Chapter 258 The Fifth Day
Chapter 258 The Fifth Day
...…
The fourth day of the Monster Event became the busiest and most intense day of the event due to the powerhouses being too active at this time. Small scale wars were kept happening in different places outside the walls of the Holy City because of these guilds.
There were even some big fights that occurred every time the wave bosses appeared. And during these times, the big guilds were kept on competing to secure the last hit of these monster bosses so that they could get the experience points and score points from them.
As usual, this day reached its peak when the last-wave boss appeared. And since these super guilds were too wary of the alliance on Shin's side, they made sure that they had some preparations so that they could receive them properly.
And just like what they were expecting, the other side arrived when the boss only had 50% HP left. But too much of their surprise, the other side didn't only come prepared but also had some backups that they did not expect.
Or to be more precise, it was better to say that Shin's group called out the backups that the guilds prayed not to arrive.
The Hand of Midas Trading Firm and Assassins Union joined Shin and the others under an excuse of 'being business partners' and 'being hired' respectively.
The battle was obviously an intense one, given the battle prowess that each side possessed. But unfortunately for the Powerhouses, Shin's side still won the battle since they were more organized and had a unified purpose.
On the other hand, the other Powerhouses might be strong, but they were also scheming against each other. So, it was not surprising that they were not working properly with each other.
Given that, it was easier for Shin and others to achieve their goal. Though, the one that took the last hit this time was Lawless while the loots were obviously secured by the Hand of Midas.
Suffering yet another loss, the opposing Powerhouses finally decided to form a proper alliance of their own even if it would last just for today. At the very least, they needed to work together to beat the forces on the other side.
And to make sure that no one would go back on their words and to prevent someone from backstabbing the others, these guys even formed a system contract. And even how they were going to divide the drops was also included in the contract.
Well, that was if they managed to succeed at defeating Shin and the others. And to make sure that it would happen, they immediately initiated an attack at the opposing group that everyone needed to look out for.
And with the lead of Hydra Guild and Blood Carnival once again, the alliance of these powerhouses went another all-out war against Shin and the people on his side.
When these too colossuses collided, the average and independent players decided to withdraw from the battle and just chose to watch on the sidelines, too afraid of getting caught in the crossfire of each side.
Moreover, this battle involved quite a number of legendary figures; even the number of Godlike Players and Maverick Gods present on this event alone was more than enough to scare these 'mortals'.
Due to this, the fifth day of this monster horde event became even more brutal than the first 4 days. And since the Powerhouses' Alliance had more numbers which also possessed some quality, Shin's side was thrown in the backfoot and became the ones in the passive state.
This time, the Dragon Pavilion chose to stand at the sidelines and observe as a third-party group. But at the very least, they were still actively attacking the Hydra Guild members. For them, this was also a good chance at weakening their archrivals.
But that was still not enough for Shin and his side to neutralize the assaults of the opposing side. They were being suppressed, the enemy's sheer numbers alone were already a problem for them, much less if those numbers possessed the quality that was comparable to Shin and the others.
Fortunately, the monster waves of the fifth day were not some ordinary monsters. They are monsters of different ranks and types; wolves, boar, bears and all of the other monsters that came from the previous waves. What's more, the weakest among them were monsters at Chieftain Rank.
With those monsters, the battle became more than chaotic; it's more like a complete disaster than a battle. Due to the monsters being from different varieties, most of the defending players had a hard time adapting at the random rhythm of monsters.
Having too much pressure on their sides, the alliances of the powerhouse guilds were forced to focus on defending the City rather than dealing with the groups on Shin's side. They rather conserved more of their strengths by focusing on a single side than weakening themselves at attacking the other group while dealing with the wave monsters.
Due to it, Shin's got a few more breathing times to organize themselves and make some preparations against the opposing side.
Dealing with the unpredictability of monster wave might be difficult for others, but that was not the case for Shin and his side. With his 'Battle Genius' personality, dealing with the unexpected was quite a norm for him. So, he was able to adapt to this 'mess' almost instantly when these monster waves started.
