Edge of the Apocalypse

Chapter 1038

Chapter 1038: Arkham

The lights shone on the glass of the window, reflecting Lucy's figure. She stood by the window, staring at the deserted street. Someone knocked on the door, and Lucy said, "Come in." Guna pushed the door open and entered. The girl held a plate with a bowl of antidote hot on it. Putting down her things, Guna said softly, "Miss hasn't rested yet?"

Lucy turned around and smiled, "I can't sleep."

"Are you worried about Lord Alan? Although such a terrible thing happened, I don't think it's difficult to get Lord Alan." Guna smiled and brought the bowl of soup to the table. "You must have drunk quite a bit of wine at the party tonight. This is my antidote soup. It has antidote and tranquilizing effects. Miss, drink it and rest early."

"Thank you." Lucy took a sip and drank the soup slowly. Guna had already made the bed for her and waited on her until she slept well before retreating.

Lucy slept soundly, not knowing if Guna's drink had any tranquilizing effect. By the time she opened her eyes, Alan was already sitting in front of the bed, smiling at her. Lucy hurriedly got up and asked, "Did Regis and the others save her?"

Alan shook his head. "Something unexpected happened last night." He briefly recounted the fact that the trembling snake had been carried to its nest, and added, "I've already sent for Graham to take me to visit General Arkham this morning to see if he can help us."

Someone knocked on the door and said outside, "Lord Alan, the clerk is here."

"I see." Ellen reached out to gather the golden hair on Lucy's forehead and kissed her on the forehead, "I'll be right there."

Lucy nodded obediently.

He left the room and went downstairs to the hotel. Graham was already waiting in front of a carriage with a smile. When he saw Alan, he went up and opened the car door for him and said, "Mr. Mayor heard about you last night and I'm fully cooperating with Lord Alan."

"Thank you for your trouble." Ellen did not hesitate and got into the carriage.

Today, Alan went to visit Great General Arkham. Alan only brought Nelly and four bodyguards. They could be considered light cavalry. Akram's General's Mansion was located near the Bear Armor Army's barracks, and was only separated from the legion's barracks by a city wall. This place was already close to the city, and the area was vast. A highway stretched from the city to the plaza of the General's Mansion, bypassing a lake. Apparently, Graham had already notified the General's Mansion in advance, and the carriage stopped in the square. Alan got out of the car and saw a group of tall and majestic Bear Armored Army soldiers lined up on both sides of the gate. They said they were waiting respectfully, but the eyes of these warriors flickered with a hint of hostility. It was more like they were demonstrating against Allen.

The Grizzly Bear Armor Army was a rare heavy armor unit within the Imperial Legion. Even if it was an ordinary soldier, the armor they wore was not light armor, but heavy armor. If it was the elite troop of the Bear Armor Army, the Tyrant Bear, it would be even thicker and heavier plate armor. It was completely like a torrent of steel.

An officer from the Bear Armor Army bowed to Alan and said in a low voice, "General Arkham is in the arena. Please follow me."

Allen and his group followed behind him into the General's Mansion. When they entered the gate, the Bear Armor Army on both sides cast sharp gazes at Allen. Although Graham was not the first to bear the brunt, his legs were weakened by the invisible killing pressure in their eyes. Alan narrowed his eyes. The Bear Armored Army clearly wanted to give him a dismount, so he snorted softly. The Heavenly Fire Origin Energy within his body circulated and naturally released a bit of imposing aura.

Everyone on both sides of the Bear Armored Army felt an invisible pressure pressing down like a mountain, unable to breathe. Only when Alan entered the General's Mansion did the pressure disappear. These Bear Armored Army soldiers' battle clothes had already been soaked with sweat, and they all felt that the armor on their bodies seemed to be much heavier than usual.

The General's Mansion was very spacious. As one of the few great generals in the empire, Arkham even had a fighting arena in his mansion. Armor and weapons were placed on both sides of the arena. When the Bear Armored Army officer led Alan into the arena, he happened to see a few bare-chested men wrestling. Four of them took turns attacking a burly man like an iron tower. Scars covered their broad backs as they faced Allen and the others.

At this moment, a loud shout sounded out from the arena. The burly man arched his hands and knocked over all four men who wanted to push him down.

"General, Viscount Allen and Lord Graham are here." The Bear Armored Army officer shouted from behind the man.

The man said "Oh" and then turned around, revealing a sharp face. The man's body was filled with undisguised determination and overbearing pressure, and even Alan could feel bursts of needles. Graham's face turned green and sweat poured down his cheeks. It looked like he was going to collapse under Arkham's pressure. Alan gestured, and Nelly understood and helped Graham down.

At this moment, Arkham took the towel from the warrior beside him and wiped the sweat off his body. "You are Alan, the Alan who took two moves under Old Hoey's gun?" He asked.

"It's me."

