Chapter 69 Becoming A Transcendent King!
Receiving Alister's opinion regarding the matter of the otherworld, the receptionist explained, "It's not that we haven't thought of that. But before we could verify those assumptions of ours, we can't even infiltrate the otherworld."
"We dare not let our Transcendent Saints invade the otherworld in fear of the otherworld possessing a powerhouse stronger than a Transcendent Saint."
"Sigh, humanity is losing in this battle. The otherworld had already explored almost every nook and cranny on Earth yet humanity hasn't even obtained any information about the world where those monsters and cyborgs came from."
"Maybe, the otherworld is a technologically advanced world and they are just toying with Earth to obtain more research data. But one thing is for certain, humanity's doom is impending"
Hearing the explanation from the receptionist, Alister didn't expect that the transcendent world was facing such a crisis.
'Phew! Fortunately, I have obtained the ownership of the zombie world so if ever this world was invaded by those monsters and cyborgs, I can just evacuate to the zombie world.'
'I can also let my parents go with me… Wait, my parents aren't in danger, right?'
'Well… They shouldn't be. I don't believe my parents are that unlucky to get caught up in the otherworld monster invasion.'
Worry crept up in Alister's heart but after assuring himself that his parents were just fine, he managed to keep his composure.
Of course, just in case, Alister decided to ask the receptionist, "The world is invaded by monsters and cyborgs currently, right? Can you tell me the cities that were attacked by those monsters?"
When the receptionist heard Alister's request, the receptionist nodded, "It's not confidential info anyways so I can tell you about it. But wait, let me check the information database first."
Afterward, the receptionist started typing on his keyboard, and after half a minute's worth of waiting, the receptionist replied, "The cities or states affected are Ohio, Washington, Los Angeles, Chicago, Seattle, Alabama..."
The receptionist kept on retelling the cities or states in America that were affected by the otherworld invasion but when the receptionist mentioned Alabama, Alister's eyes froze for a second.
'No way my parents in Alabama are affected, right? I mean, Alabama is quite big so no way they would be the unlucky ones to be attacked by those monsters. If I had known, I wouldn't have lived in Atlanta to pursue my studies.'
Alister got a bad premonition that something had happened to his parents but knowing how many residents there are in Alabama, Alister doesn't believe that his parents were that unlucky enough to encounter those monsters.
Regaining his composure, Alister exhaled and spoke, "Bell, can I ask you to check whether my parents are affected by otherworld invasion or not? Check if their name is on the list of casualties. I owe you a favor for this one."
In response, Bell shook his head, "No need to owe me a favor. I can help you out on this and I only ask you to fulfill your duties as a transcendent and help the people in need. I hope your parents are safe."
Afterward, Bell commanded the receptionist to access the list of casualties in Alabama's otherworld invasion.
But much to Bell's dismay, he solemnly asked, "Are your parents' names Juliette Wright and Christopher Wright?"
The feeling of bad premonition became stronger but Alister still attempted to regain his composure as he replied to Bell, "Yes, they are both my parents. Why? Did something happen to them?"
"I'm afraid they are already dead. At least, that's what was listed on the list of casualties. Their cause of death is being frozen to death by a misfire of a 9th-level Transcendent's ice manipulation superpower."
Hearing Bell's reply, Alister's heart sank. His body felt cold but it was slowly burning in anger!
"Fuck! Which bastard couldn't even fucking control their own power?"
But after remembering that it was irrational if he let his emotions cloud his judgment, Alister slowly regained his composure. However, a chilling gaze of extreme indifference permeated Alister's face.
The surrounding air seemed to be affected by Alister's outburst. The air in the surroundings became a lot heavier as if gravity was multiplied or as if the air had become solid.
When Bell and the receptionist saw Alister's change, they couldn't help but gulp in fear and amazement, "Is this… a domain?! Transcendent King?"
Alister had naturally heard of Bell and the receptionist's comment.
Sensing his current state, Alister noticed that the extreme negative emotions had riled up the zombie cell in his body, generating multitudes of viral energy. Such large amounts of viral energy were more than enough to allow him to evolve into a rank above SSS-rank!
If he was still in the zombie world, he would have more difficulties in breaking through the SSS-rank and reaching the rank above it. However, the transcendent world had a higher power level limit so as soon as sufficient viral energy was generated in his body, Alister didn't encounter any problems in his evolution.
Alister could instinctively feel that he was now at X-rank. In other words, he was a Transcendent King based on the transcendent world's power level.
Alister never expected that he would reach X-rank since he had thought that he could only reach it in his second world simulation. But the unexpected death of his parents had brought him such a benefit but instead of treating this as a joyous occasion, it was the exact opposite for Alister.
'Sigh, I'd rather that my parents didn't die. So what if I reach X-rank or Transcendent King? It's not like I couldn't reach it in the second world simulation.'
After Alister got used to controlling his improved power, he retracted his air domain and coldly gazed at Bell and the receptionist.
"I apologize for my outburst. I won't forget this favor if you tell me which ant at 9th-level dared to harm my parents!"
Although Alister apologized, Bell and the receptionist felt that Alister's cold and indifferent tone said otherwise.
It was like Alister had threatened them!
They wouldn't doubt that if they lied to Alister or didn't tell Alister about it, they would be goners!
