The screens were switched over to the scene over at New York City in the USA. The doors to the New York City Hall were opened, an imposing figure appearing in its midst.
Gu Mohan was clad in a custom-made white shirt with a midnight blue business vest and blazer. A luxurious watch adorned his wrist and every detail was made perfect.
The rays of the sun shone down on his flawless face, making him look even more charismatic. His appearance alone caused pandemonium in the crowds around him.
Many reporters charged forward. “President Gu, can we conduct an interview?”
Yan Dong could only politely refuse their requests and the bodyguards dressed in black made way for Gu Mohan to pass through. He got on the luxurious business car without looking back.
The luxurious car sped away and as the window rolled down, the cameras panned on him and Tang Mo’er’s gaze was fixated on his side profile. It has already been one month since they had last seen each other. His facial features were still defined, his jawline sharp and lips were pursed, exuding a cold aura that placed him beyond the reach of mere mortals.
He eventually disappeared before the cameras.
Tang Mo’er’s gaze was still fixated on the screen though he was long gone, tears welling up in her eyes. She missed her Mr Gu.
Her Mr Gu seemed to be more charismatic than ever, but at the same time, he seemed beyond her reach. She could feel his untouchable, dignified aura even through the screen.
He was her Mr Gu, but at the same time she felt that he wasn’t.
The emcee was still reporting at the scene in excitement- —”The Capital’s leading wealthy businessman has created his business empire, Hilton Group, from today. After his separation from the Gu family, it’s hard to believe that it’s only been a few months, and his net worth has compounded instead of diminished as initially expected. Gu Mohan has gained a strong foothold and his comeback has caused a disruption in the Capital’s socialite circle. It’s unsurprising that many of them have got their eyes on him. However, to their disappointment, Gu Mohan is going to hold his engagement ceremony tonight in the Capital. His fiancée will be treasured daughter of the Jun family, Jun Xiyan.”
Gu Mohan was getting engaged.
His fiancée was Jun Xiyan.
Jun Xiyan?
The news left Tang Mo’er feeling lost. Jun Xiyan, Jun Xiyan... she tried to recall the name in her mind.
She had met Jun Xiyan once, she wasn’t on the same level as Lu Qi’er. She was highly educated and from a respectable family, currently holding the position as an interpreter in the United Nations. She had a feminine body, complemented with good looks and great intellectual ability.
Gu Mohan’s choice was irrefutable, she was well deserving of it. With a woman like Jun Xiyan standing by his side, things couldn’t be better. They were a good match.
But... what about her?
What would she do after he got engaged to Jun Xiyan? Where did that leave her?
He had truly forgotten about her, he had forsaken her.
A conversation which took place between a few nurses resounded in her ears—-
“Hurry and look at this, President Gu is really going to get engaged to the eldest daughter of the Jun family, Jun Xiyan. Their engagement ceremony is under the spotlight in the Capital.”
“Since President Gu getting engaged to Jun Xiyan, what’s going to happen to Mo’er?”
“President Gu and Mo’er were together but that relationship happened in Karghalik. Most importantly, President Gu didn’t register his marriage with Mo’er, their relationship wasn’t approved of by their families and she isn’t legally protected. Did you forget about what happened with Lu Qi’er? Mo’er is going to end up like her. In the end, they don’t have any legitimate statuses.”
“That’s right, a friend of mine in the Capital told me that President Gu has already started going on dates with Jun Xiyan, they even had a candlelight dinner and the atmosphere was good.”
“Oh dear, we didn’t expect the Jun family to have the last laugh. They’ve won over President Gu, who’s only multiplied his wealth ever since he set up his own company. Now that he has his own business empire, whoever marries him will be the Young Madam of his conglomerate.”
“A handsome and rich man like President Gu, who is free of scandals... Damn, he is the perfect husband any woman could ever dream for...”
The nurses were totally engaged in their conversation and only stopped when they heard an awkward cough. Turning back, they noticed the Chairman of the hospital standing behind them and giving them overt signals to stop speaking.
The nurses were shocked, Lu Jinwen and Lu Yan were there and they weren’t sure when Tang Mo’er had arrived. Her face was paper white and completely dispirited.
Lu Jinwen stood in place, shooting baleful gazes at the pair of gossiping women. The atmosphere was ice-cold and completely silent, so silent that should a needle have dropped on the ground, it would have been heard clearly.
He quickly walked beside Tang Mo’er. “Mo’er.”
Tang Mo’er turned her head around, her eyes all watery but she restrained herself, not allowing a single teardrop to fall. She looked at Lu Jinwen with a brave stance. “Can you bring me to the Capital?”
Lu Jinwen pursed his lips together. “You’re thinking of finding him?”
“Yes, I’m going to find him and make him mine again.”
She had heard him. Her Mr Gu had told her that if he were to ever let go of her hand, she should never give up and find him back.
She firmly believed that she would be able to find him and make him hers again.
Lu Jinwen remained silent.
Noticing that he didn’t have any response, Tang Mo’er turned around and prepared to leave. “It’s fine then, I’ll go to the Capital by myself.”
She was intending to purchase her air tickets and take the next available flight to the Capital. Perhaps she would be able to rush to the Capital in time and make it to his engagement ceremony.
Tang Mo’er entered her hospital ward and packed everything up in preparation for her discharge.
“Mo’er, I’ll take you there.”
...
Tang Mo’er was seated on Lu Jinwen’s private jet, it only took a few hours before they arrived in the Capital and she rushed to the engagement ceremony once she landed.
The engagement ceremony was held in the gardens of the Gu family estate. It was a private engagement party and the guests they invited were all influential people. The party was heavily guarded with security officers all around and they were religiously checking all the invitation cards.
Tang Mo’er scanned her eyes around the venue, it was even more extravagant, yet low-profile compared to the one in Karghalik. It struck her that Gu Mohan was really going to get engaged to Jun Xiyan.
She stood outside the Gu estate, awaiting Gu Mohan’s arrival.
She had to meet Gu Mohan tonight no matter what.
She wasn’t convinced that he could forget about her so easily.
She had to intercept him before he entered the venue, she couldn’t let him to proceed with the engagement ceremony.
“Young Master has arrived!”
A group of bodyguards appeared, the entire estate was cordoned off and Tang Mo’er was forced outside the line before a Rolls Royce limousine appeared before her.
The limousine was polished to a gleaming finish, pausing in front of the estate as though welcoming the entrance of a king.
The front door was opened, Yan Dong alighted from the limousine before he walked behind and opened the back door.
Tang Mo’er couldn’t resist moving forward, as she stared at the back door and a gleaming black leather shoe appeared before her eyes.
When she looked up, she could see him dressed in a tailored black suit and it was ironed to perfection, leaving no creases on his suit. Gu Mohan alighted from the limousine and his hair was slicked back, revealing his distinct forehead and handsome facial features. He was extremely good looking, exuding a masculine charm that left the women completely mesmerized.
It was him.
It was really him.
Her Mr Gu.
Tears welled up in Tang Mo’er’s eyes, she felt like she was almost going to burst into tears.
