Chapter 16: Pagoda of Enlightenment
After leaving Qing Yi to train by herself at the training court, Xuan Hao made his way down the mountain peak where his pavilion was located and followed the stone paved road until he came to stand in front of a 30-meter-high pagoda.
This was one of the Flying Sword Sects technique pagodas also known as the library pagodas, they were located at several places around the Flying Sword Sect so disciples would not have to spent too much time finding one or run into a situation where the library pagoda was too crowded.
The one in front of Xuan Hao mostly had the different cultivation mantras that was used to gather the qi between heaven and earth to breakthrough and increase your cultivation base.
When Xuan Hao first crossed over into this world, he was surprised by how many cultivation mantras there was and how unique some of them were. Back then, he thought that a few dozen per sect would have been normal…
One cultivation mantra would require the cultivator to only cultivate fire qi and practice only fire qi techniques, while another allowed the cultivator to only cultivate while sleeping. Though most of these cultivation methods were not used as they mostly had too harsh requirements or were simply inefficient.
The Flying Sword Sect alone had over ten thousand different cultivation mantras stored in it, some even reaching the Heaven Rank!
The cultivation method that the Flying Sword Sect used as its core cultivation method was a peak-tier Earth Rank Cultivation Mantra called The Flying Sword Mantra.
The cultivation method allowed someone to practice all the way up to half-step King Realm and was relatively easy to get started with, which in the end caused it to be the most used cultivation mantra in the entire Flying Sword Sect.
The Heaven Rank cultivation mantras they had were simply way too difficult to cultivate and only the core elders had access to them in the first place.
The reason why Xuan Hao came to the library pagoda was that one of the cultivation mantras was fire based. The Heaven Rank cultivation mantra focused on fire qi and would definitely fit well with his disciple who had a Bright Sun Divine Physique.
"Elder Xuan! What might be the reason for you coming the Pagoda of Enlightenment?"
An elder standing in front of the Pagoda noticed Xuan Hao coming over and immediately called out to him.
"Ah, I'm just here to try and find a cultivation mantra for my new disciple. Why are you here today elder Meng? Did you perhaps take in a disciple as well?"
Xuan Hao was a little confused upon seeing the elder in front of the pagoda as he would mostly just spend his time in his pavilion cultivating. The only other reason for him to be here was if he had taken in a disciple after the recent examination finished and was here to find a cultivation mantra for him or her.
Much like what Xuan Hao himself was here for.
"Ah! No, I'm the elder in charge of helping the new outer court disciple choose a cultivation mantra, so the pagoda of enlightenment might be quite crowded on the first and second floor."
"I see… I will be going to the fifth floor, so it isn't really that bothersome. Well, I will take my leave Elder Meng. Farewell for now."
"Farewell, Elder Xuan."
Exchanging a few more pleasantries Xuan Hao parted ways with Elder Meng who was standing in front of the pagoda of enlightenment.
The Pagoda of Enlightenment had a total of five floors. The first two floors were for the outer and inner court disciples, while the third was for the core disciples and outer sect elders.
The fourth floor was only accessible to inner court elders and in some rare cases, talented core disciples. One example of such a talented core disciple would be the current leader of the Flying Sword Sects younger generation, Ling Song.
The fifth floor was only ever accessible by the Nascent Soul experts of the Flying Sword Sect. The fifth floor was after all where they stored all their Heaven Rank Cultivation Mantras.
Upon entering the pagoda of enlightenment, Xuan Hao was immediately met with the scene of new disciples energetically running around the first floor of the pagoda.
Xuan Hao mostly ignored it and made his way onto the second floor of the pagoda. Here, the amount of disciple's present was way less, as the cultivation mantras were harder to understand and most chose to just use the Flying Sword Mantra on the first floor.
The Flying Sword Mantra could help them all the way up to half-step King Realm and was way easier to get started with compared to some random Earth Rank Cultivation Mantra on the second floor of the pagoda.
Even though this was the reason why so few continued on to the second floor, a few still came in the hopes of finding a cultivation mantra that fit them perfectly. Allowing them to easily progress in cultivation.
After all, even though the Flying Sword Mantra was easy to get started with, it got increasingly harder the further on went and breaking through to the Nascent Soul Realm using the Flying Sword Mantra was way harder than using a normal lower quality Earth Rank Cultivation Mantra.
"Did you see who that was? Someone went to the third floor!"
"Maybe it was just an outer sect elder. Nothing to get excited about…"
"But He looked just a little older than us!"
"Really! Then it must be a rumoured core disciple!"
"Amazing, I have heard that there is quite a few peak-tier Earth Rank Cultivation Mantras at the third floor… If I could just practice one of them related to wind qi, I would have such an easy time reaching the Core Formation Realm…"
"You Dream! We are Outer Court Disciples, not even Inner Court Disciples can enter third floor, let alone us!"
Xuan Hao ignored the chatting disciple as he quietly made his way to the third floor of the Pagoda of Enlightenment.
This time around, the floor was mostly empty, only a few outer court elders were sparsely walking around the floor. Each of them remembering to respectfully bow towards Xuan Hao as he passed by them.
The Fourth floor was completely empty, not even one person was present, which was also understandable as most of the inner court elders would spend their time cultivating instead of browsing the Pagoda of Enlightenment.
Coming to a stop in front of a formation laid down in front of the stairs to the fifth floor, Xuan Hao took out his core elder medallion given to him when he became a core elder.
The medallion lit up as Xuan Hao moved it towards a spot in the formation and soon the formation formed a door big enough for Xuan Hao to pass through.
Soon after he passed through the opening in the formation, it closed behind him as he made his way onto the fifth floor of the pagoda.
