Chapter 48 The winner , I choose.....
Michael's wings were missing some feathers after the battle, his armor drenched in blood. For quasi-rank 3 beings, their bodies could almost regenerate from any wound. But when facing a wound of a similar rank, it was a different story altogether.
"You're still as strong as ever, Michael…" Asmodeous commented with a smile. He was missing two wings, and his left arm hung uselessly at his side. The battle had been brutal, and it was clear he had lost.
"I told you, you would die," Michael said, his smile bright as divine light radiated from his figure. He walked slowly toward Asmodeous, his expression indifferent, even when confronting an old enemy.
Since the beginning, Michael never considered Asmodeous his true enemy. That role belonged to Lucifer. Only he could match Michael's power.
"Let me guess… you're going to seek out my true body now and strengthen the seal. I was stronger than you expected." Asmodeous chuckled, pleased with himself. After all, even his clone had shown progress. If this was only his clone's power, his main body had surely advanced further in the study of the rules.
"You're not even close to what I expected," Michael said coldly, now standing before Asmodeous. "Look at you, kneeling before me. I've never considered you a threat. Yes, you've grown stronger, but so have we. You'll always be the weakest of the original sins." His words pierced Asmodeous like knives.
"Now you're silent, like the weak being you are. Prepare to die," Michael's aura spiked, filling the air with divine pressure. Asmodeous' eyes narrowed to slits.
"So this is the true strength of your clone…" Asmodeous smiled, a heretic, chilling laugh escaping his lips. "You were right, Michael. I was just your punching bag."
"But do you think I'll fail when I'm this close to victory?" Asmodeous said, and Michael's raised sword paused.
"What do you mean?" Michael asked.
"Do you really think I'm too weak to fight back?" Asmodeous smiled wider.
"I noticed, but I'm confident in my strength," Michael replied, chuckling.
"That cocky attitude—Lucifer's rubbing off on you," Asmodeous grinned.
"Well, off you go," Michael said, his expression bored. Fighting a quasi-rank 3 was entertaining, but Asmodeous hadn't even mastered 20% of the Law of Lust.
"Sigh… tell your true body, we're coming," Asmodeous said as Michael's sword came down—but it was too late.
Just as the blade was about to strike, Michael stopped. Not by choice, but because a higher being had arrived. A colossal hand appeared, pulling Asmodeous' body away.
"The seal has weakened…" Michael commented as the higher being removed the restraints. Slowly, Michael pulled his sword back.
"Hehehe… the heavens will fall next time," a booming voice echoed everywhere.
"You've nearly recovered your strength. Escaping to the 7th layer of space... how bold of you," Michael said.
"Oh yes… we're all insane beings, aren't we. I escaped too?" Asmodeous' true body responded.
"I'll be waiting for you," Michael said, as a portal opened behind him, leading to the central heaven of this multiverse.
"We won't make you wait long," Asmodeous' voice lingered as the giant hand vanished along with its clone. Michael stepped through the portal.

*At a city, in a mansion…*
"Everything is not alright… my master is coming," Linkir said, her expression filled with fear.
Shen Ye looked at her with shock and anger, realizing how badly she must have been treated.
"Auntie, why are you so scared?" Anya asked, turning her head.
"He's coming… you need to run while you can," Linkir urged them, panic rising in her voice.
"I promised I would protect you. Trust me," Shen Ye said, taking Linkir's trembling hands in his.
"I appreciate your support and your company, but if you don't leave, you will die… my master is cruel," Linkir whispered.
"How cruel?" Shen Ye asked.
"More than you can imagine," Linkir replied.
"Did he… torture you?" Shen Ye's voice softened.
"I... I…" Linkir stammered. "Just go!" she screamed, her mind breaking. He was getting closer. She could feel it.
"Tell me," Shen Ye demanded sharply.
"Yes! No… I don't know… just leave!" Linkir cried out, her mental state collapsing. The weeks she had spent with them had been the happiest of her life, but now… she had to go back to him. To Void, the evil being she called master.
"I won't. I want to see what he'll do," Shen Ye stood firm.
"Do you want your sister to die?" Linkir turned and looked into his eyes, her own filled with tears.
Shen Ye watched her cry, a strong woman broken by fear.
Was it for them?
Linkir felt anger, frustration, and self-hatred. How could she be so weak? "I don't want to implicate you… please, run," she begged, dropping to her knees.
"Auntie… brother…" Anya's voice trembled, tears in her eyes.
Shen Ye was torn, looking from Linkir to his sister. After a long pause, he took a deep breath and finally made his decision.
"I'll come back for you," Shen Ye said, lifting his sister in his arms.
"Come back for who?" a deep voice thundered, and a shadow descended over the mansion as the humans below scattered in terror.
Linkir's wolf ears twitched, and her body trembled with fear. She knelt down.
Shen Ye turned to look, his body shaking uncontrollably with fear. A higher being stood before him, and in comparison, they were nothing more than ants.
"Master… they…" Linkir tried to speak, but the words were lost. The shadow was Void's.
