Chapter 216: Maestro Chef.

You Xi Wang reached back home with his sisters and made a beeline straight to the kitchen. He was going to make Biryani for the whole family. You see, despite having similarities in culture the food of this planet was something You Xi Wang never really adored. He came to the kitchen and saw that some of his aunts were busy supervising the chefs and employees of the house. You Xi Wang walked in with a smile and spoke to a genial-looking old woman, who sat on a high chair reading a book, "Big Granny Cotton, why are you not resting?"

Big Granny cotton is the aunt of his grandfathers. She was the second miss of the family but her husband passed away. She did not have any children. She was asked by the then family master to remarry but the woman was dedicated to the family and denied. At this moment she is 98 years old. Although she is a core formation cultivator, she does not use the spiritual energy to keep herself young. She wore a white long gown.

She lifted her head up to see You Xi Wang looking at her with a sheepish smile. She spoke in a low voice, "Our naughty boy finally has time to see big granny?"josei

You Xi Wang smiled faintly at her remark. The lady continued asking, "You could have come to my room. Why come to the kitchen? No sneaking out snacks, family rules."

You Xi Wang smiled and said, "I will cook a dish for everyone in the family."

Big Granny Cotton, had a heart same as her name. She spoke to him in a coaxing manner, "Okay, no speaking, you cook one batch for grandma. If I find it palatable, then I will let the staff cook it. Okay?"

You Xi Wang nodded vigorously. He took out a portion of various ingredients from his space ring and put them on the table. He picked up a spare apron from the side and tied it on. Then very meticulously the young master started to wash various vegetables. He then peeled and chopped them. The whole process was very neat and smooth as if a master was doing it. Then he asked his aunt, "Aunt Anna, do we have some dry nuts and also can you please help me wash and soak the 5 cups of rice?"

The lady with blonde hair nodded with a smile on her face. She gestured a chef to provide You Xi Wang with a variety of nuts and personally helped him washing and soaking the rice. You Xi Wang took out some chicken meat from a packet on the side. All the chickens were slaughtered with the method he asked the butcher to follow. He did not want to deal with the blood of the chicken. So he washed the chicken and seasoned it with a lot of spices he had prepared by himself. He let the meat rest and soak in the spices, while he sauteed all the vegetables. He used refined butter and the kitchen was filled with various aromas from the roasting. He then roasted some nuts as well. He asked the chef to half cook the rice while he was doing this.

At last, he took the chicken meat and roasted it as well. Then he used an open-top earthen pot to cook the rice. Throughout the process, he did not falter, and neither did he slowed down. The whole kitchen was filled with aroma and silence. The people present did not expect You Xi Wang to be so good at his craft. He took some fried onion sliced and placed them on the bottom of the pot, then he placed rice then some veggies, and then some chicken. He created layers inside the pot with a bundle of spices tied in a muslin cloth and chicken in the center with a covering of vegetables and then rice. He added some water and sealed the pot with an earthen dish and closed it airtight with some dough encompassing the vessel.

He looked up to the surprised people and spoke while scratching the back of his head, "Umm, can I have some cold juice?" Big Granny Cotton shook her head and said, "You can have juice but not cold. It's harmful at night."

You Xi Wang nodded and a staff person brought him a big glass of juice. The whole kitchen watched the earthen pot placed on the stove, with the fire lit underneath it. Auntie Anna asked YOu Xi Wang, "How would we know if it is cooked?"

You Xi Wang replied, "When the sealant dough hardens in its place. Also, if it is good enough then please ask the chefs to help me cook." The staff immediately expressed their support as they really found some interesting food to cook. As the people indulged in chatting the food was cooked and You Xi Wang stood up from his chair. He took some strands of saffron and then blended them with milk. 

He created a barrier around the pot and opened the pot. He quickly poured in the saffron milk all over the rice and then with a big spatula gave the rice a good stir. Then he removed the barriers and instantly a bomb of aroma exploded in the mansion's kitchen. You Xi Wang took out some colorful rice mixed with Vegetables and meat and placed it in a dish. Then he took some twigs of coriander and garnished the food. He took a bowl of Yogurt and served it to Big Granny Cotton.

He spoke, "Big Granny, you can eat some Yogurt if the rice feels too dry." with both his hands he placed the food in front of Lady Cotton. The old lady gracefully put down her book and picked up a spoon. 

Under a lot of expectant gazes, she stirred the rice a bit and then ate a spoonful amount of rice. Then without commenting she tried the vegetables and rice and even took a bite of the chicken. While people were waiting for her evaluation The old lady kept eating. Only after finishing the whole dish did she spoke, "Excellent."
