Awakened: The Spirit King!

Chapter 66: Using Talisman like drinking water

Chapter 66: Using Talisman like drinking water

Xie Yang was here to kill the white beast with eighteen legs and white, long hair all over its body because it was the last piece he needed to complete a puzzle.

He already has blood berries, medias barberries, banshee bamboo sticks, and a rank three cauldron. What he was missing now from the ingredients he needed to make Breakthrough Pills was the legs of a 100 to 200 years old eighteen-legged beast.

He took a good look at it again.

It was half as tall as most of the spiritual ashen trees around the lake, and it was a few meters wide, just small enough to fit between two ashen trees.

It was pretty hairy, but each strand of its hair was as slim as silk and as sturdy as iron.

Its entire body was a treasure for cultivators.

It headed towards the lake.

Its action told Xie Yang that it was here to drink water.

'When it busies itself in drinking water from the lake, I will get the best chance to sneak an attack on it.'

'For now, I must be patient.'

One thing he knew the best about this beast was that its hide was its best defense.

Its defense was so great that even his most potent attack might only cut its skin.

Xie Yang enchanted his moonlight sword with three talismans.

Although his weapon was in no way extraordinary, it was a good conductor of spiritual energy, which not only made it possible for him to enchant it with talismans that only work on spiritual weapons but also the perfect weapon for him to carry out his assassination.

Three magic runes temporarily embed themselves into the sword, increasing its penetrating power by 30%, its speed by 30%, and its sharpness and attack damage by 30%.

He had used a small part of his fortune to get these medium level talismans, but he didn't regret it, for only with them will he get to slay the beast.

His eyes never left the beast, even when he was enchanting his weapon with different talismans.

He saw that after reaching close to the lake, the beast lowered its head to drink the fresh and clean water from the lake.

"Now's the time for me to make a move!

Its three tongues with many barbs on them just touched the lake's surface when Xie Yang jumped down the tree and plunged straight towards its head. He made not a single sound.

He did all that so silently that the beast calmly tasted the water to quench its thirst, unaware that the king of hell had sent an invitation to hell towards its way already.

[Offensive Spiritual Techniques: Temporary Amplification!]

Mid-air, blue waves of energy surged out of his right hand, swirling up the hilt of his sword and condensing into a blue, sharp crystal around its tip, causing a 100% increase in the sharpness of the moonlight sword, which he stabbed straight into the beast's head a second later.

Puchi!

The sword blasted its strongest layer of defense as easily as a hot knife cutting through butter.

Its tip went inside its brain.

"Argh!" A mind-blowing amount of pain assaulted the eighteen-legged beast, causing it to roar out in pain like a baby.

Blood spurted out of the stab wounds on its head, splashing all over Xie Yang's white robe and devilishly handsome face.

'What a shitty smell! I feel like puking my guts out.'

The blood smelled putrid and worse than the dirtiest of sewers, but Xie Yang didn't have time to wipe it off as the beast below him went berserk.

It roared and moved its body in a chaotic dance.

The beast was hoping that by doing this, it would be able to throw him off it.

However, Xie Yang was adamant about defying it.

'You won't be able to throw me off n matter what you do!'

Xie Yang held the held of his sword, which was inside of it, so tightly that his muscles bulged and veins appeared on his hands.

It was a level 20 spiritual beast and had some intelligence.

It could tell that it won't be able to shake him off after only a couple of seconds.

When it saw the lake in front of it, it immediately changed its tactics.

It plunged straight into the lake, hoping to drown Xie Yang.

Xie Yang didn't let go of his dagger even though he was underwater and drenched from head to toe.

'Ah, damn! I miscalculated. My assassination failed. Its vitality is too fucking great! But oh well, I have already dealt a lethal blow to it. I just need to hold on for a while and let it bleed out, and I will win this battle.'

Xie Yang held his breath so that he wouldn't choke on water, and at the same time, he hoped that the beast would die of blood loss before he would feel the need to breathe oxygen.

The beast realized that its efforts were futile, so it went out of the lake and started shaking around furiously.

Its movement flung Xie Yang the left and the right, but as he held the blue sword with his hands, he didn't fall off the beast's head.

"Roar!"

The beast, feeling excruciating pain and losing blood very fast, charged towards the nearest tree with a plan to crush Xie Yang between itself and the tree.

"You want to squash me to death? I won't let you!"

Xie Yang roared in his mind before using his signature move.

[Spiritual Technique: Northern Lights!]

Many rays of sharpness burst out of the tip of his moonlight sword and wreaked havoc inside of its brain, which was not squishy and stronger than a man's bones.

Because its brain was thick and sturdy, his attack failed to draw the last breath out of it.

"Damn it!"

Realizing that he would get crushed if he didn't get off its head this very instant, Xie Yang jumped across its body and landed on the muddy ground with many petals behind it.
