Chapter 2580 Exceeding Limits!
Lin Mu had used up around eight portions of the Tyrant Bull Marrow so far and had managed to produce six vials with it.
If he had followed his original method, he would have made eight portions. However, due to his use of Instantaneous Double and Triple Refinement techniques, the quantity he could produce had decreased. At the same time, the quality of the refined marrow had increased significantly, rising by two levels.
This increase in quality meant the potential benefits were far greater. Lin Mu couldn't yet estimate the exact gains; he would need to consume the refined marrow to determine its true value.
But he wasn't finished yet.
"I have enough for two more portions," Lin Mu murmured, considering his next step. He wondered if he should perform another Instantaneous Double Refinement and use both portions at once.
That, however, didn't feel satisfying enough. He had already performed Double and even Triple Refinements, and he was certain he hadn't reached his limits. He felt an urge to push further.
'There isn't enough for a Triple Refinement,' Lin Mu thought, 'but if I use the products I've already refined, I might be able to pull it off.'
It was a radical idea, one fraught with risk. If he failed, it would destroy everything he had refined so far. He hesitated briefly. Wasting his hard work wasn't an appealing thought, yet the idea of stopping here felt even worse.
Lin Mu had always been one to take risks, and this was just another challenge.
"Let's go all in!" he declared, his voice fueled by confidence and motivation from his earlier successes.
HISS
He scraped out the remaining Tyrant Bull Marrow and added it to the Four-Legged Crimson Heart Steel Cauldron. The cauldron filled to the brim as Lin Mu repeated the process he had used before.
A few hours later, the marrow had been reduced to just one percent of its original mass. It was nearly ready for the Blood Spirit Distillation phase, the final step in the process.
But instead of proceeding as usual, Lin Mu paused.
He retrieved the eight vials of distilled marrow he had already created.
"Open!" he commanded, unsealing the vials and pouring their contents back into the cauldron.
SIZZLE
The small amount of refined marrow in the cauldron—just a few liters—now mixed with the eight drops of distilled Tyrant Bull Marrow. It was like adding a drop of ink to an ocean. The dilution was extreme, yet Lin Mu wasn't concerned. His goal was entirely different this time.
He intended to push the limits of what was thought possible.
"Aspect of Heaviness!" Lin Mu activated his Dao Skill, focusing his energy on further condensing the marrow.
The process was much slower than before. The density of the mixture was already exceptionally high due to the distilled drops he had added. If not for the inert properties of the drops, the reaction could have been catastrophic—similar to adding water to a beaker of hot sulfuric acid.
Lin Mu maintained his concentration, his Immortal Sense scanning every minute ripple in the liquid. Despite his efforts, seven hours passed with no visible change.
Most would have abandoned the effort at this point, assuming failure, but Lin Mu was not one to give up easily. He persisted, compressing the reconstituted marrow with unwavering focus.
Unbeknownst to him, the delay wasn't caused by the material itself but by an external factor.
The arrays of the Imperial Alchemy Pavilion were struggling to keep up. The immense power required to sustain Lin Mu's refinement had thrown the entire system into chaos, forcing the arrays to divert all their energy to the VIP hall where he was working.
Lin Mu remained oblivious to this, as the array system was designed to operate silently and efficiently. On one hand, this spoke to the quality of the arrays and their creators. On the other hand, it imposed a limit on those with extraordinary talent.
It was a limitation that only a handful of individuals in the Rust Sky World had ever encountered. Even fewer had managed to overcome it.
HUALA
RUMBLE
The Imperial Alchemy Pavilion began to quake. The arrays trembled, and the alchemy rooms shook violently.
"What's happening!?"
"Are we under attack?"
"It can't be an attack, can it?"
"Who would even dare to attack us?"
The alchemists, previously absorbed in their work, were now in a state of panic. The arrays were known for their stability, capable of withstanding direct assaults from Seventh Tribulation Stage Immortals.
Yet now, the entire pavilion seemed on the verge of collapse.
To the outside observer, it might have seemed as though the building was under siege by a thousand attackers. The truth, however, was far more extraordinary: all of this was caused by a single person.
Lin Mu remained deeply engrossed in his refinement, unaware of the chaos he had unleashed.
Hours stretched into more hours as the marrow in the cauldron resisted change. Meanwhile, the sky above the Imperial Alchemy Pavilion underwent a transformation.
An old man in alchemist robes stepped out of another VIP hall, his gaze fixed on the sky.
"What could possibly be happening to make the Imperial Alchemy Pavilion's arrays react this way?" the man muttered. "Even the procurement of materials has been disrupted."
The sustained and constant supply of materials was absolutely essential to Alchemical Refinement. Without it, there were high chances of error due to wrong timings in the addition of the materials during refinement.
It could raise the failure rate by a lot, as such one of the most basic rules of alchemy were to prepare all the needed materials in advance.
Not just that, but one also needed to ensure that there were more than enough ingredients for three or more attempts. After all, Alchemy never had guarantee results and it was better for one to be cautious and prepare for the worst than to just hope for the best.
Only in rare cases would one attempt such refinement with only a single set of ingredients.
