Chapter 100

At the animal clinic, Anastasia waited anxiously

outside the emergency room, her hands tightly clenched together.

“Don’t be afraid,” Jason comforted. He was soaked from head to toe, and the weather was freezing.

Even though it did not freeze in Hork during winter, the river water in the residential area was bone- chillingly cold.

Nevertheless, Jason understood how important Snowball was to Anastasia, so he rushed into the river without a second thought.

“Go take a shower and change into dry clothes. You’ll catch a cold.” Anastasia choked with sobs while nervously looking at Jason’s pale face from the cold.

“I’m fine.” Jason sneezed. “I often swim in the winter.”

Anastasia averted her gaze, her eyes red.

“We suggest euthanizing it. The cat has multiple fractures, was violently beaten, and almost drowned. Continuing treatment would be excruciating for it.” The veterinarian came out and let out a sigh.

Upon hearing that, Anastasia’s legs went weak, and she almost fell to the ground.

Both Alastor and Jason stepped forward to support Anastasia. However, this time, Alastor chose Jason.

With teary eyes, Anastasia reached out to hold Jason’s hand. “Snowball is my only family now.”…

“You still have me,” Jason replied as he pulled Anastasia into his embrace. At the same time, he shot a warning look at Alastor.

Alastor clenched his fingers, and Adam’s apple bobbed. He wanted to say something, but the words were stuck in his throat.

The veterinarian sighed again, saying, “You guys should go and see the cat.”

Anastasia walked into the operating room and looked at Snowball lying on the hospital bed, her voice hoarse. “Snowball has been with me for four years.”

Jason felt his heart break seeing her in that state. Hence, he looked away.

Anastasia glanced at Alastor. “Since the day you decided to let me raise Snowball, I’ve treated it as my family.”

Alastor clenched his fingers tightly. He knew he was in the wrong.

Although it was just a cat, Anastasia truly cherished Snowball.

“But your mother ruined everything,” Anastasia said hoarsely.

“Isn’t it just a cat? Stop being so dramatic.” Felicia and Naomi walked in from outside the animal clinic.

Anastasia could not hold it back after hearing those words and shouted emotionally, “It’s just a cat? For you, it’s just a cat. But for me, it’s my emotional support!” She could not help but tremble.

“Alastor, why did you let your mother come and upset Annie?” Jason questioned while holding Anastasia’s hand to support

her.

Alastor’s gaze fixed on Jason and Anastasia’s tightly held hands. He frowned and remained silent for a long time.

“So dramatic,” Naomi commented disdainfully.

“What are you doing here?” Alastor’s expression darkened, asking his mother to leave first.

“Why can’t I come? She’s making such a fuss over an animal. I have to see her and keep an eye on my grandchild. After all, she’s carrying the Lopez family’s child.” Naomi was furious. She wanted to keep an eye on Anastasia for fear that she would play any tricks.

Alastor rubbed his eyebrows and shouted, “Enough!”

“Am I wrong?” Naomi was infuriated.

Alastor did not want to deal with his mother. “Please leave now and stop bothering Anastasia. Both of us raised the cat together. It’s not just an animal like you called it.”

Alastor, too, was mad. However, he did not know how to handle the situation at that moment.

Moreover, Anastasia and Jason were openly holding hands. Alastor still considered themselves a married couple, and her actions seemed like a provocation to him.

“Anastasia…” On the other side, Anastasia’s face turned pale, and her stomach started to hurt badly.

Anastasia sat on the ground, clutching her belly as blood flowed down her legs. In the next second, her vision started to blur.

Behind Naomi, Felicia stood with a smug look. She was waiting to see Anastasia’s fate.

Zachary was present during the DNA paternity test, so Felicia could not tamper with the results. Hence, she found a way to get rid of the child.

Anastasia had just undergone the DNA paternity test. Her body was already weak and could not handle too much stress. Therefore, Felicia instigated Naomi to get rid of Snowball, knowing that would upset Anastasia.

After that, she brought Naomi to provoke Anastasia, hoping she would have a miscarriage.

Felicia would never allow Anastasia to give birth to the Lopez family’s child. Even if they wanted one, the former should be the one to bear the child.

Why right did Anastasia have?

“Anastasia…” Jason panicked and wanted to carry her.

“Get lost!” Alastor pushed Jason aside, his face turning pale as he picked Anastasia up.

Alastor’s voice was shaking as he spoke. “Let’s go to the hospital. We need to go to the hospital.”

He had a bad feeling, sensing that something terrible was about to happen.

Anastasia’s body seemed too fragile, unable to withstand all the stress.

“Well, what’s going on?” Even Naomi was afraid and stepped forward to take a look. “Anastasia, you’re really good at acting. You better don’t let anything happen to my grandchild!”

“Get out of the way!” Seeing his mother blocking the way, Alastor was genuinely angry.

Alastor could not bear the thought of anything happening to Anastasia.

That day, when Anastasia walked barefoot on the glass fragments, he realized his heart hurt as well.

It was impossible to say that he had no feelings for her. After all, they had been married for four years.

However, Anastasia had played too many tricks on him.

He could not trust her anymore.

“Anastasia, don’t be afraid.” Worried that they might be wasting time, Jason did not dare to fight over her with Alastor. His face turned pale, and he wanted to follow them outside.
