?

Those formations were the ones that would be used to help the Abyssal Soul escape its confinement in the Fragile Dimensional Realm. With them gone, all that Spiritual Energy, Spatial Power, and Time Power was released and couldn't be aimed at the right place. That was basically the same as completing the quest.

[The Abyssal Soul has lost its means of releasing itself from its prison.]

[Reward: 100 Celestial Points.]

[Reward 02: New Celestial Soul System upgrades available.]

[Abyssal Soul Shard captured. An additional reward will now be provided.]

[Abyssal Path Detector has been added to the system's features.]

Finally, the system went silent, allowing the twins to think about the outcome. However, before Rean could even check anything, he received a call through his CD.

-Rean, we are out!-

It was Foliana, calling from a dark place.

"Oh! Foliana!" Rean was happy to see her. "Did you succeed? Were you able to take Karev's brother away?"

Karev jumped in front of the call. -We did. My brother is in quite a poor state, but he is still here. I just don't know if he still has that controlling problem. Rean, can you check him like you did to Diliy? I will be in your debt again.-

Foliana pushed him away. -Before that, what about the planet's outcome? The news over the Werdlem Network of our Planet is crazy. Countless experts died, from what I can see here.- "There were many losses, but we ultimately succeeded," Rean quickly answered. "If you go out now and try to check those formations, you should see that they are collapsing or have completely collapsed already. No one is going to die anymore."

-Phew...- Foliana sighed in relief.

Rean smiled, turning to Karev on the side. "Karev, bring your brother to me. I'll give you a location. Are you able to move?"

-Yes!- Karev's eyes lit up. -The three of us were quite injured, but we managed to escape the Detention Center. Also... we will bring one more person for you guys to meet. Is that okay?-

Rean obviously got confused. "Someone else? Well, sure, why not? If you think we should meet this person, so be it. By the way, how is Diliy?"

In the next second, Diliy appeared on the call. -I'm fine, although it will take a while for me to recover.-

He seemed to be in the worst condition in their group. That, of course, was to be expected. Diliy had just been released from his Werdlem Soul Worm, and his soul suffered greatly during the separation. Then, he already went to the Inquisition Hall's Detention Center to help Karev release his brother. No doubt he had to put a lot of effort into that weakened state.

"Good!" Following that, Rean passed the location where they were hiding. As long as they got nearby, Sister Orb would detect them. "See you later."

Finalizing the call, Rean finally had the time to look over the situation in the Dimensional Realm. To be more specific, he joined Roan's side, who was looking at the Abyssal Soul Shard. "What do you think?"

Roan shook his head. He was also a specialist in souls since he was a Death Spirit before. "Can't say for sure. It does feel like a soul, but at the same time, it is different from anything I've seen."

Rifindio and Zangeshu were also there. "Is this the same thing that attacked back in that Dimensional Realm?"

Rean nodded at them. "The one and the same. It seems to have some connection with Rifindio's Race as well. Or, to be more specific, with his bloodline. From what we know, it is called Abyssal Soul, although this in front of us is only a shard of the real thing." "Abyssal Soul?" Rifindio narrowed his eyes. "I feel like I heard about this before... but where?" He continued to think, but in the end, he shook his head. "Sorry, I can't remember. I'm not even sure if what I heard was truly Abyssal Soul or something similar."

"No matter," Rean and Roan weren't expecting someone with Rifindio's status to have much information anyway. "Perhaps we can try to read its memories."

Rean and Roan looked at each other and nodded. "Sister Orb, give us some help as well."

[Okay. I'll make sure to keep it stable, so do whatever you need.]

Roan allowed Rean to use his Dark Element while Rean sent his Spiritual Energy inside the shard. When he saw it inside Duere's head, he didn't try to analyze it. He spent all his efforts just to separate it from Duere's Soul. Now was the first time truly getting inside it.

Yet, Rean's eyes immediately turned dark. Even with his Light Element and Roan's Dark Element, he still couldn't get anything out of that shard. "This doesn't make any sense. This shard isn't trying to block me or anything. Yet, all I can see is complete darkness. Memories, emotions, sentience... there is nothing here. It is almost as if we acquired a small concentration of Soul Power and Energy that is completely blank."

He continued. "Of course, this Soul Power and Energy is very different from any other soul I've seen before as well. I might be using the wrong approach, and I can't even tell. I'm not sure if it can be called Soul Power and Soul Energy, to be honest."

Of course, Rean didn't give up and continued to go deeper into the shard. Finally, he found something. "Hum?"

At the shard's deepest parts, there was a tiny dark blue light. It didn't move, it didn't react, it was simply there. Using his Spiritual Sense and Elements, Rean tried to touch it.

*Bzzz!*

Immediately, the light reacted, and Rean felt like it was trying to connect with his own soul.

*Pin!*

[Soul Invasion Detect. Blocked.]

Without fail, the system blocked the attempt.

Rean took a deep breath. Even though that light tried to connect to him, he knew it was not a conscious effort. It was more of a reaction to his approach, an automatic response. "A connection... I see it now."