Arkham grinned and suddenly reached for the weapon rack on the sidelines. A double-edged crescent axe jumped up from the rack and landed in the general's hand. Without stopping, Arkham threw it at Alan. The crescent axe spun wildly like a gray wheel and slashed straight at Allen's face. Seeing that Graham was about to faint, Alan remained motionless, not even his eyelids twitching.

Just as the axe wheel was about to hit him, the crescent axe suddenly deviated from its original trajectory and swept past Allen's left side with a strong wind, deeply embedded in the wall behind him. The wall shook and collapsed.

'"This is the general's way of entertaining guests?" Allen said at this moment.

"What? Do you have any objections?" Arkham put down the towel, releasing a strong pressure from his body. The things behind him even twisted and blurred, as if an invisible storm had appeared beside the general.

Alan narrowed his eyes as he faced the might of the imperial general, and the light around him began to dim. A layer of dense red light quietly emerged, constantly rising, instantly dying the surrounding things with a layer of fire. Then sparks and ashes began to fall from the sky, as if the sky above Allen's head was burning for it.

At this moment, a series of crackling noises rang out from the arena. The ground trembled and cracked apart. The tiny rubble was lifted up by an invisible force and slowly rose up. It was distributed between the two of them. The Qi released by Allen and Arkham fought against each other on this field. Whether it was the officers and soldiers of the Bear Armored Army or the guards of Allen, they could not withstand the might of the two of them and retreated step by step.

Graham was even more unable to breathe. At this moment, he was like a person who had fallen from a height of ten thousand meters. He wanted to shout loudly to relieve the pressure in his heart, but he could not make a single sound. This made the clerk feel extremely uncomfortable. He didn't know that if Nelly hadn't helped him withstand most of the pressure, he would have been knocked unconscious by the might of the two experts.

Suddenly, a thunderous explosion rang out from the field. The ground between Alan and Arkham split apart. Countless sand and stones shot out from the crack, forming a cloud of dust and smoke. "Interesting," Arkham snorted.

Then, its might slowly descended like a ebb tide.

Alan withdrew his momentum and Origin Energy and looked at Arkham calmly. The commander of the Bear Armored Army waved his hand, and an officer held a cape and handed it to him. Arkham put on his cape and said, "I've heard about what happened yesterday, so what do you want from me, Sir Allen?"

"I want to know more about the Screaming Forest and the Queen of Fear." Alan said impolitely.

"You are straightforward. I heard that the Sabbath Earth has appeared in the nest of those poisonous snakes?" Arkham looked at Graham, who was about to faint, and the latter nodded with all his might. The general frowned. "That's strange. The Queen of Fear's dormancy is supposed to be a few years away, so the Screaming Forest has been very quiet these past few years. Lowitt, did anything happen to our defenses at the cemetery last night?"

The officer who led Allen and the others in shook his head and said, "No reports have been received, but there has been no danger on that line for many years. It is difficult to be sure that the garrison will not be careless." josei

"Then bring someone to examine it yourself. If anything unusual happens, you don't have to tell me. Just report it to Sir Allen." Arkham grinned and said, "You're the first guy in years that hasn't dared to fight me like this." For this reason, I can tell you about the Screaming Forest, but don't think that I will send troops to help you. Also, you are quite powerful. Rather than helping that useless prince, why don't you change your master? "The First Prince is a good choice. As for the conditions that the Second Prince promised you, the First Prince can still give you, or even more."

"General, I'm not in the mood to think about this right now," said Alan coolly.

Arkham shrugged his shoulders and said casually, "Whatever you want."

At noon, Allen returned to the hotel and immediately had everyone prepare for the battle. He had already obtained information about the Screaming Forest and the Queen of Fear from Arkham. Even though Arkham did not think that the Queen of Fear was related to the kidnapping of Regis, there was a Sabbath that only existed in the depths of the Screaming Forest. Alan needed to go to the forest to take a look. Originally, he still wanted to allocate manpower. After all, there was a precedent. Allen was worried that if he left, the rest of the hotel would be attacked.

Unexpectedly, the officer of the Bear Armored Army brought a small team over and stationed himself in the hotel. Arkham said he would not send troops to help, but he was willing to stay in Mosaio while Alan stayed, guaranteeing that he would not be attacked again in the city. In this way, Ellen could rest assured that Laura would also be brought along. With the Bear Armored Army stationed in the hotel, if someone attacked, it would be akin to slapping Acam in the face. Acam would not allow such a thing to happen, whether in public or private, so the safety of the people in the hotel was guaranteed.

Alan wiped Red King and made the final check-up for the trip. Lucy looked at him and said, "Me too."

"No, if Arkham isn't exaggerating, then the Screaming Forest isn't low-risk. Something like Regis and Fares has already happened, and I don't want you to risk it." Alan said softly, "Be obedient. Wait for me at the hotel. This is probably the safest place in the city."
