Chapter 115: Unfortunate Creatures III

[The day before Sol's Division was sent out.]

"My liege, you called for me?" Sol said, kneeling in front of Jubilee who rested the file of papers he was holding to the table. Right next to a strange metal briefcase and a tea set.

"Ah yes. Solomon, I have an important matter to discuss with you." The Void King said as he patted a chair. Motioning for Sol to sit on it which the boy accepted.

"What would that be?" Sol asked once again.

"I'm sure you are aware of the dangers brought about by this mission now. How you are more likely to encounter the first generation more than anyone else." King Jubilee began, sitting at the chair in front of Sol's.

"Yes my liege." Was the boy's short reply.

"But you aren't asking for any form of defenses." The king continued, pouring tea onto the porcelain cup sitting at his side of the table. Giving a stare at Sol right after as he asked:

"Why is that?"

"Because I know that you would already have something planned my liege." At this King Jubilee couldn't help but smile. Brushing his hair as he gave his response.

"You put too much trust in me boy." The Void King stared into the eyes of his youngest male knight.

"You and Alice are the most valuable gems in this domain. If given a choice between you two and the whole domain, I would always chose you both. Logically. However, I cannot just send any person to lead the division. You, and only you are capable of leading all of those soldiers from the other domains."

"Thank you my liege. But what does that have to do with the danger you speak of?" Sol said, brushing aside the praises he heard.

"Well, just like you mentioned, I do have a plan in mind."

"What would that be my liege?" Sol asked.

"Your team will be the lure to bring out the first generation." King Jubilee stated. As if it was something sane and logical.

"So you are purposely making us court death." Sol stated. A fact that both of them can't deny.

"Yes Sol. That is what I am doing. You're the only one capable of handling that kind of situation."

"Thank you my liege but, you do know that flattery does not work on me now right?" Sol said, referring to the fact that [Cold Blooded] placed him on this state. Making the Void King raise his hands in surrender as he replied:

"Hey I'm just saying the truth." He quickly rested his arms down and went back to using his casual voice.

"Anyway. Once that moment comes, use this." King Jubilee reached for the briefcase that Sol noticed earlier.

Upon opening it, Sol saw another gun. One which had two specialized looking bullets. Coated in mana crystal and evidently having some other tinkering done with it.

"This item functions as a firework. It creates a large visible light in the sky and has been upgraded to reach a thousand kilometers." King Jubilee said, giving the briefcase to Sol; continuing with his instructions.

"As soon as you encounter a first generation. Use that. Stall for time. Use any method you can think of and secure the lives of all your soldiers. Meet those conditions because, no matter what, I'll come to your rescue." King Jubilee said, with his tone sounding resolute.

"Understood my liege." Was Sol's short reply. Taking up the role of the king's decoy.

Suddenly, everyone forgot about the overpowered Herald and his sudden transformation. Instead, everyone gazed up the sky. Looking at the figure who floated in the darkness. Wearing a black mantle and a black crown.

There was no mistaking who it was. Everyone saw him from the talk show last Culling and, citizens from every domain was also familiar with him. With all of the events in the Void that centered on him and his announcements and, all of the progress made because of him, there was not a single person who didn't know who he was and how he looked. It was unmistakably, King Jubilee.

Yet the seeming unbelievability of what happened shook everyone's brains. Their reasoning refusing to believe what was before them. Resorting to asking their Commander; Solomon.

"My lord, is that the Void king?" One soldier took the initiative. With Sol patting the one who asked while answering:

"Yup."

"Then why is he floating in the sky?" Another soldier asked. Thinking how impossible the current state of things were.

"That part is a bit complicated. Anyway, we need to move away from here. All those who are capable, gather the wounded. This battle is beyond what any of us can handle."

"But my lord, what about the Void king?"

"Trust me, he doesn't need out worry." Sol said, lifting one soldier up and putting the arm around his shoulder to assist.

"Come on." Sol said, with everyone finally moving as they were told.

Before making another step, Solomon raised his fist. Pointing it to the king and giving a confident grin. Even with the distance between them, Sol knew that the king would understand what this meant. And after this act, he finally moved again. Heading out with everyone.

King Jubilee took a momentary glance at Solomon and his troops. Within the short amount of time given to Solomon, he was able to advance to greater and insurmountable heights. This much could be seen as he used Analysis on both Sol and Alice.

"That's good. Keep on growing you two. I'll handle the rest." The king said, dropping to the ground to meet his foe which, has finally regained his footing.

"You, who are you?" Herald asked. With his body shivering, not because it was afraid. But because it remembered Damian who made his body go through the same experience.

"You know I'm getting tired of constantly being asked that. So why don't you drop it?" Jubilee said, uninterested at whatever his opponent had to say.

Herald didn't take this insult lightly. With every second he spent in the presence of Jubilee, he was getting more and more annoyed.

Herald released even more despicable flames than before. Melting the very ground where he was stepping on. With smoke rising from all over his body that was covered in blue flames.

"You'd do well to answer me before I burn you to crisp!" Herald demanded, finally urging Jubilee to have enough energy to respond.

"I am the Void King and, since you attacked my loyal subjects, your sentence is death." Jubilee increased the gravity on where Herald was. Forcing him down once again. Yet, the creature was able to stand his ground. Impressing the king who expected the level of resistance nevertheless.

"You have the same powers as him!" Herald said.

"Who?" King Jubilee asked as his opponent finally took the initiative. Creating a thousand infernal soldiers. All upgraded and, having five hundred of these as ranged units.

"That's a bit impressive actually." Jubilee commented, looking around which was covered by nothing but these summons.

"Impressive? Hahahaha! You will know fear!" Herald said, making all of his units attack at once. All one thousand strong. In his head there was no way for this to be countered. Unfortunately, he was wrong.

"Kneel." In an instant, Herald and his soldiers dropped to both their knees. All feeling the weight of gravity pushing them down. Making him bleed and slowly squatting his summons flat. It was twenty times stronger than what was used on him earlier. Preventing him from getting up.

"Did I not make myself clear? I said, you are going to die." Jubilee mentioned, with all of Herald's infernal soldiers finally getting squashed. Creating a thousand ear deafening explosions that shook the earth and collapsed the ruined buildings near them.

It was at this moment that Herald felt the resemblance between Damian and his opponent even more. Their authoritative aura. Their absolute orders. The way they carried themselves and, how they adhered to their laws.

As Herald looked at his opponent, he did not see the Void King. He saw the shadow of Damian. Smirking at him and making him feel inferior.

"ALL OF YOU ARE MAKING A FOOL OUT OF ME!" He screamed.

"Well I don't know who everyone is but count me in." Was all that Jubilee said as he angered his opponent even more.

Herald released a sea of blue flames. The fire rose to cover both him and Jubilee. Leaving no room for escape as Jubilee also felt something suspicious on the open hole in the sky. The flames were maddeningly hot. Burning the King's clothes at that very moment.

At this, Herald began laughing like a madman. Materializing an oni mask of blue flames that covered his face as he declared.

"You will burn to ashes!"
