Chapter 514 Pillar Of Light
Chapter 514 Pillar Of Light
Beads of sweat rolled down Lee Seng's neck as he held the barrier up. He didn't know how much time had passed but the heat was getting to him.
'It's so hot.' Lee Seng thought as bones continued to shank away at the Hellhounds. Ash and blood would go flying everywhere, only for it to be rebuilt like nothing ever happened.
"How much longer?!?" David asked. Lisa glanced off to the side and quickly looked back at the sight in front of them.
"38 minutes!" Lisa replied, loudly. "Stop asking! It isn't gonna help you keep up! You just need to continue like your life depends on it!"
"Says the one that isn't doing anything!" David complained.
"Now's not the time, David!" Lisa shouted. "You may be skewering them to bits but Lee Seng is making sure they don't enter!" Beads of sweat rolled down his face.
Holding a barrier up for more than twenty minutes was fine against nothing but holding it against a horse of Hellhounds was another thing. The barrier continued to be barraged by Hellhounds slamming themselves against it.
'This won't hold for much longer.' Lee Seng could feel it. 'I'll have to force everything away and switch to another tactic...'
"Lisa!" Lee Seng piped up. Lisa turned to look at the sweating Lee Seng. "Are there any weaknesses to the Hellhounds?"
"They're easy to kill. The problem is High Noon...." Lisa looked at the hounds slamming in front of her. She noticed cracks forming along the barrier.
"What did you guys mean by, 'we can't kill the monsters of Limbo during High Noon?' Do people get something to kill them forever?" Lee Seng pushed for more clarification.
"Well, when you get your True Form, you can permanently kill them... But David and I haven't achieved it cause we're just low ranks."
"True Form? What's that?"
"Why... Why do you want to know now?!?" David grunted. "It's the form... You supposedly assume that matches how you were in life… Most of the Collectors call it your 'Sin'.."
"Your sin...?" Lee Seng muttered to himself. He threw his hands together as Golden light washed over him.
"What're you doing?" Lisa asked.
"We're sitting ducks if we stay here." Lee Seng told them. "I'll use this and see if it works against them." The Golden light swirled into the space where his hands were surrounding. It formed a ball as the cosmic barrier continued to crack.
"W-w-w-wait a minute! What're you doing!?!" Lisa asked.
'AI, do I have access to all my abilities since I'm reunited with my body?' Lee Seng asked.
[Answer: Yes. You have access to everything.]
'Activate Twin Sun Form. Shed my shapeshift and reveal my tails.'
[Twin Sun form has been activated. Shapeshift illusion is being removed. Standby.]
Lee Seng's body erupted in light. Lisa screamed as she looked away as the blinding light only grew. Lee Seng's four tails sprouted, whooshing behind him as the golden energy in front of him exploded around him.
"Piercing Light Fractals."
The Golden light shot in every direction, shooting a beam of light through a Hellhound and splitting to hit two more. The golden light multiplied until there were no more howls. Lisa had fallen to the ground, covering herself as David did his best to not be scared by the sudden burst of strange light coming from behind him.
[All Hellhounds have been wiped in a mile radius. You've gained 682 souls.]
The lines of light faded and only left Lee Seng lit. A cool gentle breeze surrounded him as he looked around. It was silent. Ash covered the land as Lisa quivered in fear.
Suppressed memories of her life crept back into her head. She saw the man hovering over her as she helplessly cried for help.
"Noo!" Lisa shouted. A knife appeared in her hands as she went straight for Lee Seng. Lee Seng grabbed her hand and pushed back.
"Lisa!" Lee Seng shouted. "It's alright! It's just me!"
"You're not going to kill us! No!" Tears poured out of Lisa's eyes. "I'll kill you before you touch anyone else!" She pressed deeper as David snapped out of his daze.
"L-Lisa!" David shouted. He stood up and grabbed her and pushed her away from Lee Seng. The two tumbled onto the ground as David hovered on top of her. Lisa screamed and kicked as David tried his best to hold her down. "Lisa! It's okay! It's just me and Lee Seng! It's over! No more light!"
