Chapter 127

After hearing that, Anastasia fell silent for a long time.

A woman’s sixth sense was actually very accurate. Moreover, she knew Kimberly well.

“Do you like Jason?” Anastasia did not want to be estranged from her best friend.

Kimberly glanced at Anastasia and grew even more flustered. “How is that possible?”

“You’re not good at lying.” Anastasia sighed.

“Well, he is undeniably handsome, and he is loved by everyone everywhere he goes. I admit I had a little crush on him; that was why I was watching him so closely. But a man would not affect our friendship in any way!” Kimberly patted her chest firmly.

As soon as Anastasia heard that, she chuckled helplessly. “You scared me. At first, I thought you disliked Jason.” After a long silence, Anastasia spoke again. “Jason is definitely a good person.”

“Except for his somewhat lacking family background, he is perfect, especially in terms of his physique. He participated in a swimming competition at school wearing nothing but his swim trunks. His physique is amazing!” Kimberly nearly drooled.

Anastasia just smiled, recalling the time she bumped into Jason’s embrace during their reunion in Atharia.

“You and Jason would make a good couple if Alastor did not get in the way. I can tell he likes you.” Kimberly sighed.

Anastasia shook her head. “I’m not worthy of him.”

She didn’t even know how much time she had left.

“You do not have to overthink things, Anastasia.” Kimberly parked her car in front of the hotel. “You simply think too much. You should live every day as if it were your last. Regardless of whether the person you love reciprocates your feelings, the first thing you must do is love yourself.”

Anastasia looked at Kimberly in a daze and nodded. “You’re right.”

Despite having lived for so long, she felt she had not gained much wisdom or clarity in her life.

She had never truly loved herself in those years, which may have contributed to her developing cancer at such a young age.

Indeed, it was time for a change in lifestyle.

For the rest of her life, she promised to love herself properly.

After changing into her dress, Anastasia casually tied up her hair and applied some lipstick before getting out of the car.

Kimberly was a bit worried and waited outside for a while. She only left after Anastasia entered the venue.

She had no idea how Alastor would humiliate Anastasia that evening.

At the venue, a security guard stopped Anastasia. “Madam, may I see your invitation?”

Anastasia took out the invitation and showed it to him.

“I am sorry. Since you are attending as Mrs. Lopez, you must enter with Mr. Lopez. Are you-not together?” The security guard was simply carrying out his duties.

Hearing that, Anastasia stood there and waited.

“Alastor hasn’t arrived yet?” she wondered.

“Mrs. Lopez, did you not get in touch with Mr. Lopez? I saw him walk in with another woman earlier.” The security guard felt awkward and went over to Anastasia when he saw her standing there in high heels. “Why not give him a call?”

Anastasia smiled at the security guard. “All right. Thank you.”

The security guard was a bit puzzled and thought, “What is going on?”

Next, Anastasia took out her phone and called Alastor.

However, Alastor didn’t answer the phone.

At business banquets, guests usually had to leave their phones outside.

Anastasia took a deep breath and turned to leave.

“Anastasia. Suddenly, she was stopped at the entrance of the venue by Felicia.

Anastasia furrowed her brows, displeased. “Since Alastor doesn’t need me to attend, tell him I’m leaving.”

Just then, Alastor’s assistant approached Anastasia and said in a low voice, “Mr. Lopez said that if you leave now, you will have to bear the consequences.”

Anastasia stopped moving and remained still, clenching her fists.

He simply wanted her to wait outside until the banquet was over so that everyone could see how she was humiliated.

“Anastasia, you’re truly pitiful,” Felicia said mockingly. “I heard that your art exhibition venue was canceled. And yet, you’re not willing to swallow your pride and ask Alastor for help.”

Anastasia straightened her posture and looked at Felicia coldly. “Did Alastor send you to tell me all this?”

In actuality, Anastasia had already guessed that Alastor probably wanted her to relent and ask for his help with the art exhibition venue.

“Without a venue, where are you going to hold your art exhibition? Do you plan to do it in a park or by the side of the road?” Felicia covered her mouth and laughed.
