Chapter 678: You Need More Explosives For Slimes
Chapter 678: You Need More Explosives For Slimes
Ok, there's now a bigger slime blob right behind the horde of zombie-slimes.
Unlike the first big blob, this second one was at least two and a half times in size and the slime core seemed to keep rotating around in an orbit in the centre of the slime mass.
I wasn't sure why that was happening but that's what I saw.
The good thing was that there were less zombie-slimes now so Shadow Odeta, Emilia, Lisa and Eins were dealing with them much more easily than earlier.
That gave Delmare all the time she needed to tie two Mana Crystal's to her arrow and letting Eins pour her mana into one while she handled the second one.
Since they were both Shadow Guards, they could easily coordinate with each other to fill the Mana Crystals at the exact same rate.
Shadow Delmare then drew her bow and took aim at the centre of the giant blob, waiting until both the Mana Crystals were near critical mass before loosing the arrow.
It struck dead centre in the middle of the slime, the arrowhead sinking about an inch into its gelatinous body.
Less than a second passed before an explosion blew within the slime's body, causing a big chunk of it to burst apart and fly all around the room to splatter against the walls, ceiling, floor and the other slime monsters.
The explosion was big enough to leave just an inch of slime protecting the cores.
That was enough for Shadow Katsuki to deal with so I directed her to do the same thing where she would cut the cores before the slime could reform itself.
But before she could get to it, the cores suddenly moved deeper into the slime's body like they were being carried away by a wave.
Shadow Katsuki's daggers cut through the slime but failed to hit the cores before they moved.
The slime then started to reform itself, covering back the hole that the explosion created while still continuing its slow shamble towards us.
Godamnit, alright then.
I took out four Mana Crystals and handed it over to Eins who in turn proceeded to tie it to the arrow shaft that Shadow Delmare was holding.
I also commanded Shadow Delmare to change her bow type to a long bow and had Shadow Katsuki fall back to assist the vanguard in holding back the tide of zombie-slimes.
Once all four of the Mana Crystals were fully charged, I let Shadow Delmare shoot the improvised bomb at the giant blob once again.
I was expecting the arrow to hit the blob again but this time, the giant slime actually extended a tendril out to snatch the arrow out from the air.
It then stretched it out like a hand towards the ceiling, staying there in that weird pose.
That was when the Mana Crystals exploded a second later, only affecting the tendril that was used to catch the arrow and nothing else, which was pretty much a superficial wound as it regenerated from it a second later.
What the hell? Did this slime really adapt itself and learned how to deal with my attack? So not only do we have boss monsters that can somehow transform itself to make itself immune to your attacks, we also have them adapting to the situation to give them an edge over us?
Oh you bitch… You want to play it like this? Alright then… Two can play at that game!
I took out the satchel containing the Mana Crystals I have obtained from this Dungeon so far, the bag itself already having a sizable amount of weight in my hands.
I had Shadow Delmare receive it from me while commanding Eins to start building a wall with her Geomancy to impede the zombie-slimes from reaching us while we prepared for it.
While the horde was preoccupied with the wall, I had everyone else start powering up the Mana Crystals and tossing them at the giant slime blob when they reached critical mass.
The blob predictably started to snatch them out of the air and brought them away from the main body.
The Mana Crystals then started exploding and blasting chunks of slime apart wherever the blob had tried to catch them, some of them exploding even before it caught them as I had my Shadow Guards vary the amount of Mana put in them.
It seemed to realise its mistake and frantically tried to move its cores away from the Mana Crystals it had already swallowed while moving the unexploded Mana Crystals to the furthest part of its body.
The explosion continued for well over a minute as we continued to lob Mana Crystals over towards the slime blob even when it wasn't trying to swallow them anymore.
The blob didn't stand a chance as the explosions quickly shaved off more and more of its body away without mercy. ¢??†@??†--???&?$??&?%-*??#-*
When I finally stopped my party from throwing the Mana Crystals, the giant slime had been reduced to a normal sized slime.
Not willing to risk it, I quickly ordered Shadow Katsuki to attack it and watched as she leapt over the horde to stab her dagger into the slime and straight into one of its slime cores.
Before the slime could even realise that it was attacked, Shadow Katsuki withdrew her blade and stabbed it into the second core as well, destroying it completely.
The slime monster then wobbled for a bit before it melted into a puddle just like the other two that came before them.
Immediately afterwards, a good number of the monsters amongst the horde collapsed, leaving just a handful of them that were still trying to break through the wall Eins was maintaining.
That means the remaining ones must be the monsters that the last two 'strippers' were tied to.
Seeing that they were still dancing and not trying to do anything else like merging together to create a bigger slime, I got Shadow Katsuki to attack the one on the left directly while making Shadow Delmare shoot the last one with her bow.
Shadow Katsuki reached the monster and, without even a shred of hesitation, plunged her dagger into the monster's chest.
There was a cry before the 'stripper' fell onto the ground on her knees, just as the other slime monster on the other stripper pole got pierced through rhe chest by an arrow and also collapsed on her knees.
For some reason, these two were screaming quite deafeningly after receiving such a wound and I had to cover my ears to muffle the noise.
Both of them started melting away and I got Katsuki to return to our side instead of just standing beside one of them that was in the midst of melting away.
Right on time too, because the both of them suddenly exploded quite violently, enough to even send a few of the zombie-slimes near them flying away from the shockwave.
Thankfully, we were just far enough so that we weren't affected by the explosions happening over there.
The slime horde then stopped moving, all of them halting in their tracks before they too, melted away into nothing more than puddles on the ground.
With that, the last of the slimes collapsed and I was met with an entire room full of dead slimes and even more Mana Crystals to extract than I had used earlier.
Eins turned to me, as though waiting for the order that she already knew I was going to give so I directed them to start gathering all the Mana Crystals while I went to inspect the rest of the 'strip club'.
A new set of stairs had appeared at the far end of the room so that should be our exit out of this trap.
With the knowledge that our exit was secure, I directed my attention to the remaining poles instead.
Hmm… I wonder… Do they still work even now?
It wouldn't hurt to just try it out on my own right? It's not like someone was forcing me to touch it in the first place.
I reached out my hand to touch one, not really expecting anything to happen from that.
But when my hand came into contact with it, I suddenly felt a desire to grab it and do a spin around it.
I scowled and pulled my hand away, realising that the pole itself has some kind of enchantment that messes with the person's mind or something.
Well, maybe not as sinister as that but I bet that it was there to make the person feel like doing erotic poses with the pole itself.
I guess it's meant to serve as some kind of aid to any party who chose someone with no experience to work the pole to deal with this trap?
I briefly entertained the idea of asking one of my Shadow Guards to try it but I decided against it because I didn't really see a point to it anyway.
Instead, I just focused on gathering all the Mana Crystals they had extracted from the multitudes of slimes around the room.
What? Was there someone around here that wanted to watch me do a pole dance? Too bad, I ain't doing it~
Anyway, I'd say that it was a good haul overall.
Time to get to the next floor!
