A Story of Evil

Chapter 114: Unfortunate Creatures II

Chapter 114: Unfortunate Creatures II

Chapter 114: Unfortunate Creatures II

Massacre. That is the perfect word describing what was happening in that moment. All of Sol's allies focused on defending themselves against the summoned soldiers which, upon nearing death, creates a gigantic explosion in suicide.

These two factors made the fight one sided. There was no way for them to continue attacking because, most of them couldn't even fly. They couldn't get safely away from the full extent of the attack. Forcing them back to a corner.

Sol continued giving order after order. But in the midst of all the chaos, there was no way for him to methodically command his troops. Knowing that they couldn't respond in time. Nor could he have all the pieces move when they were needed.

One by one, the soldiers fell victim to the flame soldiers. And the worst thing about what was happening was that, their main enemies didn't even need to strike. Herald and his servants were just floating in the middle of the battlefield. Watching the display as if it was a form of entertainment for them.

"You think you already won huh. Let's see how long you could stay high up." Sol said, finally stepping up and taking out his Void Sword.

Although he was restricted from showing his skills to anyone, Sol could still use them. This is because none of the skills within his arsenal were showy. Nobody could see his space magic nor could they understand that, what was coating Sol's sword at that time was of the same characteristic.

To the soldiers, it simply looked like a regular sword. Imbued by some type of mechanism which was probably developed in the Void Domain. A worried soldier raised his concern, moving close to Sol before he could even begin attacking.

"My lord what are you doing?" The soldier said.

"You should fall back." Another one commented.

"Worry about yourselves first. I'm going to show you how capable your commander is." Sol moved the two Soldiers blocking his path, blocking the strike of an infernal soldier as he commanded:

"Go!" The soldiers did as they were told. Attacking other summons while still worrying about their commander.

"Goodness, these guys don't trust my fighting capabilities huh." Sol pivoted his body to the side, dodging one swing which buried his opponent's sword to the ground. The passive was enough for him to slice off the head of his target. Leaping away just as quick as, the explosion came after.

Sol activated [Spatial Awareness] as he ran across the whole battlefield. Killing infernal soldiers with single strikes and leaving explosions on his trail. The numbers of the internals rapidly decreased, surprising Herald who stayed calm nevertheless.

With just his presence, Sol was able to turn the tide of the battle. Encouraging his allies who gained back their courage for the second time.

"Don't drag me down everyone!" Sol cockily commanded, with all the soldiers inspired to do even better.

The fight lasted for another fifteen minutes and, right after this, Herald clapped at them.

"I must say you guys are a bit impressive. However, worms are still worms." Herald snapped his fingers again, raising the same number of infantry from the ground up.

"You've got to be kidding me. How many times can he cast that skill?" Alice mentioned, with Sol looking up to the gigantic ball of flames on top of Herald.

"Just focus on eliminating them for now. I'll figure something out." Sol mentioned.

"Gotcha!"

Although able to fend the first wave, a second wave of these creatures felt too much for the group. If Herald simply continued raising these summons everytime they get annihilated, then there would be no end to it. Not until Sol and his team were finally defeated.

"Do you see now? You are no match for me!" Herald furthered; with Sol commanding his allies to gather at a single location. Gaining a below of laughter from Herald who thought that they were a hopeless case.

But Sol was far from giving up. There was no point to commanding his forces one by one anymore. In such a situation, he needed a sure fire plan to turn the tables. Without knowing the enemy's full arsenal however, this was impossible.

That's why he decided to risk on one move.

The team was covered in a thick layer of ice which was coated over by a waterfall, guarded by tentacles. These battled the infernal soldiers which finally had trouble getting through. Giving Sol enough time to discuss the final strategy.

Meanwhile, Herald grew impatient. The fire he was gathering was almost ripe and ready to fire. And with this he planned on ending the fight.

"This is getting boring. Let's finish this and go to the next area."

"Understood my lord." Was the unanimous reply of his servants. With Herald almost firing the attack, if not for what happened next.

The waterfall turned into a full tide. Almost reaching Herald and his attendants. They backed away as the infernals got so drenched that, only a bit of health remained on them. Steel spikes then shot from the ground; killing all of them and creating a multitude of explosions. Shaking the earth and making Herald a bit annoyed as he raised the same number once again. All while gathering the flames on top of him which, reduced in strength at that time.

The fight continued to the way it was a few second ago. With the humans struggling against Herald who thought of himself to be god. He laughed at the sight; thinking how futile the efforts of the humans were. Thinking how he could continue respawning the infernal soldiers.

Meanwhile, everyone on Sol's side was struggling to their limits. Getting hit by the explosions and putting their lives on the line. Yet nobody surrendered nor did they back away. They continued attacking wave after wave until the decisive blow was finally ready. That is, for Herald.

"You kept my attack prolonged for so long. For tat alone I commend you. However, this is the end of the road for you." The creature said, with his orb finally back to full strength. Growing as large as a four story building at that point. With its heat even matching that of Jade's

"FAREWELL HUMANS!" Herald released his attack and

It disappeared.

"W-what." In a moment of shock, Herald and his servants where at a loss on what to do. Puzzled about the event that just happened, they were simply floating still in the air.

"My turn." Sol said to himself as he shouted:

"JADE!"

In a split second interval, Herald felt mana even more than what he amassed. All on a  single point. He quickly turned his head to look where it was but, found nothing but air. A trace of green runes was however left. Something which Herald followed up to the sky. Finally seeing the same boy who gave him a middle finger smirk as Jade casted:

"Overheat!"

With all of the flames of the four waves of infernals being consumed, Jade had amassed more than what his body could handle. Burning him from the inside.

His third skill, [Overheat], functions as a way to release all of this at once. All of the flames he gathered becomes a strong green flamethrower that burns everything it touches.

Sol and the others backed away as far as they could. With a wall of ice being used once again. This was casted over other skills that served as their shield from the hellish flames.

What they didn't know was that Solomon softened the blow. Creating a gravitational push that made most of the flame shoot up instead of hting their ice wall directly. Also consuming a large amount of his mana.

Little by little the flames died out until, none of it was left. The intensity of the flames could be felt from the ground that looked like lava at that point. Burning red, glowing in the midst of the darkness.

Yet even before they could see who won, a creature was flung towards the wall of ice. Breaking it as they saw a half burned Jade.

"W-What happened?" One soldier asked, with Sol looking up only to see the unfortunate state of things.

"He's still alive." Jade said, shocking everyone who looked to where he was pointing. Finding the same creature burning even stronger than before.

"YOU KILLED MY SERVANTS!" Herald howled. With his whole body being covered in blue flames. All his markings were bright blue and his horns turned to flames it self. There were six balls of flame at his back and a halo on top of his head.

"My lord, what are we going to do? His soldiers said yet, in Sol's mind there was no strategy to use anymore. He was out of cards and, the level of their enemy which went even higher wasn't something they can deal with.

Fortunately, they didn't have to. The black crystal on Sol's necklace finally glowed. Making the boy smirk as he murmured.

"Took you long enough."

"What was that my lord?" Another soldier asked.

"You don't have to worry about anything. Just stand back and watch." Sol said standing up and gazing at their infuriated opponent.

"Pay for this with your lives!" Herald screamed, creating another gigantic ball of flames yet, this immediately vanished as he was hurled to the ground. Crashing into the lava-like scorchness and being forced down by the entity that just came.

"The only life that's getting paid is yours." King Jubilee said. Arriving to the fight.
