Chapter 1336 Adjourned - Harsh Words

Chapter 1336 Adjourned - Harsh Words

At that point, more and more topics were brought up that could either be resolved on their own or be resolved by other people in the community and eventually, we adjourned the meeting and I found myself running a mile or two on my treadmill. I wasn't even that tired, for some reason, but I quickly moved on to body-weight exercises as soon as I ran for a good 30 minutes.

I was in my personal gym—which a few people in my compound still use to this day besides our public gym by the shooting range—and I'm gonna be honest and say that I slightly missed the hustle and bustle when my gym would always be packed at this hour.

Still, Tatiana was still putting Kaley and a few others through a tough workout though Quinn, Jennifer, and Cynthia along with the twins have programs of their own.

Obviously, Quinn wanted me to lift big weights with her—because all weights were light weights it seemed—but I promised to keep close to Ella because the Admiral might give her a call at any given time.

However, Ella was regretting her decision to keep me close to her because not only was I making her keep with me, she was basically a little embarrassed of showing the result of her snacking cereals any time she could.

"S-Stop looking at it!"

"You only wore a sports bra, of course, I'd glance at it now and again! And I'm helping you burn them, you should be thanking me!"

"Then why aren't you making me do sit-ups, huh?!"

"Hah?! You fucking dumb?"

"What— Don't call me— I'm not dumb!"

"It'd do you better to walk, jog, or run on the treadmill to lose that belly fat, sit-ups might make your belly even stick out more because once your abdominals grow, they'd just push your fat outward instead of making you have that tapered look—which is basically impossible with your body fat percentage."

"D-Did you just call me fat?!" Ella was in fucking tears.

"Yep, want me to lie to you or nah?" But I was brutal when it comes to health and fitness.

"Can't you just lay me down softly?!"

"Hah! What you need to lay down is the fork— I mean, the spoon! How many boxes of cereal have you eaten since you came here, huh?! Those are just pure sugar!"

"B-But I exercise!"

"Not enough, it seems!"

"But I'm so tired, now… I'm literally out of breath!"

"Yeah! The zombies would be fucking happy to hear that!"

"Hnghh… W-What should I do!"

"More burpees, it seems!"

"AGHHHHHHHHH! I HATE IT, I HATE IT, I HATE IT!"

"That's how it goes, Ella! You either eat less or exercise more! But the former's the better choice of the two! It's easier to put the fork down than to out-exercise a bad diet! You're just eating more than you can burn! No wonder you gained a few pounds despite doing basic shit, now I'm gonna pay attention to you, got it?!"

"Y-Yes… Hngh…. C-Can I have some w-water?"

"Get it yourself! Walk over there and—"

"AREN'T YOU JUST BEING TOO HARD ON ME! YOU'RE VERY DIFFERENT COMPARED TO EARLIER!"

"BECAUSE YOU'RE WEARING A TON OF LAYERS THAT TIME! HOW COULD I HAVE KNOWN YOU WERE GAINING WEIGHT?! IT'S A MARVEL IN ITSELF BUT IN A VERY BAD WAY! IT'S THE FUCKING APOCALYPSE, ELLA! I'M NOT GONNA SUGARCOAT MY WORDS— AND YOUR FOOD! WE AREN'T GONNA GIVE YOU MUCH SUGAR IN A FEW IF YOU DON'T START GOING BACK TO YOUR NORMAL WEIGHT, ALRIGHT?!"

"WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

"NO CRYING! AFTER THAT WATER BREAK, YOU'RE GONNA DO PULL UPS WITH ME!"

"I CAN'T EVEN DO A PULL UP! HOW CAN I DO THE PLURAL OF THEM?!"

"THEN YOU'RE GONNA HANG FOR AS LONG AS YOU CAN!"

"ARGHHHH!!! I HATE YOU, YOU KNOW THAT!"

"YOU SAY THAT NOW! WAIT TILL YOU SEE YOUR ABS!"

"I-I'll get abs?"

'Too fucking easy.'

"Well, yeah! This isn't punishment! This is me trying to fix your mistake! So come on!"

"I-I can't reach it!"

"Ah— Climb on this ladder—"

"MEANIE! I HATE YOU! I HATE YOU! I HATE YOU!"

"Pfft…"

"DON'T LAUGH AT ME! I'M BORN THIS WAY!"

"I'm sorry! But if you don't do these exercises, you'd be short and fat! Just be short!"

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!"

From an outside perspective, it might really look like I was being harsh on her—and I was, a little—but there should be a balance on things and she was definitely tipping the scales more than she should.

And yeah, I don't give a flying fuck about being PC at this point because those few pounds could be fucking life or death if she ever found herself face-to-face with a regular deadhead, much more a sprinter.

Still, it was partly my fault that she gained a bit of weight because I was just letting her be on her own—but it was still her own damn fault for snacking on cereal just because she felt like it.

So now, I'm letting her be a responsible adult but I'm pretty sure she'd thank me after all this once she saw results—but at the end of the day, what's more important was discipline and keeping at it even if there was no one watching her. That was one of the reasons that 99% of diets fail not because of the diet or program but because of the person not committing to it.

And yeah, all sorts of programs could've worked but if the person wasn't disciplined or lacked motivation, they could have the best program in the world but still stay in their sorry state.

Then again, my words could've cut deep to some people—and I'm sure it did—but what I was saying right now was the same thing I said to myself.

These were just words that you NEEDED to hear, not what you WANTED to hear, and it could be really tough at times or really boring, but it beats dying at an early age or suffering several things due to poor diet and no exercise—more so that we were living in an apocalypse.
