Chapter 55 Alister's Scheme Against Lynn Before
Hearing Alice's question about how she had met Alister, Lynn started retelling it to Alice.
However, when Lynn mentioned how she had become a zombie and how Alister had saved her, Alice found something unusual. "Wait, from what you have said, doesn't my brother already have powers at that time?"
"How can he act surprised at that time and let that zombie bite you? He could have prevented that since he has enough power to do so yet he acted as if he couldn't."
"I could understand if he wasn't present at that time and only managed to arrive when you were bitten by that zombie. However, he was already with you when you were sneak-attacked by that zombie. From that angle of attack, you might not be able to see the zombie, but he could."
"And at that time, you were wrestled by that zombie for like several seconds before you were bitten. That time frame is enough for my brother to use his air manipulation superpower to at least get that zombie off you."
"I don't want to sow discord between your relationship with my brother. But don't you find it strange that he seemed to have taken advantage of that situation to make you his zombie girlfriend?"
Hearing Alice's skepticism regarding how Lynn had met Alister, Lynn wasn't surprised since she had expected Alice's reply. After all, Alice was Alister's sibling so it was impossible for her to not have at least half of Alister's intelligence.
Lynn shrugged, "This is the reality, Alice. Not a fantasy."
"You can't expect that your future lover would use wholesome tactics to make you fall in love with him. And it's not like I haven't encountered it before such as my classmates' attempts in drugging me and hooking me up with their friend but they have yet to succeed."
"I am also desperate to have someone who could love me and accept me for who I am and who I wanted to be since my parents didn't love me and always expected me to be their 'perfect' daughter. It was only at the time I became a zombie that I felt I was 'flawed' yet free from my parent's control."
"However, Alister still accepted my flawed self and due to that, I didn't find it disgusting that I became a flesh-eating zombie. It was my first decision ever that wasn't governed by my parents and I felt that it wasn't as bad as I had expected it to be."
"Alister might have wronged me at that time, but it was because of that we became closer together. If he hadn't done that to me, our relationship might not be as good as it is now."
After explaining it to Alice, Lynn added, "I wasn't ambitious enough to expect my lover to be perfect. Since even my perfection was also a kind of flaw. And it was only at that time I became flawed that I felt that I was perfect."
"Alister might not be perfect, but he still accepted my flawed self and loved me genuinely. I never regretted being with him."
"Alister might have already known that I have known about this and I know he knew about it. However, we decided to not talk about this since both of us have already accepted each other."
When Alice heard Lynn's explanation, she couldn't help but feel that her brother was lucky enough to have someone who loved him this deeply to the point that Lynn even forgave him for such a thing.
At least, Alice hasn't felt such love since what she only received in the Cloud Sect was only excruciating pain, fear, despair, and suffering.
It was also the reason why she was desperate to meet her family. She wanted to be loved.
However, life wasn't what she had expected it to be. Her mother had died and her brother had changed. She even doubted whether life and fate were toying with her.
But it seemed that not only her, but even Lynn also didn't have it easy.
Reminiscing about her past as well as hearing what Lynn had said to her, Alice sighed as she lay on the couch, "Life sucks."
Hearing Alice's words, Lynn agreed as she sat beside Alice. "Indeed. But only when we are alive, that we get to hope for a better future."

"It seems that Lynn and Alice are bonding better than I have expected them to be."
Alister commented as he sat on top of a roof, eavesdropping on what Lynn and Alice's conversation via the mind seed that he hadn't removed from Alice yet.
After all, Alice wasn't a zombie nor a human awakener yet so Alister wouldn't be assured of her safety without the mind seed that he planted in her. And he knew that Alice had also noticed the existence of the mind seed since he hadn't hidden its existence that deeply.
However, Alice didn't ask him to remove it so Alister deemed it as Alice agreeing with having the mind seed inside her.
As for their conversation regarding his scheme of wooing Lynn before, Alister didn't care much about it since as Lynn had said, he already knew that she had known about it.
Alister had already known that Lynn wasn't a naive and dumb girl so she must have already taken notice of it as early as the time he had schemed against her.
But it was also due to Lynn being a weak human before that she couldn't resist the zombie that had wrestled and bitten her. Even if Lynn had known about it, she was still powerless to resist it.
Not to mention, when he had saved Lynn from being raped by those five men before, Lynn had already agreed to pay him the price for saving her.
So Alister didn't care much about it as long as Lynn also didn't care about it. Their relationship was already more than good enough to ignore that.
Otherwise, if their relationship wasn't that good, Lynn wouldn't have offered to sacrifice herself for his sake.
With that in mind, Alister focused on the house whose roof he was sitting on instead. It was none other than his parent's house.
When Alister remembered how Alice seemed to have been traumatized by her experience in the Cloud Sect and Alice's deprivation of love which was all due to his father as well as his mother who didn't stop his father, Alister sighed.
"Well, you guys forced me to do this. Not like it matters anyway. After all, I already have too much blood on my hands. A bit more wouldn't change anything."
