Chapter 381: This Monstrosity Is So Overpowered

The enormous monster in front of Baiyi, which he had decided to nickname ‘Gundam’, seemed a bit too tranquil. It stood quietly in the middle of the huge formation — a stark contrast to the whirlpool of energy that was formed when creating it. Terrifying energy undulations still emanated from the monster, but unlike before, it was contained.
A berserk enemy was troublesome to defeat, but a reserved and cunning creature was so much worse.
“Alright. First, let’s test how resistant you are to magic,” Baiyi muttered whilst hovering. The Book of Servitude appeared above his palm, and a forbidden fire spell, Magma’s Core, plummeted towards the monster, in greeting.
A huge ball of magma came crashing down from the sky, right onto the monster. The spell was devastating; on collision with its target, it would burst into fiery magma encased by roaring flames. The monster did not move, however. It did not even make an effort to ward off the attack hurtling towards it.
However, before the spell could hit the monster, it vanished.
Suddenly, Baiyi frowned. He hurriedly cast a mana shield in front of himself, and at that same moment, an inexplicable yet terrifying force struck him. The power of this mysterious force was on par with Magma’s Core — the forbidden fire spell he had cast only moments ago!
“How did Delta Ray Z 1 even hit me?” Baiyi muttered after using all his might to hold the mana shield up against the energy attack that had suddenly come at him. All of a sudden, he began to fall; his Levitation spell had been deactivated!
He could no longer contain the force, and thus, he was pushed downward at high speed, like an old burlap sack. As soon as he hit the ground, he rolled for a while and stopped in a heap. When he raised his head, he found himself looking up at Mia and Tisdale.
Fortunately, both girls had listened to him and forsook short skirts, or else things would have taken a very embarrassing turn.
“Mr. Hope!”
“Sir!”
The two girls exclaimed when they saw him. They thought he had sustained heavy damage because he was currently a sight for sore eyes.
“Cough, cough! Er, I’m fine, thanks. I’m not someone that can be finished in one hit,” Baiyi said with a chuckle, to lessen the stiff atmosphere caused by his embarrassing fall. He stood up and dusted himself, relieved to see his armor had only sustained a few small dents. Even with that, his Augustril armor was still in mint condition.
Peals of gleeful laughter rang out in the Void. Some Voidwalkers were delighted in seeing the Fifth Walker make a fool of himself. After all, it was not every day they got to witness that, especially when it happened in front of his two students.
“Shush! No laughing! Did you guys not notice that something was amiss?” Baiyi said after dusting himself. Mia and Tisdale, who both wore looks of worry, came forward to help him. Mia tried to use water magic on Baiyi, but no matter how many times she chanted the incantation, nothing happened.
“Has magic gone dark?” The Archmage suddenly stopped laughing and became worried.
“Not just magic... Even combat chi is gone!” Baiyi replied as he opened and closed his fist multiple times, but nothing happened; combat chi should have shot out from his hand already at that point. Baiyi just stood there, looking like he was cosplaying as ‘Tousen Kaname’ trying to snatch Jinkela Fertilizer. 2
“The power in me has not been lost. It’s still there, but I just can’t use it,” Baiyi said. He looked up just in time to see the Gundam-like monster charging at him. Suddenly, Baiyi’s expression changed, and he hollered, “It looks like the Laws regarding magic and combat chi have been Rewritten. That thing might be a real god! It could also be an avatar of a god, possessing the privilege to rewrite Laws. This may be that God of power that we talked about. Only the God of Power could Rewrite the Laws regarding power!”
Baiyi finally understood what Godsfall had been planning all along. They had sacrificed every tree in the Eternal Tree Ocean, turning its lush evergreen into a wasteland, all to create this large abominable body.
The massive formation complex that Baiyi had tried to destroy was a massive power generator used to power the descent of a real god. The Paladin Walker had remembered participating in a few rituals where angels descended to the real world. Those rituals also used up insane amounts of energy, both magical and holy. Hence, it only made sense that the summoning of a real god — or a being almost as powerful — would require a titanic cost.
It was at this point that Baiyi recalled that the Bard Walker had said that, in his ancient literature collection, the God of Power was characterized as a benevolent god. If that was the case, then the God of Power should dread being caught working with the likes of Godsfall cult. What then would have given Godsfall the gall to summon an avatar of the God of Power? Were they not worried about how the god would react when it found out? Was it possible that they had found a way to control the avatar?