"Turn off your light!" David turned back and shouted. Lee Seng looked at himself and quickly pulled the light inside. His tails fluttered behind him, nervously as his Fox ears twitched.
'Was this because of the light?' Lee Seng asked himself. His watch beeped.
"It's okay, Lisa. No more light. No more pain. Ahhh." David had somehow pulled Lisa into his arms and was comforting her. Lee Seng turned around and made some distance in the High Noon sun.
[Incoming call from Lord Cain. Click to accept.]
Click.
"Do you know what you've just done?" Cain asked. Lee Seng looked behind him. He could still hear the faint sounds of Lisa panicking and David calming her down. "You set off a beacon of light so large, you've caught the attention of every capable being on this Realm. The other Lords and Ladies have been trying to reach me about what that light was. There is no pure light in this Realm. What excuse do you have, huh?"
"I didn't want David and Lisa to die with me to an endless amount of Hellhounds." Lee Seng told Cain. "I'm in the Old Sector and there were hounds as far as the eye could see. What was I supposed to do?"
"You let off your light in front of mere Collectors?!?" Cain's voice rose to an all time high. He let out a frustrated sigh and said something in a language Lee Seng didn't understand. "Lee Seng, you can't use light like that down here."
"Why? It was a do or die moment."
"Ay caramba (Oh my god)!" Cain went silent for a moment. Lee Seng could hear him pacing on the other side. Lee Seng gave another look. It looked like David had calmed Lisa down and he was getting ready to let go of her.
"Look," Cain spoke. "Don't do it again. I can't guarantee your safety if you do that. Don't use light magic or else I can't even protect you from what will come after you. That's an order, got it?"
"Yes, Lord Cain..." Lee Seng answered after a pause. "I have to go. I'll make sure Lisa and David understand--"
"You're with those two?!?" Cain's voice spiked up again. Lee Seng twitched as he pulled his head away from the wrist watch. Cain began to talk in some language he didn't know. He continued to rage until suddenly became quiet.
"Come close." Cain whispered. Lee Seng gulped and raised the way h up to his ear. "Under no circumstance can those two know anything. If they know the full picture, it'll be worse for you. I can do so much to protect you from the Lords and Ladies, but their people are far and wide. If those two report to their respective Lord and Lady, you're screwed...
"Also, why did it have to be those two fake dimwits?" Cain groaned.
"What do you mean?" Lee Seng asked.
"Enough. You have a job. Focus on it. Follow my orders, got it?" Cain switched the topic. Without even hearing an agreement, Cain disconnected, leaving Lee Seng more confused.
"Lee Seng." David called out. Lee Seng turned to look, his tails disappearing in an instant. "Let's talk." He waved Lee Seng over. Lee Seng braced himself for the worst as he wandered back over to the tree. Lisa was hovering on the other side of the tree, peeking out as David folded his arms together. David held a serious face as he looked at Lee Seng.
'Is he mad? Or no…?' Lee Seng wondered.
"Everything alright?" Lee Seng asked. He looked at Lisa but was immediately blocked by David. He seemed very defensive about Lisa.
"Don't look at her. Look at me." David grabbed Lee Seng's collar. "What the fuck were you thinking about? You just thought you'd kill everything at the expense of Lisa?!? You don't do that without consulting us!"
David pushed Lee Seng away and clicked his tongue. Lee Seng stumbled out into the light, feeling the heat hit him. He stepped back into the shade, staying on the outskirts where there were a few spots of sunlight coming through.
"You possessing Light causes a lot of problems for us." David turned to face him. "You triggered an episode from Lisa. She isn't ready to see that yet."
'He's being super defensive about Lisa… Are they…?'
"Hey!" David snapped his fingers. "Don't space out! I'm talking to you! Don't do that light thing again or else!" Lee Seng's interest faded. His face grew serious as Lord Cain's words echoed in his head.
"So death would've been better for you than seeing light." Lee Seng whispered.
"What the fuck did you say?!?" David moved over and reached up for Lee Seng's collar, again. Lee Seng stepped into the scorching heat and watched David stop.
"I won't do it anymore." Lee Seng spoke loudly. "I'll just make us fly next time. Sorry for thinking about everyone's safety. Didn't mean to trigger anything from either of you."
