Chapter 516 Keep Your Enemies Close
Chapter 516 Keep Your Enemies Close
'The city's one of the places no one wants to step foot in?' Lee Seng thought as he listened to the quiet conversation.
"The Old Sector City?" Lisa gasped. "That place is cursed. Not even the Lords and Ladies could tame that place."
"It's crawling with all kinds of creatures." The old man sighed.
"Sharper than you or your friend here to know that your friend or whatever is going to cause trouble if you stay around them!" The old man stuck his tongue out.
"Oh you little—" David stood up rolling his sleeves.
"David, enough." Lisa grabbed his arm. "I'm sorry for my friend, sir. Is there anything else you wanted to mention before we head there?" The old man grumbled as his eyes glossed over to the front door.
"Why do you tag along with that Fox outside?" The old man asked. "He could leave this Realm at any time and you choose to keep him with you?"
"Well…" Lisa glanced at David. "We didn't know he was a Fox until very recently."
"What's so bad about those Foxes anyways? I rarely see them but they always steer away from the inhabitants here. What's so special about him?" David asked, motioning to Lee Seng.
"They're trickster beasts." The old man reluctantly answered. "They don't have to suffer like we do. They can go as they please and the Lords and Ladies so nothing about them. They'll only being chaos wherever the go. It's always bad when you come across one out there but when you befriend one, things could go so wrong. That light earlier… Did you guys witness it?"
"We did." David answered.
"David!" Lisa hissed. David ignored her and continued.
"We witnessed it first hand. It triggered Lisa, here. What do we need to do with the Fox then?"
"I would say get rid of it but you're venturing to the City. Keep him close. Use him if you need to. Get rid of him after you finish your mission." The old man replied.
'Great.' Lee Seng thought. He watched the heat waves disappear. The sunlight grew a bit dimmer as Lee Seng stood up. 'They'll probably get rid of me. I should just head to the city.'
"Thank you for the advice." Lisa said standing up. "We should go, David. High Noon is over."
"Good luck on your quest." The old man stood up with them. "Think about what I said. You might need to do it."
Lisa and David stepped back outside the porch. Lee Seng was standing in the sun, back towards them. He wondered what he should do in this case.
'I need to finish this mission.' Lee Seng told himself.
"Ready to go?" Lisa asked, moving down the porch stairs first. Lee Seng turned to see Lisa acting pretty much the same. David, on the other hand, was bad at hiding what he was told.
"Yeah. What did he say?" Lee Seng asked like he hadn't heard anything."
"We still haven't finished our conversation about what you did back there " David brought up. He walked down the steps and stood next to Lisa. "That old man says we shouldn't trust you. Why? What's your purpose being here with us?"
"I'm stuck here for awhile. L" Lee Seng replied. "I can't leave or else I'll be hunted anyways. You don't have to worry, back stabbing you isn't even worth it."
"Coming from the Fox guy." David reached up and grabbed his collar. David pulled Lee Seng closer while Lisa waited."You'll attract lots of trouble. You should just go your own way."
"Then I'll just tell Lord Cain you decided to let me go. We'll see what your Lord and Lady does after they hear about it."
David gritted his teeth. He swung at Lee Seng, coming to a complete stop as Lisa whispered something under her breath.
"That's enough." Lisa spoke up. "We don't have time to fight amongst each other. We have a job to do." Her eyes glossed over to David and then to Lee Seng. "So cooperate." David grumbled as he released his hold onto Lee Seng and turned half away.
"I have a question." Lisa asked Lee Seng. "Why would you risk it all to save us? If we get hurt, the worst thing is for us to re-spawn at the estate."
"Cause I wanted to." Lee Seng answered.
The group had decided they would walk to the Old Sector City. Flying would make them stick out like sore thumbs, so Lee Seng trailed behind his "teammates." Even if Lee Seng didn't want to admit it, he needed to stay in line or else Cain would do something to him.
'The people of Limbo are actually scared of the light… I wonder why. Is it because it triggers something?' Lee Seng thought.
"What are we gonna do about him?" David whispered to Lisa. "We're leaving him behind once we're done here, right?" Lisa didn't answer him right away. She had the most blank face like this was one of David's usual antics.
"Let's just get our job done first." Lisa told him. " Let's not think about anything else until then."
"He triggered you. Why do you make it sound like I'm the bad guy?" David grumbled. He folded his arms together and looked away as they continued walking.
'David is the straight forward one. Always wears his thoughts on his face. Lisa, on the other hand, is the one that has a lot of mystery…' Lee Seng observed.
"Hold." Lisa stuck her hand up. The three came to a stop as Lisa and David began to look around. Sounds of something moving caught Lee Seng's attention. Faint sounds of howling and laughter went off in front of them. It was very faint but within the shouting, he could hear screaming.
"No! Stop!" A voice screamed. "Let me go!" It was coming somewhere in front of them. Loud rumbling noises caught the attention of Lisa and David.
"What the fuck is that?!?" David asked. A large caravan of sorts was zooming straight for them. The sounds of howls and laughter grew louder as the screams of men and women caught their attention. The caravan narrowly flew past Lisa and David, circling them as more caravans joined in.
"Oh lookie here!" A bandit shouted.
"More poor souls to torture!" Another bandit cackled.
"Fuck off!" David shouted. He protectively put an arm out in front of Lisa as the bandits howled and laughed.
"Oh, I want that one!" Bandit Three pointed. Loads of bandits began to hop off their caravans, surrounding Lee Seng and his teammates. Lee Seng turned, slowly backing into Lisa and David.
"Help!" A female voice shouted.
"Help!" A male voice shouted.
"Shut up!" A bandit whacked the prisoners as the others on the ground pulled their weapons out with huge grins on their face.
"I want the girl!" One of the bandits shouted.
"I wanted her!" Another shouted.
"Well, I called dibs!"
"Fuck off!" David shouted.
"Oh, this one has fight!" Another bandit chuckled. David growled.
"I can take these guys." David whispered. "Take the others out."
"Who're you talking to?" Lisa whispered.
"You, of course! We can do this!"
"There's too many. I can't take all of them at once."
"Oh look, they're plotting!" A bandit pointed. The bandits chuckled as David's hand balled into a fist.
"Oh you little—" Before David could even do anything, Lee Seng lashed out a blast of gravity out at the bandits. They all fell backwards as Lee Seng lifted his hand up, summoning his sword.
"ARGH!" David's arms exploded into bones as they took form of swords. He flew forward slashing at the bandits as Lee Seng and Lisa moved in for the attack, too.
"Gravity Slash." Lee Seng swung horizontally, watching the colorful cosmos energy slam against the caravans, shattering them to bits.
"I'll take you." Lisa lashed her hand out, whip wrapping around a bandit as she pulled him in. "Fight for me~" The bandit's eyes glossed over pink as Lisa let him go. He turned and rushed at his allies, attacking the first one he came across.
"Got you~" A bandit chuckled as he grabbed Lisa. Lisa grunted as she tried to shake him off.
"Get off!" Lisa swung her elbow into the bandit's side. He chuckled as he pulled her closer. The bandit licked Lisa and chuckled.
"Oh, you're going to be great!" The bandit chuckled. David exploded the area in front of him, turning to see Lisa.
"Lisa!" David shouted. He sprinted straight for her, only to be met with bandits blocking his way.
"Argh!" Lisa swung hitting the bandit in the stomach. The bandit released his grasp, Lisa quickly turning as her red eyes pulsed. "Die!" Lisa sank her teeth into his neck, ripping his neck apart as the body instantly dropped dead.
"Ah, fuck." David muttered. "Blood thirsty Lisa is out…"
