Chapter 161
Chapter 161
161 Flame Elemental Demon
*BOOM!*
The loud booming explosion was the start of it all.
Right after the first explosion sounded, more and more followed suit, only slightly less powerful than the initial explosion.
The explosions that were heard from his surroundings, albeit he wasn’t able to see them, Blake was certain that those explosions weren’t only loud, but also powerful, evident from the shakes and tremors that he felt on his body right after each explosion sounded on his ears.
And also, the screams of panic and terror that the mass of humanoid demons was releasing.
Not only the explosions were present, but as more of them happened, Blake felt the heatwave that washed over him get stronger and stronger, stinging his face and causing him to want to cover his whole face with the dark earth armor.
However, due to not a single nether remaining in his body, the dark earth armor was only capable of existing. It had lost the ability to fix itself or add more parts to cover Blake’s face as it would need Blake’s nether to accomplish.
So Blake just bare with stinging heat, with his mind wondering what had caused those explosions all around him.
Truth be told, Blake had an inkling of what was currently happening around him. But it was a very wild guess, so he didn’t think that his guess would be true.
.....
He did notice the charred spots and random forest fires that he encountered for the past couple of days when he hunted the group of humanoid demons. But Blake didn’t think much about it and only thought that there might be a humanoid demon or a demonic beast with a fire elemental ability.
However, with his whole body being temporarily unusable now, his mind was busy piecing things together.
‘Considering how powerful these explosions sounded and the tremors that spread through the ground and the screaming humanoid demons, then the one that caused this was supposedly a strong demonic beast or beasts.’
‘Remembering how the flying humanoid demon quickly sent his troops to deal with me and Robus after the humanoid demon hunters began missing, then that means that the very strong demonic beast or beasts didn’t come from around here as they would have been exterminated by the flying humanoid demon.’
‘Which means that the demonic beats or beasts that were responsible for doing this had come from outside the forest...’
Blake then began searching through his memories, trying to find whether he and Robus had met any flame-elemental demonic beasts on their way toward the forest.
However, his photographic memory said that there was no single fire elemental demonic beast that he and Robus met when they made their way over to the forest beside the humanoid demon’s base.
‘Then maybe it came from another direction from where me and Robus came through or...’
‘Or...’
Blake’s mind suddenly recalled one memory that he had when he just first arrived on the main continent of the first demon realm.
He and Robus did in fact never meet any fire elemental demonic beast that was capable of causing fire explosions and intense heat waves.
However, they did meet a variant type demon that was very capable of doing so.
‘But what was it doing here???’ It was a huge question that Blake had in his mind after making his wild guess.
Blake still remembered how the variant just did a kamikaze-like attack towards him, failing, then running away as if nothing had happened.
Blake did feel something with the gaze of the variant type demon before it fled from him. Hence the reason why he didn’t chase after the variant demon after it fled with its power had been significantly weakened.
But even if his guess turned out to be correct, it wouldn’t mean that he was out of danger either.
It was just like being freed from a lion’s maw only to be passed onto a tiger’s jaw.
He didn’t know what was happening or what would happen, but Blake did his best and maintained his breathing, following the breathing method that Vera had taught him to recover his nether faster.
He didn’t know what the flame elemental demon was doing, but it did give him more time to recover his nether, so he gladly took the given chance.
Although his preparations would probably be for naught as he needed about half his nether capacity to be able to fight the fire elemental variant back then, Blake still had the necklace that Vera had given him.
If he at least had enough nether to activate it, then he would be able to at least get a breather.
And different from the last circumstances where Robus would die if he were left with the mass of humanoid demons, that wouldn’t be certain with the fire elemental variant demon.
If the variant demon were to attack Robus with its intense heat, the darkness constructs that bound Robus’ body would have melted way faster than the dark earth armor would, essentially freeing Robus and giving the huge gorilla the chance to save its own life.
So while the explosions and screamings from the surroundings filled his ears, Blake closed his eyes and focused on regaining as much nether as possible.
It didn’t take long – or at least Blake didn’t feel that a long time had passed, but all kinds of sounds, be it explosions or screams, had finally died down.
After a few more seconds and there were no more sounds coming other than the crackling of fire that ate up the twigs and branches of the trees, Blake finally opened up his eyes.
His nether condition could be said to be better than before after that short attempt to recover them.
Several drops of nether better that is.
He was able to move the tips of his fingers and toes now, but wanting more was still pushing it.
So when Blake heard the very faint sound of footsteps beside him seemingly getting louder and the increasing amount of heat landing on his face, Blake knew that whatever caused all of this mess after he went limp on the ground was walking towards him.
Blake didn’t know what to expect, but when he finally saw the same pair of blazing red eyes that he saw back then, Blake instantly recognized the identity of the flame elemental demon.
