Mo Cuicui giggled, “Wouldn’t we be asking for trouble if we continued to stay here?”
“Don’t try and be cheeky! Get back into your seat!” Sun Lihua rolled her eyes at Cuicui before turning to Chu Li and commanding, “You’re not allowed to leave, Junior Brother Zhao!”
Chu Li grinned, “I’m afraid of upsetting Senior Brother Song, though.”
Song Donglin laughed heartily, “The more the merrier, right? I’ll be happy as long as I get to be around Lihua!”
Sun Lihua glared at him, “Watch your mouth.”
“Okay okay, I’ll zip it,” Song Donglin chuckled.
At that moment, another two young men came lumbering over and stood at both sides of the table.
Chu Li lifted his head to look at the newcomers.
The two young men had handsome looks, but there was a tinge of arrogance in their eyes. The two young men scanned the four people at the table and their gaze landed on Chu Li. “So, are you Zhao Dahe?”
Chu Li nodded his head. “Yes, I’m Zhao Dahe.”
“Perfect! I heard that you ranked first in the entrance exam!” The tall and buff young man coldly smirked.
Chu Li nodded.
“So, you’re the ugliest first place in all of the Holy Church’s history!” The tall and buff young man scoffed.
The other young man nodded. “He is ugly indeed. Just look around the Flavorful Tower, could you find anyone who’s uglier than you? If you do, I’ll make you my Senior Brother!”
Chu Li furrowed his brows. “What are you guys trying to pull?!”
Song Donglin and Sun Lihua were also looking at the newcomers with displeasure.
“Cui Da and Cui Er, what do you think you’re doing!” Song Donglin scrunched his brows and scolded, “Why are you trying to ruin our dinner?”
“Oh, Senior Brother Song!” Cui Da carelessly called out, pretending as if he had just seen Song Donglin. He then clasped his fists together and cried out, “I didn’t see Senior Brother Song and Senior Sister Sun earlier, what a disgrace!”
Sun Lihua frowned faintly. Since she was gentle by nature, she would not speak much even if she was angry.
Mo Cuicui, on the other hand, was watching the show unfold from the sidelines.
“What the heck are you guys trying to do! Do you have no other business to attend to?” Song Donglin chided.
“Senior Brother Song, those are such a poor choice of words, I’d say. We’re just here to catch a glimpse of the celebrity who aced the entrance competition!” The tall and buff young man, Cui Da chuckled. “However, from what we’ve seen, he’s a disappointment! A total embarrassment!”
“Don’t judge a book by its cover! Since you two appear to be free, I’m ordering you two to return to the spirit medicine patch!” Song Donglin chided.
“We’re just here to pay respects to the superstar. We haven’t broken any rules, right? Plus, why are you even siding with them? Don’t forget that we’re part of the inner peaks’ disciples.” Cui Da snickered.
“Inner peak, outer peak, what’s the difference? We’re all still disciples of the Holy Church! Don’t look at the world with such a narrow perspective! Also, since you’ve already paid your respects, you should just leave!” Song Donglin ushered for them to leave.
“Oh, but we’re not done yet. I still want to exchange a few words with him,” Cui Da chuckled.
“Hurry up and be done with it!” Song Donglin puffed.
Chu Li looked at the two young men with his brows raised.
Cui Da exclaimed, “I say, Junior Brother Zhao, don’t you think it’s shameless to enter the peaks with your looks? It’s really an embarrassment to the church!”
Chu Li glared coldly at them.
Delightfully, Cui Da continued, “Had it been me who was born with these looks, I would’ve banged my head and killed myself long ago. Then, I’ll reincarnate and hope that my next incarnation isn’t that ugly!”
“Junior Brother Cui Da!” Sun Lihua could no longer hold it in, she chastised, “Watch your mouth!”
Cui Da replied, “Senior Sister Sun, aren’t I speaking the truth, though?”
“State your intentions! We have nothing against each other, so why are you looking for trouble?”
“Of course I have no grudge with you,” Cui Da nodded before continuing, “but Zhao Dahe, on the other hand, is not to my liking! I can’t help it!”
“You’re both brothers of the same sect.” Sun Lihua stated.
Cui Da shook his head. “That’s exactly what I’m embarrassed about! We’re both from the same sect, but he’s so ugly!”
Chu Li sucked in a deep breath, before growling with a low tone, “Did someone instigate you guys?”
