Wisp! Awaken in the Magical World

Chapter 60: Follow Me

Chapter 60: Follow Me

Alvin took a deep breath and asked. "What are your plans?"

"Master?" Felia looked at Alvin, surprised. Shouldn't he have refused the idea straight away? After all, he hates danger.

Linfel faintly smiled and nodded. "So you don't like the idea of the other students putting their lives at risk while you hide here, uh?"

Alvin scratched the back of his head. Linfel easily saw through him. "Connor is my brother, so that's what bothers me the most. I just feel like... I can't look eye to eye at him once everything is over. The same goes for the other Maguses and Familiars of our academy that were sent out."

"Master... you truly changed." Felia was happy to hear that, although she was also concerned.

Linfel then landed on Alvin's shoulder with his core and spoke. "Just hold on to that feeling; you will need it. Anyway, we won't stay in the academy for long. One week! We will leave for the one in one week."

"One week?" Felia and Alvin looked at each other, confused. "Why one week?"

Linfel laughed but didn't answer. After that, they started their daily training.

---

A day later, Alvin was in his room with Felia and Linfel when he received a message. He quickly ran outside and headed to the academy's entrance. There, an old man looked at the academy with deep thoughts. The old man had only come to this place once, and he was not allowed past the entrance, just like now.

"Father!" Alvin called out inside the academy.

The old man was obviously Lucau, Alvin's father. "Oh! You are finally here."

Alvin smiled and pulled his father's hand. "We can talk more inside, come."

"Inside?" Lucau was puzzled. "But I can't enter."

"You can now," Alvin showed his MCOM. There, there was an ID on the academy website with Lucau's information, including his special status.

"I see..." Lucau nodded and followed Alvin inside. They went to the cafeteria, which was obviously pretty much empty. Nonetheless, the equipment and the workers who weren't soldiers or maguses were still operating.

Once there, Alvin asked for some food and they began to talk as they ate. "Father, I asked the academy to allow you to stay here during the duration of the war."

"So it was really true, uh?" Lucau sighed. "I've heard in the news that our neighbors are attacking Haffel together. I was immediately evacuated from the South Sea on the same day and sent further into the country."

"Yes," Alvin confirmed. "We were in the middle of a field exam when the attack started. We were stranded deep inside the forest and almost died on our way back."

Alvin then proceeded to speak about the whole event until he finally arrived at the academy. "And now we are here..."

Lucau narrowed his eyes in doubt. "That doesn't make sense. If all the Level One Maguses and Familiars and above were sent to the war, why did you return? You are not like those pompous young masters who had the background to escape the drafting..."

Alvin looked at Linfel, who nodded and spoke while using his Magic Energy so that only Lucau would hear. For the next hour, he spoke about the Double Master Familiar Connection and how the Academy Principal considered it too important. 'In the end, he passed an order that we are to stay in the academy until everything is over.

Well, we can't tell if the Heffal Country will survive this attack, though. If not, then Xalafel's protection won't be of much use.'

Lucau was obviously surprised to hear all of that. He knew Linfel was a wisp, but he didn't expect Linfel's abilities to have such a repercussion. "You truly are different..." Lucau whispered.

Later that day, Lucau was brought to Alvin's room, where they could talk more. "So, Alvin, all we need to do is wait here, right?"

"For you, that's correct," Alvin nodded. "As for me, I'm leaving in six days."

"But didn't you say you were supposed to stay?" Lucau wondered.

"I can't wait, father," Alvin shook his head, though. "Connor and my classmates are all out there. How can I look at them when they come back? No! I must help as well."

Lucau went silent for a moment before he looked at Alvin's face. "You changed quite a bit since Linfel appeared. The Alvin I know would never take such risk."

"Aren't you angry? I thought you would immediately prohibit me from trying such a thing. I was even expecting you to go out and warn the academy about my plans." Alvin asked back, finding his father's calm countenance unexpected.

