Chapter 151 - CALL
Chapter 151 - CALL
"Can you guys leave me here alone? I want to rest." Lucas asked Veronica and Michelle who were still chatting in his room.
Not because he wanted a break that was the real reason, but because he couldn't wait to receive a phone call that came to his cellphone.
Lucas seemed to be hiding something and didn't want Veronica and Michelle to know about his conversation with the caller. I don't know who that person is, it seems that person is very important to Lucas.
Veronica and Michelle looked at Lucas. "Okay, Lucas. Looks like it's time for you to rest." She said as he turned back to Michelle.
"Michelle, looks like we should find another more comfortable place to talk." Veronica suggested.
Michelle smiled wryly, before responding to the suggestion of the middle-aged woman sitting opposite her.
"Maybe next time, Madam. Now I have to go home because I have to accompany Adley to Lucas' business client's wedding." Michelle replied as she grabbed the bag beside her, slinging it over her left arm.
"All right, Michelle."
After Veronica and Michelle came out of the room, Lucas immediately grabbed his cellphone from the nightstand. Intend to call back the contact number that had been calling him repeatedly.
Instantly the flat object was attached to his ear, emitting a sound indicating that the call was connected, only that the target had not yet received the call.
"Hello, Martin!" Lucas greeted so enthusiastically, when Martin received a call from him.
Yes, the person in question is Martin. The figure of a brother-in-law who is currently Lucas' only hope. Hope Martin knows Ellena's current situation.
After the accident, this was the first time he spoke to Martin again. He had almost forgotten that Martin was out of the country.
"Where have you been, why didn't you take my call?" Martin immediately protested. "Where have you been all this time? Even your phone number is not active." He added then suddenly made Lucas seem to raise his eyebrows.
Wait! Didn't Martin know about the accident that happened to Lucas, so he asked as if he didn't know Lucas' condition for the past few days? Does that mean that Ellena hasn't told the young man yet?
Lucas thought to himself. If Martin didn't know about the accident, that meant he didn't know where Ellena and Briana were at this time either.
"Even I can't even contact my sister. Where are you guys actually? Why is your number just activated and my sister's number hasn't been active until now."
Lucas was right. It turned out that Martin did not know anything about the accident. It seemed that he didn't even know Ellena's whereabouts.
"Martin, how are you there? Are you all right?" Lucas asked deliberately changing the subject.
It seemed he also had to keep the accident a secret from Martin, just like Ellena did. It must be Ellena's reason for not wanting to worry the young man.
"I won't be fine, if you make me worry like this. What exactly happened?" said Martin a little annoyed.
"Nothing. We're fine here, Martin. You'd better focus on your school instead of worrying about us. We're here in good health. You don't believe me. I can take good care of them, Martin. You don't have to. excessive!" it was obvious Lucas was trying not to worry about Martin.
"Okay, but please connect me with my mother and sister, I want to talk to them." Martin asked which suddenly made Lucas look confused.
"Hm ... I'm out of town working on a branch company. So, I can't give this phone to Mom or Ellena." Lucas answered simply. Right now that was all he had in mind, hoping that Martin would believe it right away and ask no more questions.
"Then, how can I contact my brother?" asked Martin which managed to make Lucas stunned for a moment.
"Or should I just call the landline number?"
"Don't!" said Lucas reflexively.
"Why?"
"Hm ... the telephone line at home was cut and still in the process of being repaired." Lucas replied again getting the idea of ????a lie.
"Are you serious?" asked Martin as if in disbelief.
"Yes, of course. How could I lie." Lucas replied.
"Okay. Then please give my sister's phone number. Did she change the sim card?" Martin said then, again making Lucas dizzy looking for an answer.
Ah, he shouldn't have contacted Martin, if he knew it would end like this. Just let Martin fight with his worries.
"No, Martin. Ellena's contact was still active a few hours ago. You'll try to call again later." Lucas suggested.
"Akh, you make me suspicious. What really happened to my sister and mother, huh! Tell me!" Martin said firmly that he still believed in his suspicions that something had happened to his family, because this was the first time he had had a hard time contacting Ellena.
"What do you suspect of me. Your mother and sister are fine. You don't need to worry. The next time she calls me, I'll let her know you're worried about her."
