Chapter 1545 Free City (2)
Entering the large branch of the Explorer Union with the single thought of finding out more about the Dao Seed Realm cultivators inside of the free city, Xuan Hao soon found himself standing in front of one of the available counters as he asked for information in a similar manner as when he had visited the Explorer Union branch in the Dragon Tooth Mountain City not long ago.
Not any different from his time in the Dragon Tooth Mountain City, he also managed to get his hands on relatively rudimentary information on all of the Dao Seed Realm cultivators inside of the city, while at the same time also managing to learn about the presence of someone in the Celestial Immortal Realm from the Explorer Union that regularly visited the branch to ensure its safety from time to time.
Although this was a bit unexpected considering that he had not really had an opportunity to meet someone in the Celestial Immortal Realm that was also part of the Explorer Union, it didn't really affect him that much as he didn't come to the free city with any hostile intentions towards the Explorer Union.
Not to mention, he could clearly sense that this Celestial Immortal Realm cultivator wasn't currently inside of the free city, with the strongest person currently only being in the Dao Seed Realm.
The only real thing he would have to be careful about was the Explorer Union branch itself, as there was clearly some kind of formation in place protecting it, but outside of that, he didn't really have much to worry about inside of the free city itself.
With that in mind, Xuan Hao didn't spend much time lingering around the Explorer Union branch before he left the place in search of the Dao Seed Realm cultivators currently residing inside of the free city itself.
Of course, outside of those residing inside of the free city, he also intended on trying to see if he could find some of those currently inside the ancient ruins located below the city itself.
After all, those ancient ruins seemed to be where he had sensed the most Dao Seed Realm cultivators when he had first stepped inside of the city. The only problem he could find when it came to doing this was the fact that the ancient ruins were the main reason for the existence of the Explorer Union in this location and entering them still carried a certain amount of risk even for someone in the Celestial Immortal Realm.
Shaking his head a bit at these thoughts, Xuan Hao soon found himself going to visit the four Dao Seed Realm cultivators still left in the city that he felt was within the qualifications he and Elder Song had agreed upon when it came to recruiting Dao Seed Realm cultivators.
However, a problem soon appeared, as these wandering cultivators were all skilled individuals in either blacksmithing or alchemy and had absolutely no intention of joining a major power.
Even if he showed off his strength and revealed himself to be someone from an ancient hidden sect, these wandering cultivators didn't buckle and remained steadfast in staying as wandering cultivators.
Xuan Hao understood why, as it was far more lucrative for them to remain independent than join a major power that they would have to work for. Especially so considering skilled individuals like themselves would never have a hard time joining any major power they wanted.
In a sense, if they had the strength and opportunity to remain independent as alchemists and blacksmiths without being targeted by a major power like the ones residing inside of the free city, it would be far more lucrative than if they were part of a major power and had to work for them.
Considering the general lack of highly skilled blacksmiths and alchemists on the continent, this made them highly sought after individuals. Especially for the wandering cultivators who would normally pay far above what an established major power would for an artifact or pill, as it was far harder for them to encounter a skilled alchemist or blacksmith.
Outside of that, there was also the fact that they wouldn't be limited to a single major power when it came to selling what they made, a limitation that caused no amount of anguish for those who were already part of a major power…
Knowing this, Xuan Hao also decided to give up on trying to convince these wandering cultivators anymore after they had refused his request. Understanding that there would be no way for him to convince them by trying to continuously ask them.
Unfortunately, even using his knowledge of the Saint Realm wasn't useful, as the wandering cultivators were more scared than intrigued when he told them about the Saint Realm. Clearly, the different major powers stamping down on any Saint Realm cultivator, not part of them had clearly scared these wandering cultivators into not even daring to think about reaching the Saint Realm themselves.
Even if the Star Shattering Sect was an ancient hidden sect and they wouldn't run into this problem after joining the sect, they were obviously more scared than excited about the prospect of reaching the Saint Realm, a truly confusing situation, but the fear they had ingrained into themselves when it came to reaching the Saint Realm was not so easily overcome.
On the other hand, Xuan Hao personally learnt for the first time that not all wandering cultivators were like Pei Yang, who still strived to reach the Saint Realm even at the risk of being chased down and killed by the different major powers on the continent.
From the looks of things, the normal Dao Seed Realm cultivators skilled in blacksmithing or alchemy were still rather terrified of the different major powers on the continent. Even to the point where they didn't think it would make any difference whether the Star Shattering Sect was an ancient hidden sect or not.
Then again, it could also just be because they had never heard about the Star Shattering Sect and doubted his claim about it being an ancient hidden sect even with his strength.
Overall, rather confusing, but it looked like he would have to look for someone who was not an alchemist or blacksmith if he wanted them to join the Star Shattering Sect. Unless they were in a similar situation as Pei Yang had been when he had recruited him to join the sect.
Although, he doubted it would be easy to run into a Dao Seed Realm wandering cultivator skilled in alchemy being chased down by one of the local major powers of the Eastern Central Region…
Shaking his head at these thoughts, Xuan Hao soon found himself in front of the large passage leading down into the ancient ruins located below the city.
Although the ancient ruins were the main reason for the Explorer Union establishing itself in this location, the ruins weren't as popular as he had first expected, as only those in the Soul Ascension Realm and above seemed daring enough to try and enter the ancient ruins due to the apparent danger of the ruins.
In a sense, entering the ancient ruins as someone in the Domain Lord Realm already made him stand out a bit, though not too much, as there were always a few others in the Domain Lord Realm diving into the ruins to try their luck.
The main reason why so many people gathered in the free city in the first place was not so much the ancient ruins, but more so the fact that skilled blacksmiths and alchemists had gathered in the free city. Making it a rare place where wandering cultivators would be able to get their hands on artifacts, pills and other useful things that would normally be difficult for them to get their hands on as wandering cultivators without any backing.
Of course, this was mostly the case for the weaker cultivators gathered in the city, as most of the stronger ones had all come because of the ancient ruins and the opportunity that could be found inside of the ancient ruins.
Not to mention Soul Ascension Realm cultivators, the things that could be found inside of the ancient ruins were tempting enough to make Dao Seed Realm cultivators risk their lives for them.
For this reason alone, Xuan Hao understood that he would have to be careful when he entered the ancient ruins.
Not just when exploring the ancient ruins, but even more so when encountering the Dao Seed Realm cultivators that he would be searching for, as there was no saying whether they would be attacking him on sight or not.
Hopefully he would be able to spot them first and establish a friendly relationship before anything happened, though he did have a feeling that he might first have to subdue the wandering cultivators before a conversation could be established with them inside of the ancient ruins where every man and woman was on their own.
