Chapter 802 T.D.O.N.B: Picking Up Flames
I quickly discovered that despite flashy, strong attacks, that guy was very, very dangerous. Just the sheer amount of summoned animals was a problem because there were a few dozen of them. I dropped the barrier to check how sturdy those were, mainly because I wanted to compare them to my shadows, and as I slammed one with my fist, I discovered, that it went through like there was nothing there.
Then the little shimmering fucked bit me. Well... He tried to bite me, but he stopped trying because my body was too sturdy. Even if it wasn't, the kevlar hoodie was enough to stop the teeth, before they would sink in the flash.
I then attacked, mostly unconsciously, and this time, my had hit the creature. Despite being a regular backhand it was a strong attack, so the wolf didn't survive. He dissolved into the air like he was made of some kind of fog or smoke.
Then I shadow walked to reposition because the army of dogs went at me. They were joined by more. Boars, bears, and smaller beasts. All ferocious, very focused on killing me. They weren't that fast, though, so I kept away, circling around the boss to check what else he could do, but he didn't show me more of his cards, just kept increasing the number of animals, so I decided to step forward.
It allowed me to discover, the hard way, unfortunately, that some of the piles of stones had a different effect than just spitting the bullets of energy. They activated those annoying weakening spells on me.
- That's enough - I growled.
That was the straw that broke the camel's back. I jumped forward, breaking from the grasp of the annoying magic, and reached him, to punch him in the gut. To my other surprise, he tried to respond by attacking me with shimmering blue claws, that appeared on his hand, but my hook to the gutters was so strong, that he never reached me.
A loud noise shook the vicinity. There was no sign of the boss around anymore. Instead quickly disappearing, thick, black smoke and a crystal laying on the ground.
I picked it up, then left, making a mental note to warn others about that particular hunting ground. Even somebody capable could easily die there, because of the unexpected influence of the smoke, the spell, and the tricky spirits of an anomaly being summoned at mass.
I traveled more toward the territory of crocodile dragons, by flying mainly, which allowed me to notice the change to the part of the world under the tome very fast.
There was a cloud of thick black smoke in the air, above the line of the horizon. As I got closer to it, because it intrigued me, I discovered it was coming from the top of a volcano, that gradually revealed itself.
"Fire elementals?", I asked myself, since I already encountered earth and water ones.
I accelerated to verify that thought, and I ended up confirming it. Swirling flames were moving around the base of the lonely mountain, which rolled lava all over its face.
They were quite aggressive. I learned it upon landing next to a group of them.
The sky was mostly blocked by the cloud in the sky, so there was very little light making it from the local star, but both the lava and the elementals were providing enough of it to the point I barely felt any difference.
I was jumped on by the elements. Hissing and growling, like a roaring firepit.
They were quite hot and didn't really have a stable form. They changed as they moved, creating hands with claws to grab me, or just hitting me with their whole mass.
At first, I fought them with 'Telekinesis' keeping them ad by, and then squashing, which worked, despite them not having real bodies. As I approached the massive cavern at the base of the volcano, though, I began experimenting a little and quickly found out that my skill 'Control flame' actually gave me power over them.
A loud chuckle left my mouth when I saw it for the first time. Then, with a wide grin, which just wouldn't go away, I entered the lair, collecting an army of minions, while casually having a stroll.
Inside was very hot, and very bright thanks to pools filled with lava, hidden deep in the crevasses of broken stone. Some of them were spitting fire, but most did not. There was only a bit of stone you could walk on, which created this spiderweb around the deadly holes.
All of those passageways were filled with fire elementals. I collected them too, and the grin only got wider.
I felt like an absolute chad, casually picking up girls on the streets, who for some stupid reason, were so attracted to me, that they couldn't refuse. I would randomly burst into laughter too because stupid thoughts were all over my brain.
Like that, I got to the other side of the open space, and in one of the holes, I found a staircase, leading below. It was quite narrow, and because of the heat coming from the pool of lava below, also quite dangerous. For a normal human being that is. For me, it was nothing.
In such a way, I entered a dark tunnel, which eventually ended up in a quite familiar view. Something quite similar to what I've already seen back under the mountain range belonging to giants.
Although the road wasn't paved, the lakes of molten rock were present. The rivers and waterfalls too. A little bit more than in the place I've already mentioned.
Obviously, there were more fire elementals there, and they were bigger. My skill still worked on them, so I just kept walking, eventually reaching another passageway on the other side.
It was quite spectacular. A hole in the wall seemed natural. All jagged on the edges, and everything. What was so amazing about it, though, was the glyphs around it, forming almost a circle. I couldn't read them, but I understood the symbol at the very top, above the circle. It was the world tree, glowing with orange light. The mark of the boss room.
