A Frontline Soldier Awakened as a Gamer In The War!

Chapter 55

Chapter 55: (1)

Creak.

Bisel, standing guard at the front of the carriage, raised his hand while looking back.

“How about stopping here for today?”

“Let’s do that.”

“It’s already the third day today.”

Three days had passed since they departed from the Blatan Territory, heading northwest.

The group consisted of ten upper members and ten mercenaries, including Kaiyan. It was a sizable group.

“Kaiyan, how are you feeling? Are you okay?”josei

Banson spoke to Kaiyan as he looked around.

“Yes, I don’t feel any particular danger. Let’s take a rest here.”

During the three-day journey, Kaiyan learned an interesting fact. The heightened sense of danger he acquired wasn’t actually a sense of danger but more of a warning.

“To think you can anticipate their arrival. It’s truly fascinating. How do you know when they’re coming?”

“I have a slightly more sensitive hearing than others. I can hear the sounds of them approaching.”

Banson asked if Kaiyan was alright for that reason. It was because Kaiyan had warned them in advance about monster attacks during the past few days.

When they first encountered the monsters after the departure of the upper members, the sensation of danger felt quite weak, almost doubtful.

And the monsters that attacked them were just twenty goblins. They didn’t pose much of a threat, especially now.

However, if the sense is triggered, it means that it warns about all variables rather than just danger.

“Jansen, let’s take a rest here today.”

Bisel approached the carriage where the client was sitting and knocked on the door.

“Understood. Let everyone know to take a break.”

“Yes, we’ll continue with the meal as usual.”

Even though Bisel asked, Jansen didn’t come out to answer, even though the carriage had completely stopped.

“Does Jansen have no intention of coming out today either?”

It was a little unusual, but they didn’t know if it was something he normally did. Jansen hadn’t come out of the carriage even once during the three days.

He handled everything, including meals, going to the bathroom, and everything else inside the carriage. They wondered why he chose to do so.

“Kaiyan, let’s start preparing the meal.”

“Yes, let’s do that.”

They were curious about the reason, but unless they directly asked him, they wouldn’t know.

The mercenaries and workers, who had organized the carriage for easy defense, gathered in one place and started preparing the meal.

The meal was a meat stew that they had been eating repeatedly for three days. It barely had any meat in it.

“Well, if we maintain our pace, we should enter the plains tomorrow. What do you think?”

“Yeah, we’ve arrived faster than expected. If things continue like this, we should enter the plains before lunchtime tomorrow.”

While having the meal, the mercenaries chatted about the upcoming schedule.

“The plains, huh? Not a welcoming place.”

The plains they mentioned were the Louis Plains connected to the Gami-an Great Plains.

Although it was much smaller compared to the Great Plains, it was still a dangerous place where monsters frequently appeared, especially because it was right under Gami-an. Moreover, now that the monster wave had ended, it was highly likely that monsters seeking prey would be wandering around.

“Most of them will be small monsters anyway.”

As long as there were ten mercenaries, mostly composed of C-rank mercenaries, there was no reason to be overwhelmed by a few small monsters. Moreover, Kaiyan was there, concealing his abilities.

“Rather than that, where exactly is our destination? It’s about time to tell us.”

They only knew that their destination was northwest, but they were in a situation where they didn’t know the exact location.

To be precise, only Jansen knew the destination, but he kept insisting on going northwest without saying anything else.

“That’s right. It’s about time to tell us. Looking at the situation, it seems like Louis Plains might be our destination… What’s there exactly?”

“That’s not important. As long as we receive the promised money, that’s enough. Isn’t that right?”

“Well, that’s true.”

“Yes, we’re going there because there must be some benefit.”

When Banson spoke to the mercenaries who were questioning, they all seemed to agree. As mercenaries, they didn’t need to know more than that.

“Still, it wouldn’t hurt to be cautious.”

From Kaiyan’s perspective, knowing that there were humans more vicious than monsters on the battlefield, he naturally felt wary of the secretive Therian upper members.

“Hmm?”

At that moment, Kaiyan’s senses cautiously rang an alert. Someone was approaching their group.

“A monster? The second one today.”

They had been attacked by monsters several times during their journey, so it wasn’t surprising. However, this time, the feeling was slightly different from the usual sense that rang.

Ching-

“Oh…!”

“I was just about to take a rest.”

As Kaiyan drew his sword and stood up, the resting mercenaries sighed and stood up as well.

“What’s going on this time? Goblins?”

“We don’t know that much. We just know that they’re approaching our direction.”

While the mercenaries remained vigilant and formed a defensive formation, the upper members entered the carriage. They would only be a hindrance, so it was better for them to stay in the carriage.

“There are about thirty of them… But why are they coming from all directions?”

The monsters that had attacked them before gathered in one place, but this time, these creatures were spreading out and approaching them as if surrounding them. They were like well-organized units.

“Banson, they’re converging from all directions!”

“From all directions? Ah… Damn it! Bisel, you take care of the opposite side!”

“Got it! Katina, Verium, Rissel, follow me!”

Fwoosh.

As the creatures approached closely, an unnatural sound of grass rustling reached their ears.

Now, they were getting closer with their eyes blazing red. They were about to attack and kill. However…

“Why aren’t they coming out?”

“We’ve never encountered anything like this.”

“Why?”

The word “why” was appropriate because, despite getting close, the creatures continued to hide. It was as if they were observing them.

This wasn’t just a simple monster attack.

“Banson, something’s…!”

In the midst of trying to warn them.

Thwack!

“Arrows!”

“Argh!”
