan as he turned his heels to leave.
Rui Li followed behind him as she replied, "I wouldn't dare," with a sweet smile on her face, "if I do I will say I heard it from you."
Rui Yewan almost rolled his eyes to the back of his head wondering why he even bothered protecting Rui Li in the nightmare.
While the two siblings were having a meaningless conversation, Ji Yao was sitting on the floor in front of his Kang table massaging his temples. He sat with his right knee bent. His elbow was resting on his thigh propping up his hand that was rubbing his aching temples.
He had just thrown up the little food that he ate just now which spent most of his energy. His face had lost some colour and there was a slight tremble in his body. It seemed his aversion to people had worsened.
He had never thrown up before neither had he ever felt like someone was splitting his head open. His skin felt a little uncomfortable like a colony of ants were crawling up his body. In conclusion, he had never felt this worse before.
The only logical explanation was that his body had been exposed to his compatible match and if anyone else touched him his symptoms become much more severe. The best way to explain it would be like in an instance where someone is exposed to wagyu beef for a considerable amount of time only to be forced to go back to eating chicken intestines not that I am saying Xiaoyu is chicken intestines but you get the idea.
There is nothing wrong with chicken intestines, in fact, I quite enjoy them as well but there is a great disparity between these two protein sources. Anyway, this pirate king was especially miserable.
He reached out for the cup of water on the table. He hadn't noticed the severity of the tremors in his body until water spilt on his fingers. His hand was shaking so much that the half-filled cup spilt on the table. He placed the cup back down on the table and held the shaking arm with his other hand.
"Rui Fei," he mumbled as he put his hand down on his lap. He missed Rui Fei so much not only because he was in dire straits. For the past few days he had painted ceaselessly and the subject of his portraits was obvious. All he could think about was him but he had never missed Rui Fei as much as he missed him now.
He would have loved to have him by his side but he was also worried for him. If anything happened to him then how was he supposed to live after that? He wanted to be selfish yet at the same time, he was scared to lose him.
Ji Yao slowly lay his head on the table resting for a while. Unfortunately for him, evil never sleeps. A few feet from Red Bane a shadowy figure was hovering above the water and where ever it went pitch black darkness followed. Soon the cloudy skies were covered in inky darkness like a thick blanket had been thrown over covering the sun.
As it moved it made an incoherent sound that couldn't be easily deciphered. The only thing one could discern was that it was a conversation happening at a speed so fast making it difficult for one to keep up. As the figure approached the ship it suddenly stopped and stiffly turned its head looking at the direction of the rocky shores nearby.
The darkness spread over Red Bane but it didn't move. It was looking in the opposite direction sensing something. It had to be something delicious and easy prey. Deciding it could eat this pie that had fallen from the sky first and gain a great advantage by consuming the person's aether it shifted targets. As it vanished Ji Yao who had been lying on the table suddenly turned his head and gazed through the crystal glass window.
Just now he had sensed something but before he could grasp the feeling, the thing disappeared. It seemed he was a little sensitive after being exposed to this thing in the keystone. This is why he was able to sense its presence.
Something must have attracted that thing's attention otherwise why would it change targets? He immediately got up and left the cabin his expression that of worry. He found his crew standing outside vigilantly staring up at the dark skies.
"Is anyone missing?!" he asked as he grabbed Old Du's spyglass. Old Du placed his hand on either side of his waist staring at Ji Yao with an inquisitive expression.
"Nah, even our bona fied coward is on board," replied Big Hei as his hand harshly landed on the shoulder of the man who ran away earlier screening, "We are all gonna die!"
The man bit his lips preventing himself from yelping out loud. Big Hei was especially heavy-handed which meant it was incredibly painful. If he cried out one more time he might get kicked off the ship and told to swim back home.
Ji Yao was looking through the spyglass scanning the waters. It was dark but he didn't have a problem seeing. He turned his head to take a glimpse of the coward from earlier. His gaze was especially icy making the man cower in fright.
His gaze shifted back to the waters and he spotted a figure disappear behind some rocks. There had to be something there otherwise why would it go there instead of here?
"Prepare to disembark... no one stays behind," he said before striding back into his cabin.
Everyone, "....."
"Even Xiao... never mind," said Old Du after seeing his figure disappear. But a second later Ji Yao stepped back and replied,
"Wake her up!" From his voice alone one could tell he was extremely angry. Not willing to cross swords with this King, Old Du rushed to the lower deck while looking for something to wake up sleeping beauty and it wasn't a kiss from a handsome prince.
Meanwhile, the figure had reached the place where it sensed subtle hints of seraphic energy. Following its keen senses, it searched the rocky beach for its target. Since this was its territory, it didn't take long for it to find Rui Fei who was lying on the ground defenceless.
Ah, how could it not rejoice in its good fortune right now? Christmas had indeed come early for this creature. If someone had told it a second ago that it would find a hearty meal that is the cub it saw the other day in the keystone it wouldn't have believed it.
Its mouth was already salivating as it rubbed its palms together. It was time it enjoyed this high-end exquisite feast fit for a king.
