Chapter 90: I Can Only Try
Chapter 90: I Can Only Try
Late that night, Nori and Milia were in their own room as the others rested. "Milia, what do you think about Linfel's story?"
Milia pondered a bit. "It is hard to believe. And yet, you saw it yourself. He connected to both of us without any issues. He even pretended to be me and used my own Magic Energy Signature in my MCOM to unblock it. I've never heard about any familiar capable of doing such things.
If there was, the countries of the world would have devised countermeasures."
Nori nodded. "So it is basically as me. Whether he is really this wisp or whatever, I don't know. But... do you think we can use it for your benefit somehow? This information might be worth a lot, enough to even buy you a way out of the Frondor Family's claw."
Milia narrowed her eyes. "Are you telling me to speak about it to Clondure?"
Nori didn't deny that. "It is dangerous, but if played correctly, you could be truly free."
Milia shook her head, though. "No can do. He saved me with Alvin... twice! If my freedom means betraying my benefactor, then I might as well go back to the Frondor Family on my own."
Nori wasn't sad to hear that, though. "You sure never change..."

On another room, Linfel, Alvin, and Felia were togehter.
"So, these are all the Red Magic Stones I got from Lativia," Linfel spoke as he brought everything out of his Spatial Storage. "Use them to increase your level. As a Level Two magus and Familiar, you two should have quite a good future ahead."
Alvin narrowed his eyes. "I don't like it. Our deal was that you would help me level up."
"Help you level up in the academy," Linfel corrected him. "Soon, the academy will be no more. Besides, I have already helped a lot to bring both of you to Level Two in such a short time. You can't rely on me forever. You need to stand on your two feet."
"Is there no way to convince you to stay?" Felia asked back.
"There isn't," Linfel had made up his mind already, though. "Such a life in a single place just isn't for me. But you have my MCOM contact. If you ever need help, you can just call me. I'll try to come over. Now, let's continue our training today.
You better use the days we stay together to the best you can."
Alvin and Felia sighed but nodded in the end. Just like that, Linfel began to absorb and clean the Magic Stones while sharing the energy with the two. Finally, Alvin and Linfel reached their limit for the day and went to sleep.

Things played just as Linfe mentioned. Heffal ended up being conquered fairly easily, while the alliance of nine countries killed or captured pretty much all Maguses, Familiars, and normal soldiers. From there, they shifted their attention to Binnan and the other two, starting a new war that Binnan's group had little chance of winning.
At the same time, Heffal's president announced the country's surrender. The alliance of nine countries promised the news media that they would not touch the civilians. They would be accepted as new citizens of the nine countries and work to hel share the resources of Heffal. In the end, it was all about that, the lack of resources.
By now, Linfel and Alvin had already concluded their registration in Clondure as refugies. They weren't the only ones. Quite a few Maguses and Familiars from Haffal, Binnan, etc, kept fleeing those countries and asking for asylum. Those countries who received them happily accepted every single one as they would boost their own countries' power.
They didn't need to worry about Heffal's group either since they wouldn't be around for long.
---
Country of Ternubes, several countries of distance to the north of Clondure. It had been over a month since the events in Heffal. Binnan had now fallen, and Tinfal was close to following the same path, while Goruto made a shocking agreement with the alliance of nine countries, saving its own ass.
Today, a Familiar came out of an Airship in Ternubes and looked around with excitement. He quickly went through the procedures of entering a new country and gave his Magic Energy Signature.
-Linfel-
-Level Two Familiar-
-Country of Origin: Clondure-
-Master: Independent Familiar-
A completely new Magic Energy Signature was used in Clondure when Alvin registered him. Even though he was using the same name, no one would find Linfel since he had a different ID. Even his ethereal humanoid form was different now.
Linfel then floated out of the door and looked at the gigantic tower that extended to the skies. "Turnubes Space Elevator..."
"I say, aren't you a little too hasty?" It was then that a voice echoed on his side.
Linfel looked at the guy and shrugged. "I don't even know why you are here. Your best prospect for reproduction was right there in Clondure. And yet, you still decided to follow me. Since you are here, I don't want to hear complaints, Alvin."
Alvin laughed in response. "Hahaha! Come on, I couldn't lose such a chance to see the world, you know? Besides, I improved the most while following you, so I decided to continue to do so." Sure, he liked Milia. However, there wasn't a single hint of regret on his face.
Back in Clondure, Alvin went to talk to his father about his decision just a day before he went with Linfel to make a new registration. Surprisingly, Lucau seemed to have seen it coming. Lucau simply said that the good thing about being young is the adventures you can have and gave his support right there and then.
He even commented that he and Alvin's mother had done quite a few crazy things before they settled down in that fishing city.
Alvin didn't tell Milia about his decision since he didn't want to bother the woman who had more serious things to deal with.
As for Felia, Alvin requested his Familiar to stay with Lucau and protect him. Felia definitely didn't want to leave Alvin behind. Unfortunately for her, she couldn't just abandon Lucau either. Not to mention, she wasn't an independent Familiar, so she had to follow Alvin's orders.
Finally, Alvin and Linfel hopped in an airship, even though Linfel warned Alvin he had no intention to come back anytime soon. Now... Linfel was looking to leave the planet.
"So... tell me more about what is it that you are looking for, Linfel," Alvin asked as they walked through the city and looked at the Space Elevator.
Linfel nodded. "If this is indeed the same Universe as the one I was, then there is a planet I want to visit. I don't know if I will manage to find it, but I can only try, right?"
