Chapter 803 T.D.O.N.B: Maw Dragons
I crossed that entrance and through a short corridor found myself in a very well-illuminated chamber. All that light was coming from a waterfall of lava, pouring down from quite a high place into a pool below. It was large, taking around half of a round chamber with maybe a hundred meters in diameter. That would be around three hundred feet, so it was a substantial space.
It was very hot inside too, and the air smelled of sulfur, which was very unpleasant for my nostrils.
As I looked around, to find the boss, I didn't notice any throne or something of such kind, so it became obvious that my opponent was hiding in leva. I decided to approach the pool to find out if my assumption was correct.
Then the pool moved. A bubble reached the surface in a few places before the whole thing began rising more or less in the middle. soon a humanoidal shape appeared. It didn't have eyes or mouth, since it was just lava itself, shaped in a certain way. It was still flowing. I could see it moving on the surface of the creature, which reached its hand toward me.
I used the same skill I did before, and it worked again! Then I found myself in an awkward spot. On one hand, I had this whole freaking army, waiting for me outside of the boss's room, and on the other, I had the boss himself.
Yes. I did it. The most obvious thing anybody would do in such a situation. I went to the furthest end of the room and made the fire elemental clash with the boss.
Contrary to what you might think, it wasn't that fun at all. The boss would smash the charging elementals, destroying them and living with a pile of crystals. The difference in strength was overwhelming on his side, but the major factor was the material he was built off. The lava was harder than the flames itself, so in the physical clash, the flames just couldn't win, since the mere heat wasn't enough to do any damage to that monster.
Then I used 'Telekinesis' to pick him up, and tore him apart. Something really weird happened when I actually did that. Normally there would be black smoke disappearing in the air, and a crystal would drop, but in this situation, the crystal dropped, but there was no smoke. The parts of lava hit the walls and the ground but remained there.
It was a curious exception to the rule I was so used to.
Still, I picked the stuff, not wasting more time than I had to, and then left, heading straight to the surface.
This marked the beginning of my search for the next hunting ground in the vicinity. I chose a path moving toward the castle on the cliff but arching slightly in the direction where the barrier should be, and I soon found sharp spikes coming from the dark ground. Those were rock formations, like the teeth of the planet itself. Something that I've seen already multiple times traveling under the dome. They weren't that tall. Maybe four to five meters, but there were a lot of them.
They created this large formation. Like a forest of stone. From above, though, I was able to notice a cluster in the middle, resembling a sundew that closed itself trapping a bug inside. Or maybe a weird type of cocoon.
I saw moving shadows out there, but it was hard to pick up actually how the creatures looked like, so I decided to land on the outskirts, and approach the formation on foot. I didn't have to wait too long before finding the first monster, and I'll say it upfront, it looked nasty.
A massive mouth with incredibly big teeth, which were almost all I could see. The jaw looked like it could bite a human being in half with ease. It was attached to a reasonably big head, which was then connected to a large neck. Clearly prepared for swallowing large chunks of the mean.
It was a lizard type of creature if you could stretch the concept of lizard this far. A fusion of a crocodile and a hippopotamus on steroids. Yeah, maybe this sentence describes it better.
The hide on its' back was very thick, and it even had this spikes coming out. They looked like metal rods, which got painted black.
It was as big as a van, and despite its size, that damn creature could run fast. I noticed because it charged at me immediately when it noticed me. Just to get punched in the head so hard, to dig deeply into the ground, as it fell on its face.
I didn't use that much force, before stepping to the side, to get out of the way, so It didn't turn into smoke, but my hit was enough to stun the creature, so I was then able to examine it closely, but I didn't come to any more conclusion. I killed the monster and moved on.
Soon I found more of them, but this time instead of charging, they reacted by puking at me a sea of fire, which didn't do completely anything, because I was too resistant to that little bit of heat, so I didn't even have to block or redirect the attack.
My revenge was swift and strong. I took my pudao off the vault, then chopped all of the creatures in half.
The hunt, if you even can call it this way, began. I would classify it more as a slaughter. Eventually, though I made my way to the cluster in the middle, and watched it for a moment standing on top of now of those protruding teeth-like stones, with my weapon resting on my shoulder.
There were a few bigger ones at the front. They had bone plates on their back, which was also black, just like the spikes. This feature probably made them a little bit stronger.
I confirmed that thesis after attacking them, and then entered the stone formation.