"Speak normally," Void ordered, releasing his overwhelming aura.
A wave of searing heat erupted from him, melting the castle and scorching everything within thousands of miles. Countless beings died instantly.
Shen Ye shielded his sister with his body.
"Are we still alive, brother?" Anya asked.
"Yes, we are, sis," Shen Ye confirmed, both looking up.
The temperature outside was lethal to any normal being. Only those at low-level Rank 0 and above could endure it. Shen Ye knew he would be injured if he stepped into that heat.
And this was just from Void's aura.
The only reason they had survived was because Linkir, kneeling before them, protected them with her own weakened aura.
"Interesting," Void commented as he landed, retracting his aura.
The burnt remains of the surroundings were swept away by the wind.
Linkir gasped for air, her body trembling. "Master… please, don't kill them…" she begged in between ragged breaths.
"Oh," Void grinned, his deep voice rumbling when he heard this.
"Master, please, I beg you… they aren't—" Linkir stopped, afraid to say anything that could anger him.
Void chuckled, his towering form casting an imposing shadow. "While I was gone, I see you made some new friends," his voice mocking.
Anya remained silent, holding Shen Ye tightly. Discover hidden stories at empire
"I've never seen anything this big before," Shen Ye thought, estimating Void's height to be over 50 meters.
"Master, it's not like that… they helped me… I—" Linkir stammered, trying to explain.
"How did you even get here?" Void asked, puzzled.
"I… I fell down…" Linkir mumbled, her eyes downcast.
"Fell down?" Void burst out laughing. "Hah! Forget it." He knew something larger was at play, likely the scheme of a higher being, but it still amused him.
Shen Ye watched their exchange and sighed inwardly. At least Linkir is trying her best to save us. He knew saying anything would only complicate things—or worse, cost them their lives.
"Linkir," Void's voice deepened.
"Yes, Master," Linkir responded, trembling.
"They will die," Void said coldly.
"No, Master, please… I beg you, don't do this!" Linkir pleaded, her eyes filled with pain.
"Why shouldn't I? Give me one reason," Void replied, his voice indifferent.
"They are my friends… they're like family to me," Linkir said, kneeling before him, her eyes pleading.
Shen Ye and Anya felt a flicker of hope. Someone considered them family, after all.
"That's exactly why you should kill them," Void said with a sinister grin. "In fact, you will kill them now."
Fear gripped them.
"Master, please… I—" Linkir crawled to Void's feet, her voice breaking as she begged.
"Stand up and kill them," Void ordered, his tone cold. Tears welled in Linkir's eyes. She remembered his past command to kill her race—it had been easier then, they had betrayed her. But these two… they had accepted her despite her differences.
"Hey, butt-face!" Shen Ye's voice broke through the tension. He couldn't stay silent any longer—they were talking about his and his sister's death. Linkir had done all she could.
"Linkir, do it. I don't have time," Void said, folding his arms.
Linkir stood, dazed, her tear-filled eyes meeting Shen Ye's.
Shen Ye smiled softly. He could see the torment she had endured to be in this position.
"Anya, stay here," Shen Ye whispered to his sister before running toward Void.
In seconds, he stood before the giant demon's feet. Passing by Linkir, he whispered, "It's okay." Her eyes widened in horror at his words.
Shen Ye swung a punch at Void's massive toe, aiming for the sharp claws. But before his fist could make contact, an invisible force stopped him. **Boom.** The impact sent a shockwave through the air, but Void didn't even flinch.
Shen Ye sighed but continued, knowing this was likely a hopeless attempt. **Boom… boom…** His blows rang out, shockwaves rippling across the ground, but Void remained unbothered, his eyes locked on Linkir.
"As an Aeron, as my slave, and as my future dependent, you must be heartless. These creatures are worthless. Kill them," Void repeated, his grin widening.
"Aaah!" Shen Ye screamed as his body collapsed, exhausted. He panted heavily, overwhelmed by how insignificant he was before this being.
Is this the power of a primordial demon?
Void's voice broke through Shen Ye's thoughts. "How about this? Choose one. You either kill that little girl… or him."
"...Argghh!" Shen Ye screamed in agony as fire engulfed his body, starting from his feet. Anya rushed to his side, tears streaming down her face as she tried to comfort him.
Void grinned at their misery.
**Ding!**
{Host: Shen Ye. Race: Human. Rank: 0 - Mid level.}
{Strength: Mid. Stamina: Mid. Speed: Mid.}
{Blessing: Son of Destiny. Ability: Devour—Gains strength by consuming powerful beings. The stronger the being, the more power he gains, but the more ravenous he becomes until he loses his mind and turns into a beast driven by hunger.}
Shen Ye, the Son of Destiny. And Anya, the former Daughter of Destiny. The choice was clear—one had to die.
Linkir looked between them, torn. Shen Ye, with his immense potential, growing as fast as a demon. And Anya, an innocent girl. One was dying quickly, the other could only survive a little longer.
"I choose…"