"Okay. Please pass the message from me as soon as possible and don't make me worry if you want to see me succeed in school here!" said Martin emphatically.
Their conversation was over. Lucas finally breathed a sigh of relief and avoided Martin's question for a while. It seemed that now he had to be ready to make an answer, so as not to be confused again, if at any time Martin asked about Ellena and her mother again.
***
The next morning. In front of a travel company office in the city of Bogor, Ellena was seen standing holding a card in her hand. She glanced at the card repeatedly, just wanting to match the company name on the card to the one clearly displayed above the office building.
"Finally, I found this office." Ellena grinned happily as she gazed up at the top of the building, realizing that the company name she had matched was appropriate.
Ellen rushed inside, approaching the reception desk.
"Welcome, can we help you?" said one of the receptionists who stood opposite Ellena.
"I want to meet Mr. Richard, the leader of this company," answered Ellena which managed to make the two receptionists who heard it look frowning, as if there was something strange about her.
"Excuse me, do you have an appointment with Mr Richard?" one of the receptionists asked again.
Ellena was stunned for a moment, before responding. "I don't have an appointment with Mr Richard, but yesterday he gave me this business card and asked me to come here." She replied with a pitiful expression, hoping the two receptionists would give him permission to see Richard.
"Excuse me, what is your name, Miss?" asked the receptionist.
"Ellena, Miss. My name is Ellena." Ellena replied enthusiastically.
"Okay. It just so happens that Mr. Richard is in a meeting, maybe 10 to 15 minutes the meeting will just be over. You'd better wait in the lobby. I'll tell Mr. Richard later that you are waiting for him," said the beautiful receptionist named Sheila, according to the name given to her. stamped on the woman's right chest.
"Okay. Thank you," replied Ellena with a wide smile. She then moved from that place, approached a lobby, then landed her body on a black sofa that was neatly designed there.
She seemed to be holding her right leg, which felt a little sore, because she had to walk many times from a public transportation stop where she had been riding the wrong way.
Living in a city that is still unfamiliar to her, she got on the wrong vehicle and was finally dropped off in the middle of the road, because it turned out that the vehicle was in a different direction from the address he was looking for. Luckily, she asked the public transport driver first. If not, I don't know what her fate will be. Maybe she got lost somewhere else.
"Miss, you are waiting for Mr. Richard's room."
The woman's distinctive voice immediately made Ellena flinch and avert her eyes. I don't know since when Sheila was standing there.
"Is that true?" Ellena asked as she looked seriously at Sheila's face, just to make sure that there was nothing wrong with her hearing.
"Yes, of course. Please, Miss. Mr. Richard's room is on the 3rd floor."
Ellena immediately got up when Sheila invited her to go to the company leadership room in the office.
Without thinking, Ellena went straight to the elevator, about to meet the man who might become a guardian angel for her. Only a few minutes in the elevator, she was now in front of a room that said "CEO" on the door.
Ellena sighed, then raised her right hand to give a knock on the black door.
"Enter!"
A reply from inside the room could be heard clearly by Ellena's ears. A happy grin appeared on her face. She then turned the silver door knob very slowly and carefully.
"Excuse me ...." Ellena whispered as she poked her head into the room.
"Come in, Elle!" Richard asked with a smile when he noticed Ellena's appearance in the room, even though it was only part of the body.
Ellena smiled, then straightened before stepping inside, approaching Richard who was sitting in his oversized chair.
The man was seen wearing a white shirt whose sleeves were rolled up to his elbows, while his black coat seemed to be slung over the back of the chair he was sitting on. He still looks dashing, even in that sitting position. However, he immediately stood up as soon as Ellena drew near to him.
"Good morning, Mr. Richard. Sorry, I have interrupted your time," said Ellena who was already standing in front of Richard's desk.
"Don't call me that. Just think of us as friends," Richard replied casually. He then stretched out his hand. "How are you?" he asked then.
"Okay. You alone?" Ellena replied as she took Richard's hand and shook hands.
"Just like you. Please sit down!" Richard asked Ellena to sit down, then he landed back in his oversized chair.
Like Richard, Ellena also seemed to be sitting in the chair opposite Richard, only the table was obstructed as a barrier between them.
