Chapter 261 I'll Leave If You Want

Buck was a burly guy who towered over everyone. He continued to grin cheerfully as he half dragged Nigel aside to maintain some distance between him and Cedric.

“You have a smart PA,” Cedric commented coldly. If it were not for Buck separating them, Cedric would have given Nigel a black eye.

“Of course, we have to be smart in the light of someone as powerful as you,” Maia replied. “You don’t have to be wary of me.” Cedric would always welcome all her tantrums.

“We're even now, so there’s no need for us to see each other anymore.”

“I've told you, we're not.”

“What do you mean? I’ve instructed Baz to look for a doctor for you and took you in for the night. Whether or not you were there, I'd have eventually been saved by my building’s management and rescue team.

“If you're referring to the information that Victor had, when I’ve settled the issue with Mykonos Studios. I'll hand them over to you along with part of the company’s shares. I'll make sure to give you what you rightfully deserve,” Maia added clearly.

“| was sick yesterday and could be considered a patient. In my opinion, your services were lacking.” “Excuse me?” Maia asked in confusion.

“As a caretaker, you’re supposed to look after the patient. Not lie asleep in his arms. Furthermore, you had quite terrible sleeping posture and even tried to remove your blanket several times. So, tell me, how could we be even?” Cedric teased as he looked at her with loving eyes.

Maia’s face was as red as a tomato. She had some guesses on how bad her sleeping posture was, but she did not realize what had happened until Cedric told her this. It was no wonder that she had woken up in bed this morning.

Unfortunately, Maia could not recall any detail about what had happened last night after she fell asleep. “Cedric, you're shameless!” Maia gritted her teeth at him.

“You were the one who kept caressing my abs.” Cedric smirked as he added. Maia only grew more frustrated as she yelled, “Get out! You're not welcome here!”

“Hear that? Maia doesn’t want you here! Get out!” Nigel immediately came over to help as he noticed that Maia’s face was red. He assumed that this was due to her anger.

Cedric glanced briefly at Nigel and chose to ignore him entirely. He smiled innocently at Maia. 1/3 +15 BONUS

Maia was stunned at how fast his expression could change. Now, he was faking innocence, making her look like a bully instead! Moments later, he walked toward the entrance, but stopped for a second to place his hand on his stomach.

“Honey, do remember to have breakfast.” He reminded her before stepping out of the door and toward the elevators.

Maia had noticed his action of touching his stomach. She remembered the favor that Franklin had asked of her, so she added coldly, “Don’t forget to take your medicine!” before slamming the door in his face to avoid his penetrating gaze.

Maia could finally heave a sigh of relief the moment the door was shut tightly. Buck smiled at her reaction.

Nigel, on the other hand, thought that the blush on Maia’s face was caused by the anger about what had just transpired. He quickly comforted her gently, “Don’t be mad at someone like him. We really need to think of a plan.

“We can’t let him continue to bother you just because he is rich and powerful. I’m worried that he might try to take advantage of you again.”

As she calmed herself down, she raised her head to look at Nigel. Maia also noticed that Buck was trying hard to hold in his laughter.

When Buck met Maia’s eyes, he instantly stood up straight.

She shook her head at Nigel, “It’s fine. He didn’t do anything to me. Yesterday was just an accident. If it weren’t for the fact that | couldn’t get Baz on the line, Cedric wouldn’t have stayed over.”

“Baz? His PA?” “Yeah.”

“You sure it wasn’t done intentionally? Baz had been with Cedric for a long time. I’m sure he could pretend that he was busy. He might've even intentionally created an opportunity for his boss to take advantage of you!” Nigel sneered.

“Cedric had chronic gastritis yesterday. He wouldn't have been able to even if he tried.”

“| wouldn't have let him go that easily if he really did. Regardless of how powerful he was, | would still put up a fight!”

“Nigel, you're being too dramatic! I'm not that naive. Besides, | did manage to get him to leave, didn’t |? He didn’t even dare to rebut what | had said.”

“| was slightly surprised too. He had always presented himself as a prideful and unforgiving person, so | was shocked that he had left without any fuss. Maybe he is planning something

“He’s not trying anything behind her back. He’s just trying to be a good husband to Ms. Maia! A good husband will always put his wife first!”

Minutes later, Nigel's cell phone rang. It was a call from his firm and he answered it right away, “Hello? Yeah. | got it. I'll be back soon.”

Nigel turned to Maia and explained, “Something just came up at the office, | need to head back at once. If you need me, don’t hesitate to give me a call.”

“Okay, drive safe.” Nigel nodded his head and bid Buck farewell before leaving quickly. After he left, Buck smiled brightly as he glanced at Maia.
