Age of Heroes (Age of Heroes Chronicles)

Chapter 566

Chapter 566: Limitless elements

The Knight knows the secret of the Spear of Doom. Among other things.  How could Elkar not get shocked?

The Spear of Doom was the ultimate weapon of the First Generation.

It is the weapon which forced the Demon Kings at that time to sign the Accord and establishes the power base for humanity since that time.

Unlike Mikael, Elkar did not believe the stories of the Spear of Doom. A weapon that could destroy an entire continent in one day?

It boasts of fantastical story.

A poison gas that then spread for years, making the land near the area to be uninhabitable.

It is hard to believe. But to know not only that this thing is real, someone even knows where it is.

But to Astiel, these knights if not for the possession of the Necklace would not rank high on his list of priorities.

The reason was because the Knights wanted to use Asranajosei

Of course, not all knights think like this.

Some of them hold the same charge as the priest, vowing to protect the lineage of the Blood of Light.

Some others wanted to know more about the secrets of the First Generation and they could only do that if the Blood of Light cooperated with them

Elkar sighed.

He then realizes that he had walked quite a distance.

He looks behind him and he could no longer see the opening hole. If he went back, he could see the hole.

But, he did not. He is not interested in finding the seals when his heart is this conflicted. He walks the streets illuminated by the moonlight

He thought of the seal that Astiel is looking for in the ruins of Alendar. The seal items inside the ruins of Alendar is the Liquid of Reality.

That is what Astiel believed.

The Liquid of Reality is a red floating liquid thing encased in a blue vials made from a dying star. It can change illusions to reality.

The reason is because of the Illusion Forest of the Negevian.

Of course, Elkar was also surprised of how Astiel reach toward the conclusion that the Liquid of Reality is inside of the Ruins of Alendar instead of inside the Illusion Forest of the Negevian

Astiel believe that the reason why the Illusion Forest is so weird is because of the effect of the Liquid of Reality.

Because while the anomaly happened at the Illusion Forest, the true location of the mist that covered the Illusion Forest is the ruins of Alendar.

Because the four corners of road leading to the desert of the Ruins of Alendar people who try to trek their way to the ruins always find themselves caught in a mirage or illusion.

This did not only happen in the Illusion Forest on the west of the Ruins.

It also happens on the south road. And also the area of the Green Plains closest to the desert.

And Astiel had felt the resonance with the Stone of Life when he arrives here which only strengthened his belief.

The other two seals are still somewhat of a mystery. The other two is the Purple Ring of Destruction.

The name itself had explain the purpose of this ring. It gives anyone who wears it almost unlimited power in exchange of their soul burning.

Normal mortal would be burned the moment they came in contact with it. But divine beings would be almost nigh invincible when wearing it.

Souls is one of the most mysterious subject.

Some even believe it did not even exist.

Jurgan tell him something about souls.

Bodies wither. Entropy rules over all.

But not the soul. The body could be destroyed, it could dissipate

But souls remain eternal. Some soul that is. Some souls have imperfection or flaws. These kind of souls could theoretically be truly destroyed by a real powerful being.

But, there are some special souls that no matter what you do, you could not destroy it. Even Elkar wonders what kind of soul that is.

Then there is the Orb of Discord. It is not the strongest of the items among the Six Seal. But it is the most troublesome of them all.

Jurgan said it has the ability to control people minds. Then the other one is the Stone of Time and Space.

About this stone, Astiel and Jurgan knows where it is.

But they couldn't get it. It is in the hands of Amara. And she is not telling. Like the name had foreshadowed, this stone control time and space.

Who knows?

Maybe Amara had used the stone before.

Since she is a divine being, she could probably use the stone without suffering any of the side effect that would plague beings like Astiel and Jurgan.

Of course Elkar did not include himself in that list. He is quite sure that if he tries to use any of these items, he probably would suffer the most.

The wind blows and the light of the moon shines even brighter. For a moment, he stopped thinking about the six seals.

How sorrowful, he thought to himself.

He walks step by step, lost in his thoughts. Alone….in this large world. His mind seems to be thinking of something troublesome, his expression complicated.

Then he asks himself.

'My revenge…...when will it end?' this is a sudden question that appears in his heart. This question is no longer simple.

The smell of blood is masked by the wind blowing by, the wind of the desert, bringing with it the sand to buried the smell.

He seems to be dazed.

Elkar did not regard the Thirteen Tribe the same as humans of the Human Continent. Elkar is ruled by hatred, yes.

But it did not blind him of who his enemies were.

His enemy was and still the human in the Human Continent. It is those humans that killed his parents.

Yes, there is a Resurgence movement in the Human Continent after the unification of south and north.

The Eden Empire encourage the movement.

From the ivory towers of the University of Acro, the schools around Arrandy, it spreads knowledge of the world to the people, enlightening the masses with science and facts, encouraging the use of reason and logic, driving innovation and binging new ideas

Why does rain falls from the sky?

Of why the color of the sky is blue?

Of history. Examining, asking answering these question based on verifiable facts. Why does magic act the way it does?

Why does some magic have some order to it and system to it while some other magic break through certain boundaries and did not have any order around it?

Some magic requires rituals and some other did not? What logic lies in this unreasonable method of power?

Enlightening the people, by taking the example of the past great dynasty of the First generation, spreading knowledge regardless of class.

The cooperation between the Demonkind and humankind had also created a more tolerant society in the capital of the human world.

But, what use it to him?

What use it to Elkar who lost his parent?

Should he then forget his revenge?

When that is the only reason that he had keep living?

Great love brings great pain.

Especially when one loses that love in the way Elkar lost his. The world was different back then.

Hatred begets hatred. The humans hated the Demonkind not only because they were different.

The matter between the humans in the Human Continent and the demon in Arakath is not only exacerbated because of the difference of their appearance.

It had a lot to do with the dark history between these two races, the religious difference between them and in the culture where they live in.

Eden, whatever its faults, unify the continent with blood and steel and bring about a great reform not only in its strength, unity, prosperity but also in its culture.

The help that was rendered unto the High King of Arakath had set the tone of the reconciliation of humans and Demonkind.

One would not be surprised to see demon merchant selling wares on the prosperous street of Arrandy.

A troupe of demon performers would perform on the large cities of the human kingdoms and cheer upon by the nobles

This sight is now common.

Of course there is still many objection voices all over the Human Continent but it is without a doubt a step toward the right direction

Even if Elkar knows all of this, how could he accept it? If Eden Empire was established during "that" time his parent might not have suffer the fate that they had suffered.

But "if" is useless. It did not happen.

So, he is left with this hatred and this hollow feeling.

And pain. Pain is the only thing he felt. He breathes in it, lives in it.

And when that pain had no other way of transferring itself out, it would become hatred toward those that destroy that love.

Elkar love for his parent twisted him. He was a demon. But he was not a monster. Now, he is.

Suddenly he stopped. He had walk quite a distance. He didn't even realize he had walk this far