Lucau obviously didn't have such plans. "My son is telling me he can't abandon his friends. Why would I feel angry? Why would I try to stop you? Were I in your shoes, I would have gone as well. However, I do feel worried.

Do you have a plan to survive?"

"Leave it to me," Linfel spoke. "I've been in such situations before, so I know how to act. I won't be an idiot and say that I can absolutely guarantee his safety. However, his chances will definitely be better with me around. Besides, it is like I told Alvin, this is an opportunity. Danger is the best method for breakthroughs and improvement."

Lucau was still worried, but he could only accept that. "Very well. All I ask you is to make sure you consider your life the main priority. Linfel, you always wanted to pay me for saving you, right? This is how you will pay me, bringing Alvin back alive."

Linfel was happy to comply. "I will do my best."

"Thank you, Father." Alvin also felt happy his father understood.

"Alright," Lucau got up and headed to the door. "I was given the room next to yours to stay during this time, so you can look for me there. I will only get in the way if I continue here. Make sure to tell me when you decide to leave. Felia, I'm also counting on you to keep my son safe."

"I'll do that even if I have to lay down my life, old master," Felia patted her chest.

Lucau's expression warmed, and he nodded, leaving the room right after.

"Okay, we can't waste time. Let's continue!" Linfel quickly called the two, and they left the room. Since the entire academy was available for them, Linfel ensured he would use this advantage well.

---

Floating Blades Faction...

One week quickly passed. Linfel, Alvin, and Felia already prepared their plan to leave the academy and knew exactly where they were going. They would go west, the same west where Connor was. But before that, they passed by the Floating Blades Faction one last time.

"Do you need to do it?" Linfel asked, puzzled.

Alvin quickly nodded. "They helped us a lot, so I must at least leave some information, don't you think? Well, people like Milia, Rin, Pamil, and others are most likely confined inside their homes by their families, just like all the other rich guys. I tried to get in contact with them through the MCOMs, but they are all offline."

Inside the faction, the attendant was still there. After all, the guy wasn't a magus and received his payment from the members of the Floating Blades Faction. He had to keep the equipment in order, and the academy was indeed one of the safest places to be, so why wouldn't he?

"Oh! Master Alvin, you are still in the academy?" Droval was surprised to see them there.

Alvin nodded. "Due to some circumstances, I was requested to stay behind."

Droval didn't find it weird. "It is fine. None of our members were sent to the war anyway. All their families recalled them back, and they will most likely stay away for a while."

'Hum?' As Alvin and Droval spoke, Linfel noticed something with his Magic Sense.

Alvin didn't continue for long. "Alright, Droval. I only came here to leave a letter in the Faction Leader's room. I won't be long." To make sure no one would see, a letter was still the best choice. Besides, he couldn't contact Pamil through the MCOM anyway.

"No problem," Droval didn't mind. "I still have a few things to do, so I'll take my leave. I'm still being paid, after all. Call me through my MCOM if you need anything. "

Alvin just smiled and went into the Floating Blades Faction. He only took a minute to reach the room and enter it. The letter was left on the table before they left and made their way out of the Faction... or so Alvin intended to. However, Linfel pulled him over with Felia while speaking into their minds. 'You two, follow me.

Stay quiet.'

Alvin and Felia were taken aback for a moment. Nonetheless, they nodded and followed Linfel.

Alvin and Felia soon noticed they headed into a part of the building they had never been to before. 'What are you looking for, Linfel?'

They arrived in front of an inconspicuous door at the back of the building. Finally, Linfel opened it, immediately startling the people inside. "Who's there?!"

How could Alvin's group not recognize that voice? It was none other than Pamil, the Faction Leader. "SENIOR PAMIL!" Alvin exclaimed, not expecting to see the guy at all.

"It's not only him," Linfel spoke. At the back of the room, Milia, Natalie, and William were also looking at them, surprised.

Pamil gritted his teeth and quickly pulled Linfel's group inside before closing the door. "Fuck! Why don't you speak louder? Then you can call the entire academy over!"

"What is happening here?" Sure enough, that was the real question there.
