Chapter 94: The Chaos
Chapter 94: The Chaos
Chapter 94: The Chaos
It wasn't common for the king himself to pay a visit to the slums. In fact, the chances were almost nonexistent. Although frequenting it when he was still a prince, the king has completely shut himself to the inner walls upon ascending the throne.
That is why, when Jubilee stepped foot into the place, he had nothing but the piercing gazes of all the slum dwellers. The eyes that peeked from the holes of their sheds or, from the side of their houses. With women huddled together in broad daylight, whispering among themselves while, some men also did the same.
He was at the site of the accident. With the burnt truck visible from even a distance. Inside were crates that were almost fully burnt while the corpse was already brought to Lilia' lab for autopsy.
Of course there were those that tried approaching him. In fact, a crowd was flocking to where the king was. But, the soldiers he brought along the way, together with the two knights Onyx and Colonel, were enough to keep them at bay.
Part of this was because an audience with the king is something that must be earned. No matter what domain it is, this is a custom practice. However, there was a second and seemingly more important reason. That is, there was something strange with the crowd.
"Hey Onyx, they seem to be have some kind of disease." There were purple lines on some of the citizens approaching them; coughing and seemingly in a drunken stupor.
"You think I can't see that?" The other knight responded, remembering the fact that he didn't want to stack up burdens for the king.
"Let's just tell him after he's done looking at the crash site. Agreed?"
"Fine." As soon as Colonel said this, it was the king who spoke next. Asking Onyx about the specifics of the event.
"You're saying that we have no witnesses of this event, correct?"
"Yes my liege. Apparently not a single soul has seen what has happened here."
"Interesting." The king said, walking around the vehicle.
"Onyx and Col, take care of the bystanders for me. I need to focus."
"Understood my liege." Was the reply of both knights.
King Jubilee used his [Analysis] on the whole area. The truck and everything near it were subjected to the eyes of the Void king that could see everything.
[Wood Plank]
[Debris]
[Ashes]
[Burnt Tires]
[Broken door]
[Burnt Meat]
[Broken Crates]
These things were part of what the king could see. There was a lot of unnecessary details but, Jubilee has learned to look through all of this. Focusing solely on the things that are truly important. Namely, the object which he found at that exact moment.
There was a small object lying on the ground. Because his [Analysis] was almost at max rank, there was a function added to it. Everything he saw had their names differentiated in color. This told him what kind of item it was. At that moment, the item he held had a violet color. Meaning, it was a malevolent or deteriorating item.
[Name: Chaos Seed]
[Material Type: Dormant Seed]
[Information: The seed is something which thrives within the Chaos Areas. There are two ways of utilizing the seed. The first is planting It and growing it into a tree. Creating more seeds that could be used. The second is through burning of the substance. The item will create Chaos air, infecting those nearby and slowly turning them into chaos monsters.]
[Information: The turning is often characterized be a half-conscious state. With purple veins protruding from the skin's surface. The state is highly contagious and, will almost always infect those who are close by.]
The king's eyes widened in horror as he looked at the crowd. There were people among the group who had the said symptoms. His [Analysis] which was still active at that time gave him the same result. Showing the names of his citizens, all with violet color.
There was nothing he could do at that point. He opened his communicator that was directly linked to Lilia. The researcher who was still within Pentagon at that time.
"Hey hotshot what's up?"
"Lilia, I need you to do me a favor."
"You say that like I have a choice buddy. So what do you need this time?"
"I need you to turn off all the feed being recorded by the [Odd Balls] on the outer wall."
"Seriously? Jubilee what are you up to this time?" Lilia said, her voice genuinely sounding concerned.
"I'll explain everything as soon as I get back. How long do you need in order to do that?"
"I can turn it off as soon as our communication disconnects. Are you sure though?" Lilia asked, thinking of the other domains that watched everything happening within the Void closely.
"Yeah. Thanks." The king said, turning off the communication.
The king didn't waste any time. There was a single path needed to be taken at that point. He made Onyx and Colonel walk closer to him as he gave the command:
"Kill them all." The two knights seem to have become deaf at that moment. They couldn't move an inch as their brains were trying to process if there was a hidden meaning to the king's words. But there was none of the sort.
"Pardon my liege?" Onyx asked just to make sure.
"Kill all the bystanders, leave none of them standing." The king's voice was unwavering. Making the two understand that the order was absolute. However, this didn't stop Colonel from trying once again.
"But my liege"
"Now!" The king demanded, finally mobilizing the knights and their men.
There was no escaping it. The only way he could prevent further infection was to root out the cause. [Cold Blooded] didn't allow him to hesitate. It didn't allow his emotions to get in the way. Making him do that which was rational. Namely, the mass murdering of his own people.
A simple day suddenly turned into a bloodbath as, one by one, the citizens fell to the bullets and the blades of the soldiers brought by the king. They all began running away while those nearby hid within the safety of their homes. All screaming from terror because, just like the soldiers, they didn't understand what was happening.
It didn't take long for Onyx and Colonel to finish their task. With most of the crowd being slaughtered while some were able to run away. In that moment, Onyx finally saw a window of opportunity to ask once again. Moving to the king who was still deep in thought.
"My liege, why did you"
"Burn their bodies immediately. Get fire crystals and any highly flammable material you could get your hands on."
Onyx wasn't even finished asking when the king gave another order. Without any sign of hesitation from his tone, the king gave this command. As unwavering as the first command he gave,
It was confusing for all his followers of course but, they had no choice but to follow orders. Deciding to simply ask their questions later as they executed the command.
"Look for any bystander who has violet veins protruding from their bodies. Kill them immediately. Cover your mouths while you're at it."
"Understood my liege." Onyx said, knowing that the king would not answer him in that state.
Jubilee knew exactly what situation he would face after. All that was happening was not within his calculations. With himself being busy on restoring the domain, there was no time for him to look at such details. Nor was he some kind of omniscient god who could see all things twenty-four-seven. He was just another regular human and, at that moment, this weakness was showing.
The people would inevitably hate him once again. News was something that spread like wildfire within the outer walls of the Void. King Jubilee won't even be able to get some proof that his action was justified as, all the bodies needed to be burnt.
"Everyone just keeps testing me nowadays huh. Well, at least I know my enemy is nearby." The king said, realizing that the one named Kingsley would probably be within his domain. It was the only reason he could think off and, the only reason that made sense.
He then stole one last glance at the truck. Seeing information that made things a bit more complicated
[Area recently entered: Outer Void Prison]
The same area indicated by the burnt vehicle was, the same place where important people were headed. Sol and Alice, the only Void citizens who were able to awaken their SEED apart from him, were going there that day. Hence, he had no choice but to go there himself, knowing that the main opponent would probably be in the same location.
"I guess I need to speed my plan up. If it's a fight they want, then it's a fight they'd get."
The king rode his horse and galloped towards the prison. Moving as fast as he could in order to arrive in time. Even without [S.W.] he knew that, he was moving towards a trap. He knew that his enemy was leading him on and that, he was seemingly navigating through dangerous waters.
Yet he had no choice but to move forward. To always move forward. Because that is his way. That is the Void king's path. Unwavering. Unrelenting. Always pushing towards his goal.
