Chapter 67 - YOU LITTLE BOY!
Chapter 67 - YOU LITTLE BOY!
Martin looked straight ahead as he clenched his fists. He swung the burly muscular arm with slightly hasty steps through the hospital hallway. His face reddened and his jaw clenched, indicating that he was harboring anger. In fact, visible veins that protrude around his temples.
After listening to Ellena's explanation, at that moment he decided to solve the problem that made his heart flutter. Even though Ellena had repeatedly refused and persuaded him not to do anything rash, he was still insistent and didn't want to care about his sister's request.
Martin clearly did not accept his sister being treated like that by Lucas. After all, he was the only brother Ellena had, so it was only natural that he tried to protect and protect his sister.
'You'll see, I won't let anyone hurt my sister, including her own husband. My family is poor, but that doesn't mean he can trample on our self-esteem at will." Martin muttered with his breath already ragged from holding back his anger.
Martin quickened his pace. It seemed like he couldn't wait to show his anger to Lucas. No matter how hard his sister tried to calm his down, he still couldn't contain his anger long term. Until a few minutes later, he arrived at the destination.
From a distance, Martin could clearly see the figure of Lucas who was sitting in front of the ICU room. The pounding of Martin's footsteps that echoed slightly made Lucas look to look at him.
Seeing the irregularity that appeared on Martin's face, Lucas immediately got up from his seat without taking his eyes off one bit. Yes, he noticed that there was a line of anger showing on the young man's face. This of course stunned him for a moment until Martin was standing right in front of him at a very close distance.
The cold war ensued. They looked at each other for a moment. Neither Martin nor Lucas spoke first. The atmosphere in front of the ICU immediately heated up because of the actions of the two men who were now arguing.
Martin's gaze was so cynical. Inwardly, he wanted to throw a raw bombshell in Lucas' face right then and there. However, he still tried to hold back and didn't want to be too rash in doing things. Yes, of course he knew what Lucas who had everything would do if that happened.
Not for not being brave. Martin just doesn't want him to have to spend the rest of his life behind bars, just because he made the wrong move. That was the reason why he didn't hit Lucas right away, even though his hands were itching to smack his brother-in-law's face.
After staring at each other for a long time, Lucas suddenly flashed his trademark smile. He did understand the meaning of Martin's gaze on him, but he tried to remain relaxed in front of the young man as if nothing was going on between them.
"Why are you here? Isn't your sister alone there?" Lucas asked pleasantly and tried to quietly divert Martin's anger.
Meanwhile, Martin seemed to have a bitter smile on his face, before he responded to Lucas' question.
"What do you care?" He asked in a curt tone.
To complete the play, Lucas immediately had an astonished expression as if he didn't understand the meaning behind Martin's words, even though he knew exactly where the young man was talking.
"What do you mean? Why are you suddenly acting like this to me? Is there something wrong with you?" Lucas asked stupidly.
"Not me, but you!" Martin said, still not taking his eyes off Lucas' face. Full of hypocrisy. That's what he caught from his brother-in-law's handsome face.
Lucas seemed to chuckle and still act as if he didn't understand what Martin was saying. Little did he know that Martin was so sick of his pretentious attitude.
"I really don't understand what you're saying."Lucas said pretending to be confused.
"Are you so stupid as to not understand the feelings of little people like us?"
Martin's question suddenly made Lucas' jaw tighten slightly. However, Lucas quickly neutralized his emotions right then and there, even though he didn't accept that Martin had said he was stupid and had no feelings.
"You don't have to be so stupid and innocent. I already know everything!" Martin said, slightly lifting the corner of his lips.
Meanwhile, Lucas seemed to respond with resignation. He lowered his head for a moment, then looked down at Martin's face. It seemed that this time he had to give up. Not that he lost, but he just didn't want a fight between himself and his brother-in-law.
Lucas was well aware of the mistake he had made, which made Martin so angry with him. The best way to deal with Martin right now is with a cool head, not the other way around.
"Okay, I'm sorry," Lucas whispered which suddenly made Martin raise an eyebrow.
Martin didn't expect Lucas to admit his mistakes so easily. Even so, he couldn't just believe Lucas' words and attitude this time. Maybe this was part of Lucas's charade to trick him.