Cui Da and Cui Er exchanged looks of puzzlement with Chu Li.
“Haha, instigating us? Did someone instigate us to trouble you? Do you even know who you are? Go grab a mirror and reflect on yourself!” Cui Da guffawed.
Chu Li responded, “Well since you guys aren’t here because of anybody’s instigation, I’d recommend you to leave right this instant!”
“Woah there kiddo, you sure are wild enough to take the top spot! Want to rumble?” Cui Da chuckled.
Chu Li coldly stated, “The only reason you guys are acting like this is that you’re part of the inner peaks. However, both of you are full of sh*t, and I only need a single blow to defeat each of you. I’ll slaughter both of you like chickens, you trash!’
“You b*stard!’ Cui Da erupted in anger.
Even Cui Er was giving Chu Li the evil eye.
In response, Chu Li coldly snorted, “So, what now? Are you asking for a fight? Don’t forget about the rules!”
The two young men continued to curse and cuss at Chu Li, and they still refused to budge.
However, Chu Li had already seen through their intention of provoking him into a fight.
As such, Chu Li picked up his chopsticks and resumed his dinner. He would occasionally take a sip from his soup as well. It appeared as if their curses had fallen onto deaf ears and that Chu Li did not see them at all.
Sun Lihua knitted her brows together; whereas Mo Cuicui had a look of pure ecstasy. On the other hand, Song Donglin’s face had taken a shade of metallic-green, but there was nothing else he could do. He had already scolded Cui Er and Cui Da twice, but even then, they refused to leave, and Song Donglin could not raise his fists at them.
The scene that broke out quickly gathered the attention of the surrounding disciples, and before long, they were watching the show unfold as well.
Chu Li spotted Duan Qi and Ji Ziwei from within the crowd. They were looking at him with surprise, and there was also a mixture of sympathy in their eyes. The two had some hostility towards Chu Li, as Chu Li had robbed them of their spotlight even after they had been tirelessly cultivated for the past ten years.
The surrounding disciples had put on an expression as if they were watching a good show, and no one came to break up the conflict. They were only here to enjoy the ruckus, and they wished for it to grow as big as possible.
Chu Li suddenly shouted, “Shut up!”
His voice was like a booming thunderbolt among clear skies, unexpected and deafening.
The audience suddenly went silent.
Chu Li wiped his face, and complained, “You guys spit on my face!”
“Lies!” Cui Da’s expression turned even sour as he shouted, “Don’t you dare simply accuse us! There’s such a huge distance between us, so how on earth could our spit reach your face!”
Chu Li calmly replied, “Well, just listen to how loud you’re speaking. Your saliva is bound to hurtle everywhere with that. Just look at Senior Sister Mo and Senior Sister Sun’s expression, they could tell that your saliva’s hurtling towards them!”
Mo Cuicui opened her mouth to speak, but she had a change of mind and closed it again.
Cui Da snorted, “Zhao, are you asking to be pummelled?”
Chu Li replied, “Since you guys spat on my face, it’s only natural to retaliate, right? Even if I kill you guys now, it’ll only be a waste of my martial arts, plus I won’t be chased out for doing so, right?”
“That’s slander!” Cui Er yelled out.
Chu Li continued, “If you two don’t scram right this instant, I’ll slaughter you!”
“I dare you—!” Cui Da thundered.
Chu Li shot a death stare at him.
“Boss, I think we should leave!” Cui Er accidentally met the ice-cold glare from Chu Li’s eyes, and he involuntarily broke out in cold sweat.
He could truly feel Chu Li’s murderous intent, and he felt his heart wilting from that pressure.
Chu Li had killed plenty of people before, and as such, his murderous intent could take on a physical form once he got serious. It was especially effective against those who were weak-willed.
“Hmph, I-I’ll let you off for today!” Cui Da snorted before turning around to leave.
Cui Er hurriedly followed behind.
Chu Li continued glaring at them, his gaze extending a long way ahead.
Song Donglin and the other two girls were eyeing Chu Li with a newfound fascination. His placement in the entrance exam was not for show; he was no ordinary person.
Chu Li glanced at Mo Cuicui. “You must be disappointed, right?”
“Why should I be disappointed?” Mo Cuicui hurriedly answered.
Chu Li shook his head. “Well, it’s such a despicable tactic, which totally reeks of Altar Leader Mo’s pettiness!”
