Chapter 1054 - Ill Not Remember You in My Next Lifetime

Chapter 1054 - Ill Not Remember You in My Next Lifetime

Chapter 1054: I’ll Not Remember You in My Next Lifetime

Tang Mo’er’s eyes reddened, everyone knew the truth. Even Chenyi, who was busy with the rivalry in Country A, had rushed back to accompany their mother in the last 48 hours of her life.

But Lu Jinwen was the only one kept in the dark.

He didn’t know anything at all.

He said that it was just a minor surgery.

He said that everything was going to be fine.

This man who was set to have such a smooth sailing life, setting up his first business empire at the 16 years old, reaching the pinnacle at such a young age, wielding so much power for decades settled down over the years. Now, he didn’t even know the love of his life was in the last moments of her life.

Everyone had decided to support Lin Xuanji’s final decision. Many people didn’t come, including Old Master Lu, Old Madam Lu, the entire Lu family, Lu Yan and An’an, Fu Qinglun, even Lin Shiyu hadn’t come.

Lin Xuanji just wanted to leave this world peacefully.

Tang Mo’er turned her head away with reddened eyes, not wanting to see that gentle look on her father’s face.

His gentleness was just like a blunt knife, slowly making its way through one’s heart, causing such unbearable pain.

It was excruciating.

...

One hour later.

The doors opened and the doctor took off his mask, looking at Lu Jinwen as he said, “Congratulations, Mr Lu. The heart transplant surgery was a success.”

It was all scripted.

The nurse pushed Lin Xuanji out of the operating theater. Lu Jinwen lowered his eyes to look at Lin Xuanji, who was on the hospital bed. One, two, three... he finally smiled.

Letting go of his tightly clenched fists, his palms were all sweaty. He was merely comforting Mo’er and Chenyi when he said those words just now. But in actual fact, he was even more worried than anyone else.

He could never be able to accept a bad outcome.

But thankfully, everything had turned out fine.

...

In the hospital ward.

After the anesthesia wore off, Lin Xuanji opened her eyes. Someone was holding onto both her hands tightly.

Standing beside her in the silent hospital ward, Lu Jinwen crouched down beside her bed. “You’re awake?”

His voice was inexplicably gentle.

Lin Xuanji nodded her head. “Mm.”

Lu Jinwen could finally unknit his brows, taking a deep breath before he planted a kiss on her hand.

“Where’s Mo’er and Chenyi?”

“They are outside.”

Lin Xuanji moved, turning her body around while one hand was still held by him. She stretched out her other hand, caressing his face. “I want to go home.”

They had everything prepared in the manor, with doctors on standby 24 hours, it was the same if they were to head home to recuperate.

Lu Jinwen nodded his head. “Okay, I’ll take you home.”

He lifted his eyes, looking at her. “Where do you want to go to have fun? I’ll take you to travel the world once you’re all recovered. Where would you like to visit first?”

With a soft smile, Lin Xuanji ran her fingers over his facial features. “I’ll let you decide.”

“Okay, let’s visit the Heavenly Mountains to watch the snow.”

Watch the snow.

Lin Xuanji buried her face in the pillow, feeling her tears flow down the corner of her eyes.

She could no longer hear all his plans clearly. There was something about watching the snow in winter, before visiting a tropical country to enjoy summer, spring would be nice and warm while fall was cooling, it would be really beautiful, really idyllic...

...

Lin Xuanji returned home and Lu Jinwen placed her on a wheelchair, pushing her onto the lawn to watch the sunset. While the sun set, the golden sun rays shone down all over the plains. It really was a beautiful scene.

Lu Jinwen bent over, placing a warm cup of tea in her hands. “What are you thinking about?”

As Lin Xuanji looked at the afterglow, she gave a radiant smile, as though she had returned to her younger days, back in those carefree moments.

“I’m thinking about... my next lifetime.”

Next lifetime?

Those two words were so wistful, yet sounded so caustic to Lu Jinwen, but he remained composed. “Xuanji, in your next lifetime... would you really choose to be with Jun Mosheng?”

Lin Xuanji looked in his eyes. “I’ve had enough hatred and love in me this lifetime, I don’t have any more regrets. But if there’s a next lifetime, I wouldn’t want to relive this life again. I would like to be one of the many girls on earth, waiting for that one person who would treat me wholeheartedly... Jinwen, I’ve already promised Mosheng, if there’s a next lifetime, I’ll belong to him.”

Lu Jinwen raised the corners of his lips. “Xuanji, you’re still mine in your next lifetime.”

He said those few words so determinedly, just like he was swearing an oath.

Lin Xuanji stretched her hand out, caressing his face. “Lu Jinwen, I’ll not remember you in my next lifetime.”

Lu Jinwen held her hand so tightly. “It’s fine if you don’t remember me, because I’ll make sure to remember you. In your next lifetime, remember to turn your head around, I’ll be sure to treat you so wholeheartedly.”

As he said those words so calmly, what he meant to say was that he knew this lifetime had been too tough. He knew that she wouldn’t want to relive this life again, but for the next lifetime, he would never let her relive this life again.

Their next lifetime, things would be different.

Lin Xuanji just laughed, not saying anything else.

“Sir.” Butler Ye walked over.

“I’ll go see what he needs. Don’t go away,” Lu Jinwen instructed her as he entered the house with Butler Ye.

Seeing Lu Jinwen disappear before her eyes, Lin Xuanji felt something dripping down. It was blood coming out of her nose.

“Mom!” Tang Mo’er ran over, hugging Lin Xuanji as she buried her face in mom’s warm embrace. After holding her emotions down all this time, she burst into tears.

...

In the study room.

Butler Ye handed over a file containing some documents inside. “Sir, we’ve found Monk Xuanyi.”

Lu Jinwen furrowed his brows. “Where is he?”

“Country Z.”

“Prepare the private jet now, I’ll set off immediately.”

He was going to catch this Monk Xuanyi alive.

Butler Ye was stunned. “Sir, are you going to set off immediately? Why don’t you wait till Madam feels better?”

“I’m setting off right away, go and prepare now.”

“Yes, Sir.”

Seeing that the man was determined to leave, Butler Ye could only obey his orders.

Lu Jinwen lowered his eyes to look through the documents and his brows drew together as he did. He wasn’t convinced at all, there wasn’t going to be a next lifetime, at least not for him.

He had never been convinced by such unfounded things. He naturally didn’t believe in whatever promise between Xuanji and Jun Mosheng about them meeting in their next lifetimes.

He was going to catch this Monk Xuanyi and bring him back!

...

Butler Ye arranged for the private jet and Lu Jinwen wore a black suit underneath his black overcoat, exuding a dignified aura. He went back outside to the lawn, wanting to inform Lin Xuanji about his plans.

But there wasn’t anyone on the lawn.

The sun had set and the skies were dark, cold wind blowing around. It was abnormally chilly. It seemed like it was going to rain soon.

Where did she go?

“Did anyone see Madam?” Lu Jinwen asked the maids.

“Sir, none of us has seen Madam.”

Where did she go?

Lu Jinwen scanned around the place with sharp eyes, but he still couldn’t find her. He didn’t know why, but he panicked for no reason at all. He had this ominous feeling in his heart, almost consuming him slowly.

It felt as though something important in his life was slowly slipping away.