Yes, maybe Martin's guess was right, because Lucas' attitude this time was not unusual. Lucas was an arrogant man who never even once lowered his pride just to admit he was wrong. However, for some reason this time he seemed so resigned and gave up. In fact, there was not even the slightest line of deceit on his face. He looks so sincere. Could it be that he was really saying that? Who knows.
"I know you're very angry, so do whatever you want to me ...." Lucas paused for a moment, before he continued his speech. "You want to slap me? Hit me? Or maybe you want to kill me? Please, I'm ready to accept all that." He added with a sincere smile.
Lucas opened his arms slightly as if to show that he truly accepted whatever punishment Martin would give him.
"Is this also part of your play, dear Mr Lucas?" Martin seemed to put his arms in the pockets of the pants he was wearing. He then straightened his body and slightly looked up in front of Lucas, without feeling the slightest bit afraid.
The odd question asked by Martin managed to make Lucas smile a little. He did not expect if his brother-in-law turned out to have characteristics that are almost similar to his wife. Brave. Yes, dare to challenge him.
"As you can see." Lucas reversed Martin's question, hoping that his young brother-in-law would judge for himself.
Again Martin was surprised by Lucas' answer and attitude. Ah, why is Lucas so relaxed about it. Is his face still not scary enough to make Lucas look normal?
"Come on, do what you want to do!" Lucas asked when Martin was silent and just stared at him sarcastically.
Martin seemed to look away in any direction, but it didn't last long. He then looked back at Lucas while pouting he lips. "Why would I dirty my own hands just to do useless things." He snapped.
Lucas smiled even more when he heard Martin's answer. Like? Certain. He was very happy, because Martin dared not do anything to him. Funny. The youth who had previously looked so valiant against him, suddenly turned shriveled as he tried to act resignedly and admit his mistakes. It seemed Lucas was not wrong to have made the decision to face Martin with a cool head.
"That's not what I wanted!" said Martin suddenly made Lucas roll his eyes.
"Tell me what you want." Lucas asked in a low voice.
"It's not wealth or anything that I want from you, much less hurt you. I just want my sister to be happy, so please finish your business immediately. Because after that, I will take my sister away from your life!" Martin said later.
Lucas seemed to jump. He was confused about what to answer. Should he beg Martin to let Ellena stay with him until fate itself will separate them. Ah, but he thought it was unnecessary. He will go out of his way to fight for Ellena and let Martin realize for himself how much love he has for Ellena.
Lucas stepped forward toward Martin. He looked down at the young man's face, then he smiled and grabbed Martin's arms.
"Do you want your sister to be happy?" Lucas asked to reaffirm Martin's words. However, there was no answer from Martin, other than the astonished look that was thrown at him.
"I want to see your sister happy too." Lucas continued later.
Martin chuckled at Lucas' statement this time. "What's in my sister's happiness for you. I don't think my sister's happiness is important to you." He quipped.
For the umpteenth time Lucas relaxed and faced Martin's insulting remarks with just a smile.
"I'm proud of you. At your very young age, but you care about your sister so much." Lucas said while still holding Martin's arm. "You don't need to worry, your sister will definitely be happy with me." He said later.
Martin seemed to snort roughly. It seemed that he had been overwhelmed by Lucas's attitude which was not easily resisted. 'Ah, have I got the wrong person?' He thought.
Martin let go of Lucas's hands from the bases of his arms, before he said, "I just don't want my sister to be hurt by anyone."
"And I'll make sure it doesn't happen to your sister!" Lucas said confidently. "While she's with me." He added later, then put one hand in the pocket of his pants while looking seriously at Martin's face.
Meanwhile, Martin just stared at him stunned. Looks like Lucas has managed to make the young man so numb that he can't move at all.
"Think about your school and don't think too much about adults!" Lucas said with a smile and ruffled Martin's hair slowly, then he left the place and left Martin alone there, without even giving his brother-in-law a chance to speak again. Instantly he shook his head slowly, remembering Martin's attitude just now.
'You little boy.. He's just like Ellena!' He muttered to himself.
