“What are you waiting for? Move! We came are an army of a thousand. Everyone must move!” Said Huo Chen gravely, “Show me what it takes to be the special armed forces for the country. All of you are the best, so, be the best!”

“Yes, sir!” The soldier saluted to his commander and marched out.

Wen He still remained stunned as she could not comprehend the situation.

We’re going out? What?

“We are surrounded, Huo Chen. How are we supposed to break out?”

“Follow my lead.” Huo Chen grasped her hand and ran out of the center. Wen He embraced the wild wind and rolling dust as the bombardment roared into her ears. He waved, “All remaining members follow me. Stay in the team!” The “remaining members” merely consisted of about 10 men. The situation was confusing to Wen He as she screamed inside.

WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING HUO CHEN? ARE YOU REALLY A MILITARY COMMANDER?

You not only sent your sole capable subordinates somewhere far away, you also only kept a measly ten men with you, do you want to get yourself killed?

The questions rolled like Wen He’s eyes as she stayed quiet while holding the hand of this peculiar man as they ventured into the forest and crossed a river. They trod the grassy ground, up the slope and eventually stopped by a cave about 2 meters above the ground.

“Huo Chen, if you thought of hiding here to survive, forget it. The enemies will get here in no time.” Wen He could no longer hold back her criticism towards the conspicuous plan the man had.

There were a few caves, all the result of a failed mining operation as people imagined here to be a mineral vein and wasted months making holes around here.

It was an abandoned mine.

Huo Chen ignored her remark and took out a torch light to light up the way ahead of him. There was a simple yet spacious scooter in front of them. Surprisingly a rail was right beneath it.

Wen He, in her bewilderment, was led onto the scooter as the other men followed.

He pulled the trigger and the scooter started speeding down the winding slope with a sharp turn at one point.

“Get off!” Ordered Huo Chen upon glancing at Wen He.

“Huh? O-okay...” And Wen He was dragged off the ride when it stopped moving as she followed his lead further into the cave. She got even more confused when she saw countless holes around the center of the mountain as they came out, “Huo Chen, when did you connect all these tunnels? No wonder you looked calm. Everything is actually planned!”

Wen He then pounced upon Huo Chen and hugged him tight, “Huo Chen, you are amazingggg!”

“Down!” Huo Chen frowned and pushed her down as a deafening roar raided.

The military base nearby blew up as a mushroom-shaped smoke formed with flames and sparks.

Wen He skipped her heartbeat upon the sight as she subconsciously seized the waist of her man tighter, “We ran fast enough or we would have been blown into ashes...”

Huo Chen did not respond. His eyes were focused far ahead.

The once-dark sky was lit up by a glaring light of different colors—like a kind of firework.

“Go!” He made his next move and prepared to escape.

The strategy of an empty fortress might be effective but not for long.

The enemies would find out about Huo Chen’s little trick upon careful inspection.
