Chapter 1057 - Happy Birthday, President Lu...

The families couldn’t say a word as they could only see Lu Lijun and Liwei going away, holding hands. The two joined the other couple dancing there and caught everyone’s attention.

Seeing Lu Lijun and Liwei together like this turned out to be an exciting topic for others as, one by one, everything Lu Lijun did, hinted towards his interest in Liwei. Pictures were being clicked, which didn’t affect Lu Lijun.

While dancing, Lu Lijun held her closer as he put one hand on her back while his other hand held her hand. She put her free hand closer to his shoulder.

They moved in sync as the two looked at each other. Soon Lu Lijun’s sight moved somewhere else, and Liwei found herself smiling slightly as her cheeks blushed.

Unknown to Lu Lijun, his such actions had started to affect the carefree Liwei as she felt her heart fluttering whenever they were close.

When Liwei was busy dealing with her flushed condition, trying to keep calm, Lu Lijun’s sight unknowingly followed Jiang Yuyan, who sat quietly enjoying the wine in her glass.

She looked aloof to what was happening around her and lost in her world as she stared at the glass in her hand, swirling it once in a while.

Lu Lijun wished her to stop him if he did something that she didn’t want, but she cared less and lost in her world.

Just then few men came to talk to Jiang Yuyan, and Lu Lijun frowned inside. In a wave of anger, he clutched Liwei’s hand that he held.

"Ahh..." Liwei whined.

It drew Lu Lijun’s attention, and he looked at Liwei, "Are you okay?"

"My hand," Liwei looked at it, and Lu Lijun realized what he did.

Lu Lijun loosened his grip and caressed her hand while still holding and moving along the music,

"I’m sorry," Lu Lijun apologized.

Though he didn’t look apologetic, the way he caressed her palm and fingers, Liwei felt the cold shiver ran across her spine and found her breath stuck inside.

"Is it fine now?" he asked.

Liwei nodded lightly and avoided looking at him, not willing to let him notice her flushed face.

Collecting herself, she asked, "Are you thinking about something?"

"Nothing special," he replied.

"Though you are here, your mind is somewhere else," she commented, "Is it about the work?"

"Something like that," he replied.

Seeing him not willing to talk about it, she changed the topic, "I didn’t know you could dance too."

"Doesn’t look that difficult," he countered.

Liwei smiled, "It’s just that I didn’t expect it from you."

Lu Lijun looked at her questioningly, and she asked, "You never had a girlfriend, right?"

"Hmm," he agreed.

"Never danced with any girl too?" she added.

"Hmm." he agreed again.

"See, that’s why I was surprised," said Liwei.

"I don’t find these things relatable," Lu Lijun denied her theory and asked, "Have you dated?

"No," she replied.

"Then how come you can dance," Lu Lijun got back at her.

Liwei understood what he meant and smiled, "But I have friends, the boys. But doesn’t seem like you have friends, the girls, and I’m sure you wouldn’t dance like this with your two best friends." She referred Jake and Noah.

Lu Lijun had nothing to say as what she said was right. She always managed to shut him and smiled too. He liked it about her that how she made him comfortable.

"Okay, on a serious note. Though you never dated, isn’t there a single person that you had a crush on or feel something for?"

Just then, the music stopped, and Lu Lijun guided her way to go back to their parents before another piece of music would start.

"You didn’t answer," she asked on the way.

"Would you like to be that one person?" he asked, and she was taken aback.

Lu Lijun continued walking, and she followed him quietly, not asking any more questions. He never answered anything but always replied something would leave the other person shocked.

After a few more events, the wedding was over, and the guests started to leave.

Though Liwei came with Lu Lijun, her father wished for her to return with them, and she obeyed. Liwei sat in her brother’s car after saying bye to the Lu family.

--------

On the way back to the Wen residence, Wen Zac asked, "Do you like him?"

Liwei looked at her brother.

Before she could deny it, Wen Zac spoke again, "Think carefully and answer."

This time Liwei was silent, unlike before when she straightaway denied the possibility.

"Well, he is good," she replied hesitantly, not being able to find exact words for what she felt.

Wen Zac smiled and patted her head, "Take your time," and didn’t ask further as he could see through his sister.

-------

The Lu family reached the Lu Mansion. Saying good night to Lu Jinhai and Ning Jiahui, Jiang Yuyan went to the second floor, and Lu Lijun followed her. She walked as if she was alone, and Lu Lijun’s presence didn’t matter.

Lu Lijun continued walking, keeping the distance between her and him as his sight didn’t leave her even for a moment. Subconsciously he kept following her as if he wanted to reach her.

When they reached the second floor near their rooms, Jiang Yuyan stopped and turned to look at him.

It startled him because her room was a bit ahead, and it was his room.

He looked at her questioningly, and she spoke, "Learn to think carefully before you do something."

’The entire wedding was over, and all the time, she chose to ignore what he did but why suddenly?’ He thought and spoke, "I’ll be the one to face the consequences and not president Lu."

"You will see it soon. Wait for the morning," she spoke.

"I might like what I see in the morning," he countered.

"I assume so," she spoke and was about to leave.

"President Lu," he called.

She waited for him to talk.

He looked at his wristwatch and spoke, "Still five minutes left," and looked at her, "Happy birthday, President Lu."

"Good night," she said and went to her room.

He didn’t wish her the entire day, and she didn’t care if he wished her or not.
