Chapter 151 - Gu Chu Woke Up
Chapter 151: Gu Chu Woke Up
When Gu Chu woke up, it was already two days later.
There was an oxygen tube inserted into her nose, and she slowly opened her eyes. She felt that her eyes were very dry, so she subconsciously rubbed them.
However, when she was reaching out, her arm was grabbed by someone.
“It’s the smoke particles in the fire that make your eyes uncomfortable. You’ll be fine in two days. Don’t rub them.”
Gu Chu tilted her head and saw Feng Jia sitting beside her bed.
She suddenly remembered what had happened before she fainted and her eyes suddenly turned red. “Feng Jia...”
Feng Jia said softly and gently, “It’s alright. You’re in the hospital now. You’re safe. I’m here.”
Gu Chu moved her lips. “What about Zhou Xuan? Is she alright?”
Feng Jia replied, “She’s fine. She’s in another ward.”
That was good. She was the one she was worried about.
She gulped. “Where are the others?”
“The fire didn’t spread. When the people upstairs heard the alarm, they all ran to a safe place. Only that shop was affected.”
Gu Chu was relieved.
She wanted to sit up, but Feng Jia held her shoulder and raised the bed.
Gu Chu said in a low voice, “I’m afraid that I’ve harmed others by setting the place on fire.”
“You didn’t do anything wrong. Otherwise, you and your secretary would have been killed by Li Xiu,” Feng Jia comforted her.
Gu Chu was stunned. She gritted his teeth. “How could they?”
There were two lives!
The coldness in Feng Jia’s eyes flickered. Not only that, they had even thought of how to clean up the scene.
First, they would pack the bodies in plastic bags and brought them home to hide them. Then, they would drag them outside to bury them on a dark night.
“Just because we were asking for the reason they opposed the construction, they wanted to kill us?” Gu Chu thought it was ridiculous. How could they simply commit murder? “Besides, do they really think that it’s been more than 20 years so no matter how hard the police investigate, they won’t be able to trace it back to them?”
What a joke.
Feng Jia’s eyes were cold. “If they really thought so much, they wouldn’t have killed someone.”
Gu Chu was so angry that her heart hurt. Because she had just woken up, she felt uncomfortable everywhere on her body. She closed her eyes and didn’t want to speak.
Feng Jia covered her eyelids slightly. “I will handle this. Don’t think too much about it. Just focus on recuperating.”
Gu Chu said in a muffled voice, “Don’t go.”
Feng Jia: “Okay.”
After he made his promise, Gu Chu finally fell asleep with peace of mind.
Feng Jia laid the bed flat and poured some water. He dabbed a moist cotton swab on Gu Chu’s dry lips.
After Gu Chu slept for a while, she woke up in the afternoon.
She was clearly in better spirits than in the morning.
She had been unconscious for the past two days and was relying on fluids to sustain her life. Feng Jia asked the doctor to let her eat normally today, so he ordered a meal and had it sent over.
Gu Chu leaned against the headboard, she was still unsatisfied. “Li Xiu definitely didn’t kill someone for the first time. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be so skilled. The girl who went missing twenty years ago was most likely caused by them. Her body must be buried near the site. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be so nervous about it.”
Gu Chu’s hands had burns and blisters. The doctor had bandaged them up, but she couldn’t move yet, so Feng Jia fed her water with a spoon.
He was about to say that Li Xiu had told him everything, and the girl’s body had been found when a clear male voice came from outside the door. “You just woke up. This isn’t something you should worry about. The police have already investigated everything.”
Gu Chu looked towards the source of the voice and saw Lin Yu at the door.
She was stunned. She didn’t expect him to rush over so quickly. “Lin Yu, why are you here?”
“You had such a big accident. How could I not come?” Lin Yu walked over with a thermos flask in his hand and nodded at Feng Jia. “CEO Feng.”
Feng Jia: “CEO Lin.”
Gu Chu pushed his hand away and turned towards Lin Yu, leaving him with the back of her head.
Gu Chu quickly asked, “Is there really a body? Is it really at site? Were we right?”
“Yes,” Lin Yu replied. “It’s in zone three.”
Gu Chu: “...”
This was the first time in her life that she realized she could solve crimes
“How do you feel now?” Lin Yu looked at her. “I came here once this morning. CEO Feng said that you woke up but fell asleep again.”
“Much better than this morning.” Gu Chu was still curious about Li Xiu’s case. “Who are Li Xiu’s two accomplices? Judging by their age, they look like her sons?”
