Chapter 132

Chapter 132

132 Fighting The Variant (4)

The wooden cube that Blake threw was a similar wooden cube that he had used before, but it took him slightly longer than a second to find this particular wooden cube because this one was slightly different from the other one and Blake didn’t make too much of this one since he thought that the ordinary ones would be enough to be used in everyday activities.

But here he was, already using the special wooden cube right after setting his foot on the main continent for the first few minutes.

The wooden cube flashed and the spell contained within it started manifesting itself.

Equipped with Vera’s detecting spell that was able to recognize the location of a creature near it, the spell didn’t have any problem in positioning itself so that the spell would give the best possible result.

From four different directions, the earth around the variant type demon began to shake.

From its front, back, and sideways, the ground all shook for a split second before dark earth constructs protruded from the ground, all moved diagonally, heading straight to the variant type demon that was standing right in the middle of the spell.

With the variant type demon still busy trying to get away from the darkness tendrils by increasing the heat that its whole body released instead of causing another explosion to propel its body away, the four dark earth constructs soon made their way and pressed the variant type demon tightly from all sides.

Different from the circular dark earth wall that only put the variant type demon in a roofless cage, the four dark earth constructs secured the demon right in the middle of them by pressing very hard on the variant type demon’s body, preventing it from moving up, down, or even sideways.

The only things that the variant type demon could move now were its unknown limbs and head as the body had been incapacitated by the dark earth constructs.

.....

Of course, the variant type demon didn’t just accept its fate of being caught. It also tried to use the same method that it used to melt the darkness tendrils, which then failed miserably because the dark earth constructs were not only generally tougher than ordinary earth, but also had the capabilities to absorb the attacks and forces that ran through it.

Moreover, the humanoid demon that had spent quite a bit of effort to catch the variant type demon didn’t just stand silently when the variant type demon tried to escape.

Drawing 2 sets of runes with his hands, Blake added more diagonal dark earth constructs to appear all around the variant type demon to secure the variant type demon even more.

From the original 4 earth constructs that held the variant type demon from its front, back, left, and right, now, 4 more diagonal dark earth constructs were added to the mix, pressing the variant type demon from the gaps that were left from the original earth constructs.

Basically, the variant type demon was now encased in a circle of 8 dark earth constructs that all pressed onto its body firmly from different opposite directions, making sure that its body’s mobility was as good as none.

With the variant type demon secured without being able to run away anymore with its explosions or spell-melting heat, Blake heaved a sigh of relief as he walked over to the variant type demon that looked like a man-sized fireball.

He already knew that the variant type demon wasn’t exactly a literal huge walking fireball. The fireball actually had a physical body that could be touched, hence the reason why the earth constructs worked in the first place to incapacitate its body from moving.

However, despite knowing that it had a body, Blake wasn’t able to see any of it due to the dense fire that encased its whole body.

So Blake decided to walk closer, of course, still wearing his dark earth armor, to see the variant type demon better.

The two other demons who had been a bystander in the fight between Blake and the variant type demon also saw that the variant type demon had been secured by Blake’s spell and finally decided to come closer.

Vera cautiously steered the sailboat in shallow water that didn’t have any reef on the bottom of them and made the boat stuck on the sand before instructing Robus to help secure the sailboat even more by forcefully pushing it against the sand.

After making sure that the sailboat won’t run anywhere in a short amount of time, the two then finally decided to come over towards Blake’s location.

Meanwhile, Blake had already gotten to only a couple of meters away from the constantly burning variant type demon, and he could even feel his body getting warmer despite the dark earth armor protecting every inch of his body other than his eyes.

And his unprotected eyes were also the reason why Blake didn’t go any closer to the variant type demon than he currently is, he didn’t want his eyes to dry due to how close he had gotten to an intense heat source.

But fortunately, despite not being only a foot away from the variant type demon, Blake could finally make out an outline of the body of the variant type demon inside the man-sized fireball.

He didn’t have any expectations whatsoever when he decided to find out more about the variant type demon and had expected to see a rather bizarre sight due to how Vera once described variant type demons as having a very unique feature.

So when he actually got closer and saw a very familiar outline, a creature with a head, torso, and two sets of limbs, one at the top and one at the bottom, Blake was genuinely surprised.

The outline seemed very familiar to how a humanoid demon looked.

“Rrrr?” Blake suddenly heard a familiar voice coming behind him.

“Yes Robus, I will extract its soul later. I just want to see how it actually looked first.” Blake answered the question while turning his head back to see his normal-sized gorilla friend.

But the moment he turned his head back, he suddenly heard two urgent shouts coming from his best friend and his teacher.

“BLAKE!”

“RR!”

Blake was startled by their sudden shouts, but seeing Vera’s hand pointed in front of him, Blake quickly turned his head back to see what happened in front of him.

Blake didn’t even get to blink as he saw the human-sized fireball, which was supposed to be held tightly in the earth constructs, flying head-first towards him.

The distance between them was only a couple of meters, and no matter how fast he could draw his runes, unless the spell could be cast and manifest instantly, there was no way for Blake to save himself from being rammed by the man-sized fireball by using a spell.

So with no chance of using his spells, Blake turned to the last defense that he got, and that was to use his own body.

Putting both of his hands forward and positioning them towards what seemed to be the variant type demon’s shoulders, Blake readied himself to receive the man-sized fireball’s body with his own.

The variant type demon seemed to have realized what Blake had done last second and also made a last-second adjustment, twisting and turning its body sideways to slip past Blake’s hands and went straight to his chest.

Then spreading its arms sideways before wrapping around Blake’s body the variant type demon glued its body tightly to Blake’s body before raising the heat that was emitted through its body to maximum capacity.
