Chapter 219

Chapter 219 An Alliance The moment Aiken stepped into the building, he encountered Nigel head on.

Nigel had a pile of documents in his hands and he looked worn out. Aiken took off his sunglasses and marched toward him, blocking Nigel's pathway.

Nigel raised his head and looked at Aiken, “How can | help you, Mr. Cantrell?”

“How did you know | had something to ask of you?”

“You wouldn't be blocking my way otherwise.”

Aiken grinned at Nigel, “You're right, | wouldn’t. You look exhausted. Didn’t sleep well last night?”

“Is this why you're blocking my path? If you have nothing more to say, I'll take my leave. If you have any court cases you would like us to take up, feel free to look for me at our law firm.” Nigel sidestepped Aiken to leave.

However, Aiken continued to block Nigel’s path as he said, “If it's about Maia, would you be interested?” Nigel met Aiken’s eyes as he asked, “Where should we talk about this?”

“There’s a cafe nearby, how about that?”

“Sure,” Nigel replied, and they made their way out.

On their way to the cafe, Aiken was curious and asked, “What brings you to the company today?”

“I'm sure you've heard of the scandal involving those artists. I’m in charge of the defamation. case. | need to make sure that they'll learn their lesson permanently.”

Aiken nodded his head and looked at Nigel with admiration, “Well done, Nigel! You're right, we should teach them a lesson. When | got the news right after coming back from my movie shoot, | was furious. The three of them looked so ugly it scared me, they were no match for my

looks!” “Mr. Cantrell is one of the most confident actors I've ever met,” Nigel added.

“Not at all. You’re too kind with your praises. I’ve heard that you’ve known Maia for a long time. Does that mean you know what her favorite food is?”

“She likes pies,” Nigel answered immediately.

Aiken nodded and continued asking, “What kind of flowers does she like? Does she have any hobbies? What are the things that she’s good at?”

Without giving them much thought, Nigel answered all the questions Aiken threw at him. Minutes later, he finally realized the use of Aiken’s questions. “Do you

like Maia?”

“Of course. The moment | saw Maia, | fell deeply in love with her. She’s the girl of my and | vowed to protect and cherish her!” Aiken admitted openly.

“Sorry, I’m not interested in talking about the woman | like with another suitor. You should look for someone else to have coffee with.” Nigel turned to leave after witnessing Aiken’s over -the-top confession.

Aiken quickly stopped him as he added smugly. “Nigel, let me buy you coffee and talk about our alliance. | see you as an equal opponent. This is much better than having Cedric invite you for coffee, right? After all, he would probably just threaten you and warn you not to get close to Maia.”

Nigel stopped in his tracks as he acknowledged what Aiken had said. Next, he signaled for Aiken to follow him as they entered the cafe nearby.

The cafe was fairly quiet as it was still working hours for the offices around it. After they ordered their drinks, they found a quiet spot in a corner and sat down.

“What did you mean by an alliance?” Nigel asked.

Since we’re not a match for Cedric, we should form an alliance and work together. I’m sure you know very well what kind of a person Cedric is right?” Aiken explained.

“Have you come up with a plan to get Cedric to leave Maia for good?” Nigel asked desperately.

“I'm just your average movie star. Devising ingenious plans are not my forte.” Aiken took a sip of his coffee.

Nigel was flabbergasted at Aiken’s behavior, “Then, why are you proposing an alliance when you don’t even have a plan?”

“| learned about alliances recently from the movie that | was shooting. | thought I’d put it into good use.” Aiken grinned cheerfully. Nigel could only calm himself as he struggled to form words, “So, this means that you want to form an alliance with me and at the same time, get me to come up with a plan?”

“That’s right! You're a professional lawyer and from the looks of your giant head, you're definitely smarter than | am. | trust that you'd be able to come up with a genius plan!”

Nigel looked at Aiken like he had just grown two heads. It was difficult to associate the person sitting in front of him with the dashing persona on screen.

“It would be impossible to get Cedric to leave Maia. The only thing we can do is to make Maia reject and hurt him enough to completely crush all his hopes. Then, Cedric would finally be willing to let go of Maia and allow her to find her own happiness,” Nigel concluded.

“Maia will need to be the one to do this. We could only help by creating misunderstandings. | know this is such an underhanded method but it’s for the sake of Mala. We don’t know if Cedric would hurt her again after winning her affection. The best way to avoid all complications is to keep Maia away from Cedric.”

Aiken nodded again.

“However, this would not be an easy task as Maia has lost her memories. She is very reliant on him now. This gives Cedric a higher chance of winning her back.”

Again, Aiken nodded.

Nigel was getting impatient as he asked in annoyance, “Could you at least say something constructive?”