With that, he was able to come up with quick and effective strategies on the spot without thinking much about it. That way, Shin didn't encounter much trouble dealing with the unpredictable rhythm of these monster attacks.
And since Simba was with Shin for a long time now already, he was already used to his actions. So, adapting with the latter's strategies was quite easy for him. And if you add that he was one of the top players of the game, then dealing with these monsters was just a walk in a park for him.
The same for Cloe, she knew Shin since he was adopted by the Springfield Family, so she was also pretty much familiar with Shin's habits. Given that, all she needed to do was to respond at every instruction that Shin was going to make while also doing some supporting actions from time to time.
At the same time, Lawless and his teammates also have some experiences at teaming up with Shin at the Shunkai Forest so they were quite confident at the commands that Shin was giving.
Plus, Morgan was also someone that was familiar with Shin's strategic thinking since he already teamed up with him for quite a number of special missions given by the military.
Seeing that Shin's group was doing fine with the strategy that they were doing, the Eternal Hope Adventurer Team, Wing's Alliance and Titan Guild, mimicked their strategies and made their jobs much easier than what it was supposed to be.
The remnants of the Butcher Team were a league of their own, so they could handle these situations without having much problem. The same for the members of the Hand of Midas Trading Firm and Assassin Union.
And with those, the fifth and final day of the monster horde event progressed just like that.
The battlefield seemed to be calm on the surface just by looking. It was because the collision of the two colossuses ceased for a moment. But at the same time, the atmosphere looming on the entire battlefield was quite heavy and too suffocating, devouring most of the players that were unable to handle the pressure.
As of those quick-witted ones, they slowly withdrew to the sidelines afraid of getting caught with the storm that was about to arrive.
And that moment immediately arrived when a colossal silhouette appeared at the horizon right in front of the wall that Shin and the others were guarding.
Seeing that gigantic figure, Shin and the others that already saw that appearance of the final boss that they needed to face, couldn't help but become surprised at the sight.
The monster boss became much bigger than the previous size that they had remembered. It was now a colossal monster that stood with its two feet and had a muscular body that was showcasing its powerful limbs which were too similar to a werewolf's body. It had thick furs in dark grey color with a pair of curved horns on its head
A single look at this monster was more than enough for the players in the vicinity that it spells trouble.
Unfortunately for this colossal monster, the powerful guilds and other powerhouses only saw it as a huge experience point to get, a massive amount of score points to achieve, and a large bag of rare items.
Having that in mind, powerhouses that were waiting for this final moment, immediately sent their members to take down the final boss.
And with the mad assault of these players, the monster boss suffered a massive loss of HP. No matter how strong and powerful it was, it still couldn't face an army of this size and level; even if it was a King-Class Corrupted Monster.
Even if the powerhouse guilds lost a massive number of members in the process, it was still worth it for them since they were able to cut down the HP of the final monster boss all the way to 30% after a few hours of battle.
At the same time, Shin and the alliance on his side were having trouble getting near the monster boss. They were being completely warded off by the opposing side because they were outnumbered too much.
At this point Shin was too concerned that they would fail at securing the final boss if he couldn't find a way to break through this current situation. Even the players watching the battle a few distances away, thought that the alliance his side would lose if this continued.
And to put much pressure on Shin's side, their situation didn't improve even until the HP of the monster boss reached the 15% mark.
When Simba and Cloe saw that, they planned to finally reveal their real strengths as an answer for the current situation at hand, which was also the only thing that Shin could have thought off to solve their current problem.
But before they could do anything, a very loud roar sounded from the distance, attracting almost all of the attention of every player present on the battlefield.
When they turned their heads at the source of the sound, they saw an enlarging silhouette of a golden figure that was rapidly flying towards their direction.
Shin clicked his tongue and muttered to himself when he was that sight. "Tsk! What is it this time?" while frowning to himself.
