Chapter 476: Watching His Car Speed Away
_The next morning._
Tang Mo’er walked out of the bungalow and saw a vehicle parked on the lawn outside.
Lu Jinwen had also woken up and he stopped beside her. He was clad in a grey shirt with his sleeves were rolled up, revealing his muscular arms and a luxurious watch adorned his wrist. “Mo’er, I’ll have someone chauffeur you to and from the university.”
Tang Mo’er turned around, her luminous eyes landed on Lu Jinwen’s face. “There’s no need for you to do that, I’ll be staying on campus.”
Lu Jinwen arched an eyebrow but didn’t speak.
“I’ve promised to stay in the Capital but that doesn’t mean that I’ve returned to the Lu family. This is not my home. There’s also no need for you to hold a birthday party for me.” Tang Mo’er’s gaze then moved to Lin Xuanyin and she smirked. “Also, I only have one mother. I won’t call any other woman Mommy.”
Lin Xuanyin had appeared elegantly, wearing a long white dress with a baby blue fur mantle.
After hearing Tang Mo’er’s words, the atmosphere became incredibly awkward and she spoke up, “Mo’er, I...”
Clearly ignoring her, Tang Mo’er turned around and got in the car. “Start the car.”
The car sped away.
...
Lu Jinwen looked on as the car drove away. Lin Xuanyin walked over and paused beside him. “Jinwen, you weren’t even planning to get Mo’er to address me as Mommy in the first place, were you?”
Lu Jinwen had both hands in his trouser pocket, he gave Lin Xuanyin a gentle glance. “Mo’er is all grown up, no one can force her to do anything if she’s unwilling to do so.”
“Is that so? Didn’t you promise to hand Mo’er over to me 21 years ago and let me raise her? Isn’t she supposed to call me Mommy? Why did you send her to the Lin family instead?” Lin Xuanyin questioned him.
Lu Jinwen pursed his lips together, running his fingers through Lin Xuanyin’s hair. The corner of his lips kicked up and he said, “Xuanyin, you should be aware of what you should say and what you shouldn’t say, right?”
Though he appeared to be speaking in a cordial manner, she could detect a dangerous edge in his eyes, warning her that he wasn’t one she should provoke. Her hands were balled into two fists by her side, but she quickly smiled. “I apologize for my behavior just now.”
“It’s fine,” Lu Jinwen smiled at her. “Do not make such a mistake next time.”
After speaking, he entered the bungalow and Butler Ye followed after him.
Seeing his dignified back view, Lin Xuanyin’s face stiffened, the smile sliding off her face. Lu Jinwen was just like that, he could dote on her and satisfy all her needs but he couldn’t tolerate her if she were to be too nosy. He was overbearing in that way.
She actually didn’t need him to tell her the answer, she already knew what it was.
According to their agreements, Lu Jinwen would hand Tang Mo’er over to Lin Xuanji for her to raise baby Mo’er up. However, Lin Xuanji had gone on a hunger strike.
Lin Xuanji had refused to eat and according to the helpers, Lu Jinwen would come home early from work everyday to feed her personally.
But she wasn’t appreciative of his efforts, even locking him outside of her room everyday after her confinement period.
And so, he finally gave in.
He sent Lu Qi’er, who was supposed to be Tang Mo’er, to the Lin family in Karghalik.
Lu Jinwen had always asked for Lin Xuanyin to remain quiet but on the other hand, when Lin Xuanji was being quiet, he would panic. He couldn’t wait for Lin Xuanji to make more noise and pester him.
...
A University.
Tang Mo’er was rushing towards her classroom. There had been a terrible traffic jam earlier on and she was almost late for class.
That was her first class ever and she was actually going to be late for it. She couldn’t help but blame herself inside.
After reaching the school of jewelry design and finding her classroom, she straightened her back and apologized, “Sorry I’m late, Teacher.”
A stern, middle-aged woman stood on the rostrum. She was the lecturer for the school of jewelry design and also the Dean of A University, He Ling.
He Ling turned her head around and sized Tang Mo’er up. She spoke with an unpleasant tone, “You’re Tang Mo’er, right? Why are you late for your first lesson?”
“I...” Tang Mo’er wanted to explain herself.
“Forget it, there’s no need for you to explain yourself. Come in, your seat is in the last row.” He Ling pushed her glasses up as she spoke.
Tang Mo’er entered the classroom and her classmates were all judging her from head to toe as she walked down and arrived in front of her seat.
He Ling was still criticizing her, “Tang Mo’er, I hope that you won’t be late next time. You shouldn’t be complacent just because you have Mr Lu’s backing. Don’t think that you have any special rights in my class, A University has strict standards and everything we do is merit-based.
“Speaking of talent and academic achievements in jewelry design, you should learn from Li Fei’fei. She’s our top student.”
Li Fei’fei was He Ling’s biological niece, the top student in their class. She had good looks and she glanced at Tang Mo’er with a smug expression.
It was then that Tang Mo’er realized she wasn’t going to have things easy. They seemed to have something against her.
How could they start being against her so easily?
...
After class.
Her female classmates started screaming, “Let’s go! We have to hurry and leave right now, Professor Gu has already arrived!”
“Is Professor Gu lecturing today? Why didn’t I see it in the timetable?”
“He’s not lecturing today, Professor Gu dropped by to visit his sister An’an. Quick, we’ll have a chance to meet Professor Gu!”
“Hurry up, let’s go together!”
The female classmates were all hyped up, including Li Fei’fei.
Tang Mo’er’s heart thumped loudly in her chest. Gu Mohan was going to come today?
Her luminous eyes lit up, she certainly had good luck. It was her first day in school and she already had the chance to meet Mr Gu.
Grabbing her bag, she bolted outside and weaved through the mass of students.
She ran onto the cobblestone trail and a group of students rushed over, surrounding her. “Mo’er, please give us your autograph, we are all your fans.”
“Mo’er, when are you planning to make your comeback? We’re all waiting for your next work.”
Tang Mo’er received the pen and quickly signed an autograph. She went up on her tiptoes, trying to search for Mr Gu.
She wanted to quickly finish signing the autographs and search for Mr Gu after then but the line only got longer. Many students were surrounding her.
A Rolls-Royce Phantom sped away, the black vehicle was well-polished and had a king-like presence.
“Mr Gu!” Tang Mo’er shouted before she gathered all her might and escaped the crowd. But she was too late, the Rolls Royce had already driven away by the time she got out.
She could see a dignified figure in the backseat through the glistening windows. His head was lowered, seemingly looking through documents.
It was Mr Gu.
It was really Mr Gu.
“Mr Gu, wait for me... ah!”
Tang Mo’er screamed, she had tripped over a cobblestone and fell flat on the ground.
Her knees were scraped and lacerated, her bloody flesh could be seen.
Mr Gu.
She tried to get up but couldn’t succeed. Lifting her head, she had noticed that the Rolls-Royce Phantom had already sped away, vanishing from her sight long ago.
Tang Mo’er bit down on her lower lip with her teeth, lowering her eyelashes pitifully. Her knees were hurting and she blew on her wound lightly, her eyes red and watery.