If the latter was the case, then that would be most terrible. What would happen if the avatar of a god, who could Rewrite the Laws governing power, was under the cult’s complete control? No one would be able to fend the avatar off, as they would be unable to use mana or combat chi. The ability to Rewrite the Laws of power was enough to best all organizations and beings in the world!
Things could only get worse if the avatar had enough privilege to make minute changes to the Law of Power, enabling only Godfall’s cultists to use mana and combat chi. If anyone dared did battle with them, it would akin to ape-men fighting a military regiment equipped with assault rifles.
If Godsfall’s control over the avatar was that much, then no one would be able to stop the cult from conquering the entire world. After all, the power of a being that could Rewrite Laws was much more broken than Baiyi’s.
“This is not good. We have to get the little ones out of its way, now!” Baiyi shouted. He stretched out a finger and began to draw the formation for a teleportation spell in the air, but when nothing happened afterward, he remembered that he could no longer perform magic.
He watched Mr. Bear hurry over to him with large strides, then he asked it, “What about you? Can you still use your power?”
However, Mr. Bear did not reply. It waved its paws about wildly in an attempt to use sign language. Only low growls escaped its mouth.
‘Oh. So, the bear could only speak because of the mysterious Force of Nature, huh...’
“This is looking very bad now,” Baiyi said, watching the monster charge at him. Every step the beast took made the ground tremble — and made Baiyi’s heart to pound.
“Flee! Take everyone else with you! I’ll distract it!” Baiyi hollered. He tried to cast the secret Psuedo-descent spell on the hammerhead shark plushie, in order to send one of the Voidwalkers into it, but the plushie remained unmoving, just like a dead fish. It was obvious that the spell had also failed.
What else could they do at that point? In front of the charging monster, everyone there was as useful as a cute toy! Their only hope for survival was to escape. However, before Baiyi could flee the scene, a voice filled with scorn drifted into his ear from somewhere close by.
“Why are you leaving in the middle of the show? You’re all witnesses to the start of my great work, don’t you see?”
Suddenly, Baiyi froze; try as he might, he could not take another step. He had been struck by a Binding Spell. It was a simple spell — one he could have easily destroyed with a slight exhale — but he was now at its mercy. All he could do was watch a fairy slowly walk towards him in a condescending manner.
The fairy had donned a grand outfit, and he was handsome, as all male fairies were. His aura put him at the Master Level. It was a low rank, but, at the moment, the fairy was as impossible to scale as a mountain.
This fairy was none other than the Wise Mad King himself. As the mastermind behind recent events, the Wise Mad King would, of course, not miss the opportunity to gloat. At the moment, he could use magic, but Hope, who had foiled so many of the cult’s plans, was unable to. Hence, to the Wise Mad King, this was the perfect opportunity for him to unwind.
“Oh, hohoho! Oh, Hope; I had no idea that even someone as ridiculously powerful as you would one day be apprehended in such a manner!” The Wise Mad King chuckled. “I’ve always imagined how our face-to-face meeting would be, you see. I also had to imagine how I would try to protect myself and fail. However, seeing you like this is beyond my wildest imagination!”
“This time, do not waste your time wishing that your War God would come to save you. In front of the God of Power’s privileges, even theurgical magic will not work. As you can now see, the moment our plan succeeded, we had won.”
“Now, I’ll let you die in the most exhilarating way possible. Before that, however, I’ll kill your cute little students, one by one. A sinner like you should consider this mercy,” the Wise Mad King finished. He walked past Baiyi and stretched his hands towards the students standing closest to Baiyi: Mia and Tisdale.
Since Baiyi could not move an inch, he could not stop the Wise Mad King. Screams of pain rang out from behind him; the girls were being tortured.
This was all playing in the Wise Mad King’s head, though. He had only taken a step towards Mia and Tisdale when Baiyi calmly said, “You can still use magic. Let me guess... You have complete control over that monster there, right?”
“Haha! That’s not a bad guess. As long as we remain within its Holy Ground, we are invincible! Undefeatable!” The Wise Mad King answered, feeling victorious.
“Invincible? You sure about that?” Baiyi smirked. “Because from where I’m standing, there are a sh*t ton of flaws in your logic. For example, as a Soul Armature, in theory, my presence is enabled only by magic, right? So, why am I still here now?”
